How can I tell if my phone has the stock Rom? From factory? Not root or unlocked?
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda app-developers app

It looks stock but so does cleanrom, check under status to see if it says modified. Or download an app from the market called root checker

I use the app "Notification Toggle' from the PlayStore.
It toggles the Wifi and Bluetooth tethering options if you are rooted.
First launch it will crash, after that you launch again and it works.
It brings up the standard tethering but doesn't ask for authentication.
Notification toggle
Just tried using this and was shut down each and every time

You may not be rooted correctly.
Download Titanium or some other app that requires root and see what happens.

Ok the files you need to freeze to stop OTA Updates are as follows:
SDM.apk
FWupgrade.apk
Keychain.apk
Freezing those will stop future notifications and downloads of OTA Updates.
Those were for freezing updates not disabling the Wifi entitlement check

That's why you root. What did you think you did it for?

Hide root?

Got one app (barclays mobile Banking) which won't install if it detects root. I've seen a couple of xposed modules which hide root but comments say they don't work. Anyone know of anything?

Nah, i only know about the same Xposed modules that you mentioned. Have you tried some of those though? Maybe one of them will work.

You have to choose the option to temporarily unroot, which allows apps such as Sky Go to work. Once you have finished using Sky Go, and similar apps, you can unhide root and have full root privileges again.

Unfortunately doesn't work with barclays mobile Banking app for others info. Don't know what procedure they do to check root but it seems pretty thorough. Shame.

Hello Ashindigo
Have you installed Ad blocker on your device or any other mod to block ads? If yes, Then remove it and also remove hosts file from /system/etc/
(Don't forget to take a backup of hosts file before deleting it)
Ad-Blocker cause No Connection error to play store
The gapps HAS to be for JB 4.1.2. It has something to do with compatibility. For example, 4.2 gapps won't work. It gives a parsing error.

My friend had this problem with her Zeki tablet. It doesn't come with Play Store or the Google Services. I think my brother fixed it by using App Backup and Restore and moved the apks to system/app using root explorer. Not sure what he did after that.
I can upload the apks if you want. That's if you haven't restored yet.

Well, getting into fastboot is a good sign. If you don't see the inverted menu giving the option to unlock, then that's unofficial fastboot.
