siyah kernel - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I want to know what is kernel generally.
I have a custom ROM and I have stock kernel.
Should I install siyah kernel? Will it make my galaxy s3 faster?
Another question: I have some lags when I enter the SMS, contacts and settings. Is there a fix for this?

Look it up. Search what is a kernel and you will get plenty to read

This is totally up to your own discretion.

No, but it will not make it noticeably slower either.
It will give you a better control over your phone's power consumption for example.

Great!!! Sorry to come off noobish but does the latest siyah kernel come with this rom or do i have to flash it in?
battery life?
bugs?
I can't really speak for bugs or battery life just yet as I've only been running the rom for about 3 hours.
When you hellraise a rom it replaces the kernal and modem that comes with the rom with ones that are compatible with the i777

I believe that the Hellraiser package contains Entropy's kernel. If you want the siyah kernel you'll have to flash that after the ROM and Hellraiser have been flashed. Just make sure that you get the version that is made for our phone (i777)
Just flashed it... now how do i get the english version lmao.... I don't understand the language
Edit: Nevermind, as soon as i sync google in corrected itself into english
Good to see that it worked out
TurkBey
Loving this rom
Some additional screenshots
This rom is pretty amazing. I'm curious about battery life though.

It looks pretty nice. I don't really care for status bar icons being different colors though. I'd probably change it to something consistent.

You shouldn't use an auto task killer my man, it's only hurting you.

It is amazing! It has every mod available in one Rom. Make sure when hellraising to remove uckh7 modem from entropy hellraise zip if that is not your preferred modem and yours. Personally i like uckj2 but when i tried to flash over after the turkbey/hellraise install i got an error

A manual clean on boot can be useful for making sure you don't have wakelockers - but never use an autokiller.
Task killers are still necessary to have around for dealing with apps that hold wakelocks.

Are their any Gpu overclock apps available? And would juicedefender be a better choice then task killer?

I don't know anything about GPU overclocking apps but I don't use juicedefender or a task killer and I get about a full day's worth of usage (14hrs+) on average with medium-heavy usage (3hrs+ screen on time).

fluxi is a kernel like siyah ma8, in that in order to get rid of the negative mode effect u have to swipe form left to right on the screen with two fingers
And after that disable that function in tweaks app.

Can you direct me to the disable function? What is Tweaks app (xxTweaker I guess, but couldn´t find it in that app).
It's an app which controls the kernel.
But since I'm using Siyah and ExTweaks, I can't tell you where is that option in xxTweaker.

Since you are running the Neat ROM, I guess you are using the Siyah kernel.
So, in ExTweaks, go to the Screen tab. At the end of the page, disable "mDNLe Negative Toggle."

Phone shaking while charging

Hello, I've got unusual problem. While I'm charging my phone the screen shakes on touch (Samsung ICS 4.0.4 and CM10) like this:
(youtube)/watch?v=wEKaVlz-lys&feature=youtube_gdata_player
The problem doesn't appear at CM9

Are you using Siyah Kernel? Or a Kernel based on Siyah Kernel like Dorimanx?
This "shaking while charging" is a common issue on these Kernels.

Reccomend me a rom?

Hey, ive rooted my phone a while ago but i am now looking to installing a custom rom. the main reason i dislike the stock one is little things like when you start typing a number in the phone the person comes up then you click their name but then you still have to hit dial, and also when you go back into the app later to call someone else the last number is still up so you have to delete it. also id like to be able to launch apps from the lock screen.
thanks for any help.

As you can see, ppl reccomend a different ROMs, nobody will say you which ROM is best. So you need to choose it for yourself.

[Q] Help! Battery Saving Kernel for CM 11 on S3

Hello,
Before I get to the problem, let me tell you I'm a complete newbie in matters of custom ROMs and Kernels.
However I did end up flashing CM 10.1 and then CM 11 on my S3 (I9300)
My main aim is to save battery. Are there any kernels that I can install with CM 11 that can save battery life for me? And if possible can you also guide me in case there are any tweaks I need to make on apps like STweaks to get optimum battery usage? Give me exact numbers I need to set.
You'll help me a lot.
Thanks in advance.
