xperia tablet wakelock / battery life - Sony Tablet S

Hey guys.
This is something strange i noticed on my xperia tablet: after leaving it for the night, with wifi off (no 3g) i get up to see a 12% drop in battery. When you take a look at the screenshots i provided you can see the tablet has been aktiv non stop. Anyone else having this issue? Also on my xperia arc s Android OS takes no more than 5% battery. Here its 63 (?!?!?!). Discuss

I have the same problem. I no longer have problems with the tablet turning off while asleep but the Android System resource is eating up my battery faster than the LCD screen even when I watch a movie... Does anyone know hot to fix this on a non rooted Xperia Tablet running the latest software revision? If not then hopefully it won't be a problem when JB finally rolls out next month!

I kinda fixed it by turning off backup to google servers..tablet now goes in deep sleep again. But ive read that on 4.0.3 battery stats arent correct and it adds screen time to android os. If sony gave us 4.0.4 instead of 4.0.3 on a q3 2012 tablet it wouldve been better.

[Q] MediaServer ICS 4.0.4 massive battery drain loop

Hello!
I am a long-time lurker of XDA Forums and had an issue that I could not resolve on my own. I am hoping the community can help me with this issue as it is completely driving me crazy and hurting my business life!
I have upgraded my Xoom 4G to 4.0.4, stock, locked, not rooted. Factory reset recently and have tried everything to my knowledge to fix the following issue.
The mediaserver is in a constant loop. There are no music files, pictures, anything on the device right now. Here are the few logs that have looped (I used OS monitor to find)
Code:
setup_dma
cpcap_audio_configure_power: regulator -> stanb
cpcap_audio_configure_power: regulator -> enable
tear_down_dma
setup_dma
cpcap_audio_configure_power: regulator -> stanb
cpcap_audio_configure_power: regulator -> enable
tear_down_dma
It happens every few seconds and keeps the tablet awake constantly. The battery is in a huge drain. I have no idea why this is happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If anyone has any input I would be greatly appreciative...
Battery in just 4-5 hours has drained 40% with no use because of the keep awake.
After yet another battery cycle:
MediaServer is 3%
Android OS is 61%
Barely any use, screen is at 16%.
Please assist!
I decided to Flash my xoom back to 3.2.3 and do OTA updates all the way back to ICS.
I did not install any apps and went to sleep.
When I woke up I saw a 10% drain and "Android OS" was back to 80% of the battery usage and a keep awake of about 2 hours.
I know people are viewing this thread, but I am surprised no one has chimed in yet. I would appreciate the help.
Hi,
I am half watching the thread as am having a similar issue. I have an Asus Transformer and a HTC One X. On 11th June, my phone was roasting hot and had eaten all of the battery away. That was the first time and it has done it most days since. The Transformer has also done similar things since I noticed it on the phone, so am assuming the two are linked.
One Saturday 16th June, I factory reset the One X and re-installed the apps. In Sunday I re-imported the files from Dropbox. Was fine, like 2% battery use from the whole of Sunday. On Monday, issue returned. Only thing I did different was use it as a USB drive. AM therefore thinking those two are connected, but I don't know how to trace the issue.
I've been playing with LogCat and OS Monitor (following your post), but any advice on a way I can dig around to find what it's actually getting up to would be appreciated.
Wish I could help you tbh.....
Cavey
I am also having same issue with HTC SENSATION, AOKP ROM, Android 4.0.4
I went through this with my sensation as well. It was caused by an odd MP3 on my sdcard. I suggest formatting sdcard and just keeping the bare necessities.
Any details on how you found the "odd MP3." I know this is the cause for me. I needs to know what to do to log or query mediaserver to see what its grinding on.

Xperia P - Battery drain possible cause

I've found a probable cause for battery drain on Xperias, this case on the Xperia P.
I've had my Xperia P for some weeks now, and after the euphoria of using the phone for the first times i'm now making a stable use of it.
Without changing absolutely nothing on the phone, i noticed that the battery percentage dropped fast and suddently the Android SO was using more battery that the screen.
So i searched for running processes that were uncommon, and i've found one that is called Storage Capability that was using a lot of the CPU and keeping the device awake. Killed it and the phone returned to normal. A day has past and still it hasn't reappeared. So, it must be a one time thing.
Anyone experienced this?
What does this process do?

New XTZ == Fast battery drain (5% in 5 min)?

Hi all,
I just purchased a Xperia Tablet Z 32 Gig Wifi (SGP312) and am seeing an amazing amount of battery drain. I was using the kindle app and dropped about 5% battery power (96% to 91%) in about 5 minutes. Being that I just purchased this tablet from Amazon I would like to know if this is normal or if this sounds like it could be a hardware issue? Also, does someone know if the custom roms (e.g. CM10 or CM11) have better battery life?
Thanks!
Dave
Ps. I am running build number 10.4.1.B.0.109

i have a similar problem with the 16gb...which i didnt buy brand new. But i did get the updae from 4.2 to 4.3 when i bought it, and i believe its a
dirty update issue. Im going to wipe/restore it to make sure im running clean...usually fixes things on the Galaxy s3/s4 devices..........
the battery in this tablet is quite a bit smaller than other tablets, the galaxy 10.1 2014 has a 8200mah battery and ours has a 6000mah battery, i bought this tablet having an idea that the battery would be poor and thats what i got.
I generally leave mine plugged in most nights while im on it or it will just run out and not last a whole night.
I have always just seen this as normal for this tablet though.
reflash the firmware. Normally 2% battery loss overnight can be considered great, not 5% in 5 minutes.
Sorry if this doesn't help you but this is what I do and I have at least 7h usage on mine now from a single charge.
First up, if you are rooted try Greenify from app store, it saved a lot for me just doing all none system apps that don't require notifications or autoupdating (widgets).
Next up, drop your screen brightness, I regularly run mine on lowest setting. This isn't an issue as much if you don't mind removing Sony shatter protection on screen as it slightly darkens the screen, please be aware this is designed to stop your screen shattering if you drop it so do it at your own risk. I also use a generic matte screen protector to stop finger prints so you may not have this issue.
If you use custom ROM, most have performance settings, so if you don't use tablet for heavy gaming, you can save a lot of battery here by using power save settings and conservative processor governor. Again be careful with this if you are unsure, don't do it.
Lastly, most modern tablets etc have a fairly significant improvement the more you use it. Always try to run your battery to 10% or under before fully charging, however don't run it flat because you will most likely have issues.
Clean master is another app that helps me too. I turn off all settings except auto clean when screen turned off. Then go to memory boost and hold any apps you need running without being closed and press ignore.
Hope this helps.

[Q] My z2 is Overheating

Just bought my z2 yesterday my phone cpu temperature is always 55 some time go to 60
I think battery drain fast to i lost 4% in 10 min and battery temperature is 38 Dunno where is the problem i hope some one help and sry for my bad english
Phone running on lollipop and no apps running just screen and data on
My Z2 only starts overheating when I play Hitman Go, or while watching videos while the phone is charging.
Try leaving the phone on stamina mode. Also your phone could be struggling to find data towers hence the extra power Drain.
Try downloading watchdog lite and see what is abusing your cpu. In my case it was Facebook messenger. It got my phone to 67 degrees Celsius and used around 50% of cpu just by running in background
Sent from my D6503
the Z2 has been noted to have a hardware issue that causes overheating
it lacks a heat sink and a heat basin where as newer xperias have this
sony has improved the temperature throttling in lolipop

I kept managing to hit 65-70 by doing next to nothing. Quashed Google now wakelocks and turned some of its features off. Now hitting 55 max. Try that. I'm on KK by the way.

I also noticed that on 4.4.2 I got crazy overheating issues but the second I updated to 4.4.4 and higher they went away.
I'm not really sure if Android version changed anything for me... Basically, when traveling (brightness around 70%, listening to music and using LTE with poor signal I get ~43°C on battery). Another example... Streaming internet radio over LTE for longer periods of time = frying pan. So, when I don't really need LTE I use 3G and it's about half the usual temp. I would get... But as I said, it depends on signal strength... About CPU/GPU... Well, let's say that the recent discussions about 810 overheating make me smile

battery issue

hello.I replaced my battery and I have the same problem (somehow) as before!to clarify..I dont know why I cant get the superb of 11 SOT when I bought it and running kitkat..now I am on lollipop and get max of 7:30 SOT max.
So my issue is that when battery goes down from 16% iy drains battery % muuuch faster!it happens again now even after replacing the battery, but not so quick compared to before..what can be the cause?thanks.
STAMINA Mode?
Do you enable stamina mode when the battery gets low (e.g. 15%)? I find that the battery drains faster when stamina mode is on (sounds funny-I know, since it should improve battery). Even for my Xperia XA, I seem to lose more battery with stamina and even more with ultra stamina. :silly: This is when the device is idle.
yes dude I have always stamina on.I miss the good days with kitkat that I had 11 hours SOT.Maybe I'll revent back to kitkat to test.but I don't think I will get these numbers again..don't know maybe is hardware issue cause tablet is 2+ years old...

Possibly a hardware issue but I doubt it. I've used an Xperia device running KK and can say that that was the last version (I think) that had the good old stamina mode which totally suppressed mobile data/wifi resulting in very good battery life, ever since lollipop they decided to use the built in android battery saver and based stamina mode around that which is next to useless, it doesn't actually suppress the network connection, only reduce brightness, sync and performance.
I find that only keeping the wifi on during use/charging to help a lot, settings->wifi-> it is somewhere there where you can change this.
You could always revert to KK if you find a ftf.
I've only had the tab for a week or two and am happy with the battery life vs performance, much better than the nexus 7 2013.
me too.I love it and have no complain about it.but this battery issue drives me crazy.I found my old flashable zip, maybe I try again kk thanks!

Where did you bought the battery? Maybe it's fake or not new. I'm on Android MM now and battery life is superb compared to lollipop. It's comparable to KK
My Xperia z3 compact tablet battery drains fast
Hi Everyone,
I got the xperia z3 compact tablet earlier this year and it was good for a few months before the battery started giving me issues. It practically drains out while still about 60% charged and when you plug it for charging it begins from 0% before a twinkle of an eye it's at 100%. I noticed lately the tablet goes off even when the battery is saying 80% charged. I've reached out to sony and the suggestion was that i format the tablet which i did but to no avail. Pls is there anything i can do?

Unfortunately it sounds like a hardware problem since a reset didn't fix it. You can try going into the service menu and see battery health there, maybe even do a test on it. To go into the service menu open the phone app and dial *#*#service#*#*
You spell service by using the corresponding number buttons.
Edit: realised it might not have a phone app, in that case download an app from the play store that helps you open the service menu. I don't own this tablet anymore so can't fully remember haha.

You sure? It should be under "Service tests" -> "Battery Health test" (you may have to scroll towards the bottom). For example on my Xperia Z5 it says "Good, no need to replace it." Other than that I don't know what else to say, because if a reset doesn't work it has to be a hardware issue. It may be useful to try an app which reads battery diagnostics.
