[Q] SIM-PIN - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
I've got a problem with my Galaxy S II and I hope some of you can help me. One day i flashed a wrong modem via CWM and I couldn't connect to the internet. So I decided to go back to stock and restore everything via CWM. I flashed a 3 part stock firmware and updated it to ICS. Then I flashed CWM and restored everything, but from now on my phone ask me several times a day for my SIM-PIN. I tried different roms, but on every rom my phone ask me for the PIN, again and again. Now I'm on ICS stock and everything works fine. Can anybody help me or is there anybody with the same issue?
Best regards
Hesoy

SIM pin is your SIM card pin code. Whenever you get a SIM card it comes with 2 codes: SIM PIN Code & SIM PUK Code.
Check the carrier SIM package and should get them both.
If you threw it all away contact you carrier and ask for the PUK Code.

Hey,
thanks for your answer. I know my SIM code and it works, but the problem is the SIM PIN request. When i start my phone I enter my code, but the phone ask me again and again for my pin, when it is on the table or in my pocket for example. Without a restart or something like that.
Sorry for my bad english.
Best regards
Hesoy

go to sim kit and set it to "don't ask for pin".

Try flashing your modem again from here, they include the RILS and could help. Although it would help it you gave more info about your ROM.

[Q] T-Mo Vibrant SIM issue

Hello all
I recently got a great deal for a Vibrant (150$ contract free, looking brand new ).
I live in Europe and I already own a Galaxy S, so I thought "hacking" the Vibrand would be a piece of cake... well it wasn't Finally after reading a ton of stuff here on the forums I managed to beat it using Odin.
After finally getting root the first thing I did was to download Galaxy S unlocker from the Market so I could use it with a local SIM card... and it failed. The app couldn't find any codes? and neither the root or non-root method worked.
The Vibrant recognizes that there's a SIM card, and even asks me for a PIN on boot... then nothing happens. When I try to make a call, "Data network not available" is displayed.
The network here is GSM 900/1800.
I'm currently on the deodexed KB5 2.2 ROM flashed via CWM.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Hmm...I believe there was another method to unlocking it other than the Galaxy S unlocker program you have. It will require root which you have.
Search around the Vibrant forums, I think it was from at least a few months back.

Yes, I found it but I'm not sure wheter it's a lock issue (it said "no codes found") or I have to flash an European modem or something. I'll try it anyway and report any results.
No luck
All the methods work for 2.1 and I'm on Froyo KB5.
Plus it's not really an unlock code issue..
It's rather... the SIM card doing nothing.
- Is it insearted?
Yes
- Does the phone recognize there's a SIM card?
Yes
- If you have a PIN, does it ask for it on boot?
Yes
- Well what's wrong then?
I can't do anything else with the SIM... not even join a network
Did you per any chance lock your SIM card with a PIN code?
Cause if you did, it is asking for the code that you locked it with. . .
Try another, UNLOCKED SIM card just to be sure that's not the issue.
The phone SHOULD ask you for an unlock code only. A pin code request (unless you are reading the unlock code as a pin code) means the SIM card is locked.
The card was unlocked, I put the PIN on purpose later, just to see if it'd recognize that
Then what is the issue? Without the PIN, it recognizes the SIM and loads up fine but doesn't get on any network?
Yes!
And that way it's just a VERY overpowered iPod touch. Would be nice if I could actually make phone calls from it, but if not - whatever.
I remember anything above 2.1 theres an issue with the SGS unlocker on the market. I had to use a different method, and I don't remember where I received the instructions from, but I did find this for you on youtube. Please do watch the whole video as the person has the same problem, but runs you through the steps to unlocking by using a different method.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Swe5O5pChyo
gosh... no dice.
The phone never asks me for any unlock code, just stuck on "Searching"
Try a different modem. If not then try a different rom..may be?
Why not just odin back to stock, reroot, and try to unlock it before flashing a rom

Will try that in the evening and report outcome ^^

[Q] SIM network unlock PIN - after flashing ROM

Hello!
I ask for your help, i have an i9100 (international model) rooted phone (unlocked far as I know), and it was happened was I've just flashed Westcrip's Ressurection ROM on my GS2 and now I cannot connect to my network provider which is T-Mobile HU (I'm in the hungary) because whenever I boot up my phone it comes up with a screen that says "SIM network unlock pin" with only a dialogue box for the 'pin' and to either unlock or dismiss.
I tried to flash new kernel (SiyahKernel, Dorimanx, CM10), multiple versions, I tried to google store galaxy unlocked programs, but failed. What should I do?
Thanks in advance for any help!
try the last few numbers of your sim card unless you have changed that. It is the defult code.

hello,
I've read all the same topic, propose a solution, but it did not help.
When I turn on the phone this message: Insert SIM network unlock pin.
I changed kernel, flashing new modem with odin, I tried the program Omnius for Samsung, all the apps from market, Samsung Galaxy unlock code generator v1.4, but none of them helped.
If anyone knows the solution please write or linked here.
Thank you very much.

That is completely irrelevant and is no excuse to create a duplicate topic. You should have simply replied to the topics already on this subject which was created after the leaked new JB sammy rom.
This will work: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spocky.galaxsimunlock&hl=en
Thanks for the comments. Galaxsim apk program helped.

[Q] Sim locked after restart and new rom

Hi
I have a sgs2. It is originally a bell cellphone/simcard. I now have a telus simcard. The phone now asks for a sim unlock code, when the telus sim card is inside. I have just installed wanamlite 13.0 rom. The phone is rooted, and galaxy s unlock app doesnt seem to work.
A couple of questions. In order to unlock the sim, should I put in the bell simcard, then run the unlocking apps, then get code, write it down. Shut down phone, then install the telus sim card, restart and put in the code from bell sim card?
Im a little fuzzy on the whole process.
The weird thing is that on android 4.0.3 galaxy s unlock will seem to work, and unlock the phone. And it wont re lock after a hard restart. It only seems to stay sim locked under 4.0.4 android.
If anyone could offer some help that would be great. I have also looked into editing nv file with hex editor but I cant seem to find the strings..
Just look for an app called "galaxy sim unlock" and install it and then run it ... u know what to do

And a million others that the user would have found if they would have been bothered to use search for 2 seconds rather then duplicating topics and adding to the ever growing flood of useless threads on XDA.

[Q] Network Lock on Galaxy S2 I9100

Hi folks,
I have a pickle of a situation here that I am finding it hard to grasp why this Network Lock continues to plague me.
Seems I cannot manage unlock a Galaxy S2 handset even with the correct IMEI.
Or to understand what exactly is going on here which brief story as follows.
The IMEI number is written on the back of the phone under the battery.
The code *#06# displays IMEI also displays the correct IMEI.
I then go to the Vodafone Site to unlock: https://unlock.vodafone.com.au/voila/handsetunlock/self-service.html?method=selectService
I enter in the correct IMEI number, after I enter the Captcha code and click next, it replies with the Unlock Code for me.
But every time I enter in the Unlock Code that I was given, it returns: Network Unlock request unsuccessful.
I then flash the phone with Odin to a official XSA version, still the same.
I then return to the Voda Rom and its still the same.
Yet, if I use a Voda sim on either Rom it works perfect.
For the life of me, how does one get past this Network sim lock?
Anybody got any ideas to why or how to solve this matter?
Ok folks, seems to be moving in the right direction for sorting this out.
Turns out, a friend of mine put his sim in, and entered in passwords causing the lock out.
Got in touch with Voda on the phone, they said the main account holder of the phone needed to request the reset.
As it turns out, the girl whom I also asked for assistance (who I got the handset from) also got Vod to resend a new reset code.
Will take 4 working days there about, so at least the problem will or should be solved.
Failing that, just going to fully flash it to some updated fancy rom
Cheers~!

[Q] S3 I9300 (International) NETWORK UNLOCK PROBLEM

Hi,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 locked to T-Mobile on Android 4.3 (baseband: I9300XXUGNA8) meaning it has changed the EFS parition to v2. The phone has been rooted as well. Is there any solution to remove the SIM lock? I have tried reflashing with older versions but the systems wouldn't boot up. I read that it can brick my phone completely. I tried using Vooodo unlocker and GalaxSim but error comes up, undefined. I tried EVERY SINGLE METHOD by using the codes: *#7465625# or *#197328640# but I either get Not registered on network message or some other error. In case of #0011# I can't pass the step 4 (when you type in 1 and the service should appear). The IMEI is fine, everything is fine as long as I'm on T-Mobile sim card (the signal works perfectly). I put any other foreign SIM and it doesn't ask me for the unlock code. Do you know what's the reason? I have bought an unlock code but I can't even use because any other method wouldn't work. Is there anything at all I could do? I'd really appreciate your help.

Try to flash an unbranded version, like this here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=28378
And than try it again with your code.

This particular firmware fails to flash it through Odin. I assume it's designated for GT-I9305, not I9300 ... I have tried the unbranded versions for my model anyway and I usually end up in the bootloop. Any other solution? Thx
Factory reset after Odin flash.
