Hello, to connect on my business account I turned ON encryptation.
To flash my ROM from ICS to JB, I perform a superwipe, and I install JB 4.1.2 revolution HD 17.1
To reconenct on my business account (google apps), I try to encrypt again my device (I know, I'm crazy ) but it's an endless process, I let my device more than 12 hours and process don't finish.
When I intall a new ROM, the free space in internal memory is less than 11Go (I have SGS3 16Go)
My questions :
1 - Is it normal to have less than 11Go after fresh rom installation ?
2 - My encrypted data are really wiped from my device or just hidden somewhere ?
3 - If my data arn't completely wiped, how can I full wipe my device ? (encrypted data include)
4 - Why I can't encrypt my device ?
11 gb is quite a lot...you'll need to use root explorer and look into every nook n corner of your sdcard

Hi,
It is a simple general question but I do not understand how it works for the custom roms... (I have a hawei honor / shendu OS)
When downloaded, it is only a 10 mb file which compared to the full rom is 140mb lighter... is is only a patch which is based on the rom that is already instaled? does the phone download the full rom when trying to install?? if yes how could this one get the network informations as the user (e.g. me) i haven't entered my pin, the network settings have been erased during the wipes (i think there is an automatic 3 wipes before the installation begins).
So... any idea?
I am thinking of installing an alternate ROM called Honamify which is based on Android 4.4 CyanogenMod posted in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2602727
The problem is that I am totally confused after reading about the whole process. I need some guidance from experienced users/developers on how to go about this.
Here are some facts :
- The phone is Sony Ericsson Live With Walkman updated to the last official Ice Cream Sandwich build.
- It has been rooted with eRoot toolkit and most of the applications have been linked to a 2nd ext2 partition on SD card. Some applications like Facebook which were system applications have been converted to user applications and also have been linked to SD card using Link2SD. All updates to system applications have been integrated into system storage.
- The phone bootloader is currently locked.
Here are my questions :
1. Is it possible to take a complete backup of the phone in its present state so that if whatever is done later is unsuccessful it can be restored back to the present state?
2. I understand that it is necessary to unlock the bootloader before installing another ROM. But doing so may cause loss of data and DRM and other features according to Sony. And some posts mention taking a backup of TA partition before unlocking. What is that and how to do it?
3. Some tools show that the phone already has some sort of recovery installed but some others say no. Does this phone come with some factory installed recovery? If not how to install one? Clockworkmod?
4. Will it be possible to have a multiboot setup so that I can select whether to boot the stock or custom ROM?
5. Can we live without the Google applications? Or can we selectively install only some of the Google applications?

1 Yeah. If you have enabled cwm recovery option on your phone. You can just take a backup your whole phone(Of Course excluding the memory card) from the backup and restore menu and restore it later.
2 No data will go if unlock properly. Drm might go if you do it the official way. Chill just remove your sd card before unlocking and remember to backup your wahtsapp chats and sms and contacts(use google sync for contacts) You can reinstall everything again.
3 No. You have to install one. Clockworkmod, ie cwm,Once you unlocked your phone you can just flash custom kernels that come with preinstalled recovery menus
4 Its possible. But its not worth doing it on a 2011 device. Trust me . Youll have to do **** with the sd card as the system doesnt have enough space to hold more than one rom plus we dont really have dualboot kernels.
5 Go to google search and type yourzgapps and click the first link. Even 4.4 gapps are there in the download link its just not mentioned in the thread. Theyre very lite only with essential google apps. Its like only a 14mb download. And yeah you cant live without google apps especially the playstore?
Thanks yash.
How to flash a custom kernel? Using Flashtool software on Windows?
Yeah anytime.
Yes use flash tool. Drivers dont work on windows 8.1 but. So it'll be sad if youre on it

No I have Windows XP on the desktop and 7 on laptop. Both have multiple versions of PCLinuxOS. But I suppose Linux usage here would entail command line.
I suppose if I sit down and do it once I would become confident.
wait for next Honamify update
I've setup Honamify v2 on my live with Walkman. It's good, but look like it has some issue with "google play" compatibility check
For example, My phone can easy install Candy Crush Saga with brand Sony ICS Rom or LegacyXperia (the one Honamify base on).
But in Honamify v2, Google Play said my device don't support.
If you fan of Games. Think twice before install. Or you need to know how to edit buid.prop to make your device compatiblity (not easy with newbie like me)
Ok. Google Play compatibility is critical. Good to know beforehand.
What about other basic functions such as Bluetooth, WiFi, camera etc? Do they work well? Battery life?
pros: battery life, smoothness, wifi strength
It has better battery life then ICS base
Much smoothness then ICS other base Honamify ROM
The corlor in launcher is not real and beautiful like the sony ICS base.
WIFI is stronger with more access point discover in range.
Camera is OK but not much better than cybershot
Look like author has some fix, since link to part 1 has been remove.
Let's wait
for game that not pass compatibility device checking of Google play. I google apk file to download and install. It work. A bit compilicated and hard to update. But at least it ok to play.
Worth for the smooth and GUI of thís ROM.
or you can try to install my newly release rom.. as for the moments it's for LWW only but will support other mdpi's soon..just click my signature

bro ART is only experimental. its not usable for normal usgae.
install a clean LX bulid (honamify rom has to many additions) then u can use art for some time
AFTER INSTALLING MORE THAN 3-5 userapps or using app2sd other mods FORGET ABOUT ART!!!!
First you need to enable development option. Go to setting, about phone, tap 7 times on build number (when tapping several times, there will be message notice you need to tap .... time to enable development)
Then you can choose ART instead Davilk in RUntime (in development)
Notice that you have to do that soon when you install your ROM to be sure not confict with much application you setup later.
And when changing to ART require a very long time for first reboot.

I've tried that already...
I'm using Honimify v2 like you too.
First, do you see Development option. If not try to enable it.
Then try to enable ART in runtime select.
The only problem with ART is it need alot of space. Especially with Facebook
Thanks guys. I enabled ART successfully!!
I just reflash the ROM and enable ART with no other activity.
System UI is really smooth!!
to run ART well, you should using mounts2SD to transfer cache and other system apps from internal memory to your SD card.
After using it, no longer worry about low memory to install apps.
First backup your data from SD to your computer (should copy in MSC mode)
Then partition your SD card to 2 part. 1 in FAT 32; 1 in EXT4 (about 2GB is enough). If you don't have a card reader (most laptop help) you can using Aparted (an apps to partition your SD card directly form your phone, searching it on google play). You can also create a SWAP partition (to swap RAM) if your SD card is fast enough.
Second you can using mounts2SD to setup other things. The first reboot will take long time. But later is OK.
You can do all these thing when your phone memory become full due to many apps install . With ART turn on, about 5 apps install will take almost your phone memory.
My phone using honimify v2 (base on Mike rom CM11.0).
does art really makes different in gaming? i installed art last week and titanium backup force close so as other apps.. most of the time it force close..

ART work well, loading faster. switching between game and main screen good.
I have updated cm12 which has upgraded the system to Lollipop. After rebooting, some apps were installed but reported not installed, some are constantly crashing and i can't login into my google account. In oder words between my Nexus 4 and the first cell phone at the moment there are no difference (just the price ).
I can't connect to the wifi though I can use the 3G.
The apps that i want to work are mainly the gapps: i tried to flash them and install the gapps 5.01, first mini, but it didn;t work, then full but i get an error msg saying that i don;t have enough space on partition. I have manually uninstalled all the gapps, and 70% of all my apps, still i get the error msg that there is no space on partition: what should i do? I am feeling so lost! :crying:
Can somebody tell me what I am doing wrong??? I have read several posts and replies but i can't find a solution.
My configuration: Nexus 4 - 8Gb
CM - 12 - nightly 2015-20-01
Gapps Stock package
Hello everyone
I have an old GS3 and time is starting to take it's toll on performance. Therefore I am thinking of rooting it to improve performance. (I ve already done pre rooting stuff to improve performance like disabling bloatware and turning off graphics from developer options).
The problem is I belong in the category, if you are not sure how to do it don't do it! So I want to be careful about it.
I am mot a multimedia heavy type of guy so half of my 8 Gb storage is free.
What I want to do is intstall CM11 (to upgrade from android 4.3 to 4.4.4) and afterwards add a 4 Gb SD card and use it as RAM.
I know I first have to start with backing up contacts and Data.
Then I plan on installing CM11 with the steps from that vidoe/guide:
How to install CyanogenMod 11 on Samsung Galaxy s3 - Papp Ferencz [Can't post URL]
1. Download snapshot: cm-11-20141115-SNAPSHOT-M12-i9300.zip (212.87 MB)
[A new snapshot just came up at CM11 site, cm-11-20150901-SNAPSHOT-XNG3CAO3G0-i9300.zip, I m thinking of using this instead.]
2. Google and download android 4.4.4 gapps
3. Copy the files on the internal memory.
4. Boot in recovery more: Home+Power+Volume_Up
5. Wipe Data/Factory reset
6. Wipe Cache partition
7. Go to Advanced mode and wipe Dalvik cache
8. Install zip -> Install from Sd card -> 0\ -> cm-11-…
9. And the gapps-kk-20140105-signed
Will this, to the best of your knowledge (I know there are no guarantees) do it right?
Then I plan to use an 4 GB class 10 (probably) SD card and use that guide
site androidpit /increase-phone-ram [can't post url]
[Scroll to the second section for details:
How to increase your RAM when you have root access
In this section we're going to explain how to increase your RAM with a rooted device. The trick involves creating a partition on your SD card, which will act as a secondary source of RAM. To do this, we will be using the ROEHSOFT RAM Expander (SWAP) app ... ] etc
Do you guys also know if this will work?
I m open to alternative implementations as well if you guys have tested something and are confident it will owrk on the I9300 int version.
Thanks a lot for your help
You should post this in q&a but if u want to install cm u don't need to root just flash cwm and install cm from there
Thanks, I ll repost at the Q&A section.
Also I don't want just to install CM but also increase RAM to boost performance and I need to be rooted for that I think.
