Hi there.
I have an S2 (GT-I9100) running a rooted stock 2.3.5 (!) firmware.
I have Clockwork mod 4.0.0.2 installed.
Can I just download a regular intl release and have it installed by following the simple instructions on the main thread or am I missing anything?
Would it be a matter of simply restoring my backup if I screw up?
Thanks.
Make a nandroid backup with ur CWM.
Recovery mode > backup and restore > create backup (choose if internal sd or to external)
Now u have a backup u anyway (if phone boots ) can restore if something happens.
- For flashing load the CM files + newest gapps to sd card
- Than backup all apps u need
- go to recovery and do a full wipe (!)
* wipe data / factory reset
* wipe cache
* advanced > wipe dalvik cache
* mount and storage > format data/system/cache
- flash the Rom (CM)
- flash gapps
- Reboot
That's it!
PS: if u want to go back just go to recovery mode and go to backup and restore > restore (choose where u backup data)

Make sure you run the latest CWM before flashing 10.1 or you might encounter some issues.
Thanks all.
So CWM 4.0.0.2 will not be good enough?
Is there an easy way to upgrade cwm to the latest textual version? (4.0.1.5 if I am not mistaken). Do I have to go through the "guess which image/kernel to put" all over again?
Thanks again.

I am currently using mik_os 6.5(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946354) and Clockwork Mod recovery. I tried to install 6.5.2 on top of it (wiping cache and dalvik cache) but it gets stuck on the lg logo. After going through the first post, I even formatted /system but that didn't help either.
Finally, I flashed 6.5 and it is working fine. Any pointers would be helpful.
1) mounts and storage/ wipe cache
2) mounts and storage/ wipe system
3) wipe cache partition
4) wipe data or factory reset
5) install zip from sd card
And blowww!! You have 6.5.2 flashed ;-)

Boot into clockwork recovery.
go to backup and restore -create a backup of your current rom (Note:If already backup has been done then avoid this step, backup created using amonra or thunderg wont support restoring using clockwork)
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
mount and storage-format system
mount and storage-mount usb storage (make sure usb debugging is enabled)
copy the rom zip file to the root of your sd card
unmount
install zip from sd card-choose the rom zip and install
flashing takes 3-5 min
reboot!
just remeber to backup all ur app using titanium and restore after a fresh install and whnever u update no need to wipe anything just flash over the old version until unless mention by the dev
I didn't want to do a factory reset, however; I still went for it after doing a nandroid backup.
I followed all the steps mentioned by sshbz, but it still got stuck at the boot logo (the one with website address written).
Finally, thanks to the Nandroid backup, I reverted back to 6.5 without having to go through titanium restore.
For 6.5.2, the rom link is given in post 1 and mik_os had also posted a fix for clockword mod users.
I have tried the below
1. Install only the rom
2. Install rom and then the fix
Neither worked. I think I would have to wait for the next update now unless someone can make this work for me.
Can someone give me FULL instructions for flashing this coming from Miui AOSP, without Odin? From flashing the Rom to installing the google apps (dont know how to)... I havent flashed a WHILE. Thanks guys
im assuming you have rom manager installed for this and the rom you want installed (trigger redux) is at the root of your micro sd .... once you have those done follow the steps
1. in rom manager hit flash clockworkmod recovery then pick vibrantmtd then pick 3.x.x because we are on gingerbread
2. hit install rom from sd card and find the rom's zip folder and select it afterwords something else will pop up with 3 0ptions, put a check on all 3 (backup rom, wipe data and cache and dalvik cache) then hit install
BY SELECTING WIPE DATA AND CACHE YOUR APPS AND STUFF WILL BE GONE WHEN THE NEW ROM BOOTS UP SO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING YOU WANT IS BACKED UP
IF WIPE DATA AND CACHE IS NOT SELECTED THERE IS ONLY A SLIGHT CHANCE THAT YOU WON'T HAVE TO use ODIN!!
http://www.appbrain.com/app/app-backup-reinstall/tw.nicky.AppBackupReinstall
this link has an app that backs up all your apps to your sd card or you can use titanium back up to back up everything
I went from Muiu to redux and what I did is this: (might be overkill but its what I did and everything worked great)
1. Reboot into recovery
2. clear data/factor reset
3. mounts and storage > format system, format data, format cache
4. install zip from sd card > trigger redux
5. install zip from sd card > gapps
6. advanced > wipe dalvic cache, fix permissions
7. reboot
8. let rom boot up and sit for 10 mins and reboot
9. enjoy
That is the correct way ...Guy above ...

Hi so i have CM7 on my SGS2 i want to install cm9 on it but i want to erase everything.
i made a backup of all my apps using titanium backup just in case.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419102
its says this.
If you're a bloody noob and getting confused by following simple instructions, go down and read about using the noob-proof ODIN method.
First time installing CyanogenMod 9 to your Galaxy S II, or coming from another ROM:
- READ FAQs: http://teamhacksung.org/wiki/index.p...sked_Questions
- Make sure you're running ICS bootloaders lower than LPH: Download (flash as PDA with odin or extract and $ sudo heimdall flash --primary-boot boot.bin --secondary-boot Sbl.bin)
- make sure you're running a proper working CWM like the one from CM7
- Copy GApps and CM9 ZIPs to your internal SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash CM9 zip
- Flash GApps zip
- DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET (otherwise your calendar sync will not work)
- Reboot
- Don't restore Apps using Titanium Backup!
Upgrading from earlier version of CyanogenMod 9:
- Copy CM9 ZIP to your internal SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash CM9 zip
- Wipe cache partition and dalvik-cache
- Reboot
Using the noob-proof ODIN method:
- Download CM9 Resurrection Edition
- Download GApps and put it onto your internal sdcard
- Open Odin
- Choose cm-9-XXXXXXXX-ODIN-galaxys2.tar.md5 as PDA
- Boot your phone into download mode
- Connect your device via usb to your computer
- Wait till Odin has fully recognized your phone
- Hit the start button and wait till the flash process is finished
- Device boots automatically into recovery
- Flash GApps, wipe cache and dalvik-cache
- Reboot into CM9
- Follow above steps to update CM9 to lastest available version (Upgrading from earlier version of CyanogenMod 9)
should i do the noob list?
will it erase all my phone and make a clean install? (thats what i want)

Yes, do only this, and yes it will wipe everyone.
Do nothing, from clock work mod format data, system, cache, now flash from internal SD card. Don't have to do anything.
And do not restore anything from cm7. No titanium backups/restores

so i actually installed it but i still have all the folders from CM7 like program and games folders and all the attachments i downloaded from emails and stuff.
how do i erase them all?
Just to be sure, you are ok with whole sd format? Easiest way imo is just doing the full wipe from recovery and just install the zip. You could also format sd from there so pictures and everything deletes

already told you read again, unless you are talking about the left overs, for that wipe the internal storage.
so what i did was, i erased everything manually from the sd card, but i have noticed that the phone is using the external SD card to save eeeeverything from pictures to App data and the internal memory is empty.
what do i do?

Hi everybody ,
I need your help to install Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 on my s2 i9100 , now i'm on ics 4.0.3 official .
Read the install instructions on the first page of the thread, follow the instructions. It's not exactly rocket surgery.

Boot into recovery
Select wipe data/factory reset
Select clean to install a new rom
Install rom zip
Install gapps

If u get status 7 error then instead of flashing philz ...Flash any siyah/dorimanx kernle for ics.
Good luck.

The method for rooting and flashing CWM
1) Download Odin (http://androidfirmwares.net/Tools)
2) Download root kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1103399)
-- just scroll down and search for ur version (settings>about phone>basis version)
3) Flash it via Odin
-- Extract .zip
-- load the root kernel in Odin (as PDA)
-- Put SGSII in download mode (Vol-, Home and Powerbutton)
-- Press "Start"
4) Phone should reboot by itself
5) Turn it off, then start phone in recovery mode (Vol+, Home and Powerbutton)
6) Check if u have enough space for backup on sd card (to be sure: 2GB)
7) Go to:
-- Backup and restore
-- Backup to internal sd card (for sure u can choose external if have and want it there)
-- confirm it and then let do the phone the backup (can take a while [5-20 min])
method to flash rom
1) Download Rom
2) Put it on internal sd card
3) Go into recovery mode (see above)
4) DO A FULL WIPE!! (U won't loose ur backup on sd card [but u can copy it to PC, too, if u want])
-- wipe data/ factory reset
-- wipe cahe partition
-- advanced > wipe dalvik cache
-- mount and storage > format data/system/cache
5) Then flash Rom via recovery
-- install .zip from sd card > choose .zip from sd card
-- Select the downloaded Custom Rom and flash it
6) Reboot and u r done!
hope this helps
