[Q] Root Neo V 4.0.4 4.1.B.0.587 - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Hello guys..
I am new to XDA and new to rooting..
I have unlocked my bootloader..now could anyone help me with a step by step guide on how to root my phone??
Thank You

Seriously man, have you even bothered to check sticky thread's?
This became crazy. It's not even funny any more, people asking questions while answers are already written and even made sticky threads.
Even googling for a "Root Neo V 4.0.4 4.1.B.0.587" which is btw your thread title, gives you XDA thread with instructions..
Sorry for being harsh but this is unbelievable..

YES!!..i have read couple of threads..
a thread by you..but it only shows for locked bootloader..
another thread by vimjam..but it doesn't work..it says extract zip file from recovery mode..how do I enter recovery mode if i havent even rooted..
then there were couple of other threads..but all for different firmwares..nothing for .587

1) read them BETTER, it even says in thread title that it's for locked AND unlocked and even says that it's for that exact firmware which you have,
2) you don't need to be rooted to enter in recovery, since you are on unlocked bootloader, that's why there is kernel which hve CWM,
3) always ask in similar threads instead of creating new threads.

OK..
to start with..
this is your thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1678690 .... in the root segment for unlocked bootloaders you have posted this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1183465 ....but it talks abt NEO only...and shouldnt be the clockworkmod recovery after i root??

Seriously man... These noobs keep spamming the threads... PLz moderators close this thread and take serious actions on such lazy ppl..

It's kernel with CWM recovery only, so it doesn't bring up system at all it boots directly to recovery, so it works for both. Otherwise I wouldn't say it's for Neo and Neo V.
Just follow instructions and everything will be ok.

Btw Lone Wanderer has also provided a noob solution guide!
And it includes. 587 as well!
And as for Madfysh's thread, I am sure his thread has it for sure,if not,the method remains the same! Just requires a bit of a thinking!

I wouldn't say anything if I didn't write "for hoooootboot you can use this kernel: and then link to kernel" and yet you still flashed it instead of hotboot it
I also told you in this very thread: It's kernel with CWM recovery only, so it doesn't bring up system at all it boots directly to recovery
Just flash back stock (or any else) kernel.

Ok i flashed it..but there is just one tiny problem...A stupid friend of mine flashed AOKP while we were stuck in recovery mode...now i flashed some old kernel..but the phone doesnt turn on..it keeps rebooting..so whats the next step?? should i hotboot the kernel from your thread or what??
Sorry for the inconvenience...

First make up, who is doing that phone, you or your friend. Can't be both. Or you will end up in this kind of situation.
Aokp rom, aokp kernel..
Ics rom, ics kernel
Gb rom, gb kernel
Logically, right?
As i said read some basic things. Or things can end up badly..

"A stupid friend of mine"... Im guessing that stupid friend of urs was your brain.. im sorry I couldn't resist..
First thing u need to do is switch off ur phone and put it aside before u hardbrick it and forget about it..
Then goto every single sticky thread and READ..nd then Read again..and again..
Then im pretty sure that stupid friend of urs will come up with a genius solution..
By now u should have realised why everyones askin u to read first..before doin anythin..

You seem to have one disaster after another! Why don't you - sorry, your friend - just use the phone and stay stock. It is very good as is. You are not experienced enough to do any of this.
I realise you only learn by trying, but there is a limit... you may be on a one-way road to Bricksville

Root is not needed kernel is part of the firmware .
Flash a stock Samsung rom from Stock rom thread or from posted ICS roms in General via Odin .
Alternative wait for your phones upgrade via KIES or use Checkfus to download firmware .
Root is only required if you are flashing a custom firmware that requires CWM and Root and most do .
jje
After installing kies ,,, a frimware update show up ,,
now i think its better to update the frimeware throw kies right ??
and is it possible to install ics with kies ??? or i need to flash costume kernel with CWM recovery !!
thanks in advance
ok
personally I would look at Chainfire topic on easy rooting etc, or you could use SuperOneClickRoot & then install any number of custom roms from the I9100 android development section here at XDA

But they must remember how to unlock "your" phone.

ok...am not new to androids, infact i do a bit o' developing. now, a friend of mine sold me his x10 (white, unlocked, international version).
i have had LG's and Samsung's before, but never have had the pain as such. rooting and installing CWM and then installing a ROM was effortlessly simple.
am thinking of
1. unlocking the bootloader
2. installing an OC kernel
3. then testing out the awesome ROMs u all have....AND
4. port the superawesome PRADA ROM to the x10.
so, if any of you might kindly consider showing me the way round here, i shall be grateful.
P.S. - i tried to follow the tutorials on the general section, but i feeel am gonna mess it all up (and i frankly don't have much time getting it back again and start over from scratch). so please....

voila
I guess what you mean is how to start right?
maybe:
1. download the rom you'd like to go for and copy it to SD card
2. download the kernel flash using Flashtool
3. install the rom using Recovery
whether OC or not depends on the kernel, so watch out and pick up the right one.

OK. I'm also a noob, but I rooted my xperia s (with locked Bootloader) last week with this solution:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1754429
If you read through the first post completly you will find the following phrase:
"Guide:
Before you root your device, your device must running Gingerbread. Flash it back to Gingerbread if your device are running Ice Cream Sandwich Open Run.dat and it will lead you through the process"
If you are on ICS you have to flash black to Gingerbread with Flashtool. Here the link to the Flashtool thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1588586
And here the link to the xperia s firmware thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599303
There is no simple root-method at the moment, perhaps later, I don't know. Keep in mind: This is a new device and the development of a dedicated root-method keeps a lot of time. Please take a look at other threads and read through. Collect as much information as possible.

I had done that. When using the flashtool I had kept that option checked but when I did successfully (no errors messages in flashtool) flashed and downgraded to GB from ICS, I was not able to download any apps from play store. I was also unable to login into google chat. I was able to use my gmail app without any issues though. Is this normal?
I did xda and google search on this issue about not being able to login to google chat etc, almost 90% of them said that you have to remove your primary google account which is not possible to do unless you root or do a factory reset.

[Q] Neo (MT15i) Rooting

Hello,
I'm new to this forum and to rooting. I currently have a SE Neo (MT15i) with ICS 4.0.4 (4.1.B.0.431 or something close). I have unlocked my bootloader, i have installed fastboot, flashmode whatever. I want to root my phone, which program should I use and how do I do it? I have no idea what kernel is, what roms are etc...? Can you please tell me what they are? Thanks!
Update: I went on several threads such as the guide in the Neo V Dev, it was old, I'm not sure if it would work on my version right now.
I also went on Doomlord's kit which was about rooting a .562.
EDIT: After so much researching, I found out that my device is just NEO not NEO V

for hoooootboot you can use this kernel: http://www.4shared.com/file/LMJWQkxw/recoveryNeo.html or here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1183465
flash: fastboot flash boot name_of_kernel.img
hotboot: fastboot boot name_of_kernel.img

Please explain a little further for a noob like me? XD
Also, I saw on the flashtool UI, there is a button called Root. Does it work on my phone? Should I do it?
Hi Mate,
you can root .431 by below method:
Rooting ..431
1. Flash .431 firmware , ignore if you are already having.
2. copy rootxperia.zip and Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip to sd card
3. Fastboot recoveryneo.img
4. Flash the above 2 files
4. flash .431 kernel
search for the zip,img and kernel in this forum , you will get it.
i hope u know how to fast boot, else search in this forum.
thanks.

Follow the same procedure if you are in .587 firmware (jus replace the .431 with .587 in that procedure)

From .431, how do I upgrade to .587? I tried updating through PCC, but it says mine's up to date.

As I said, since you are new, you should read some tutorials and threads.
You can ether hotboot that kernel using fastboot.exe or you can even use flashtool to flash/hotboot kernels, just pick fastboot mode.

I think that won't work in this case.

Why flashing both zip's? One is enough.

You said flashing one, but which one do you recommend flashing?
Also, will this brick my phone? Again, just making sure -.-

Tehnically it's same, both are superuser app, which you can update, once you boot up your phone, from the google play.
You can use the one which you can find in that same thread.

And I don't see reason to brick your phone. Just follow instructions, many have done same, including me, and succeeded.

Gud to know one is enough . will follow on going forward.
thanks for the tip.
I think I've rooted it now, using superusersomething.zip
I got a few more questions though....
1. If I reset my phone to factory settings, will it unroot my phone?
2. Flashing to another custom firmware like say to Pureness, will it unroot it?
Thanks guys, couldn't have done it without you.

1) superuser is now system app, so no, factory reset should not remove root access,
2) 99% of custom rom's are already pre-rooted.

Haha, now I'm using the stock mt15i kernel (.587) with Night-Elf Kernel v1.5 ^_^
If I install both Superuser and SuperSU, will it work? Or it'll just destroy my phone?
