Archos 70 driving me mad - please help - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
Christmas before last I got my parents an Archos 70, not the version with the HDD. I also got them a 32gb micro sd card.
Here are the About Device details:
Model: Archos 70 Internet Tablet
Firmware: 2.4.83 (Android 2.2.1)
Board version A70S-V6
OMAP: ES1.2
I'm in the UK, it was bought here via e2save online.
The device is slow I think primarily because it's running out of space, I don't seem to be able to install apps to the SD storage of which there is plenty of free space...
The device settings > Manage Applications has mentions of:
System storage
Internal storage
I don't see mentions of SD storage for apps??
A colleague said that as of Android 2.2 Apps can be put on to SD card, I cannot see a way to do it...
Tonight I installed App2SD ver 2.72 (1739) [sam lu] via the Google play store and although it has given me a list of movable apps it STILL only gives me the option to go between internal or system - not the SD card??
I've got about 27gb free on the sd card, it has photos etc on it. Do I have to manually create some system folders or something for Android to twig that it is available for app usage?
Please help. (Thanks in advance)

HTC HD2 - Android Nexus - Apps won´t install to SD?

Hey guys,
My phone is troubling me at the moment. Its a rooted HTC HD2 running the Android Nexus.
Now the problem is, that when I install an app from the marketplace it always installs it to my internal memory (approx 128mb) which by now is full.
My SD card has 10GB free space and only has music, videos etc on it but no apps.
I thought that once my internal memory was full it would automatically install the apps to my SD card but it doesn´t do that. It just wont let me download anymore apps and tells me there is insufficent memory.
How do I get it to install the apps to my SD?
Thank you!
Bump! .....

Internal sd or external sd?

Hi to everyone,
I have 16 GB version of sgs 2 and it shows I have 11.5 GB free space as internal and 8GB free space as external and it is ok for me. What I dont understand is when I download apps from Google Play does it install to internal sd ? ( 11.5 GB ) because when I looked at storage usage my space becoming less from rom side which I have 1.2 GB free space. How can I install all apps to internal sd ?
thanks for your help
When you download an app from Google Play, it will go to your internal storage. If you want, you can move it to your internal SD card by settings-apps-all-yourApp-move to SD (simplest way).
If you want to move it to the external sd card, use apps such as Link2Sd (on market), which needs root access.

Actually what I want is to use internal SD because I have 16 gb free and I dont want to install apps to my external sd card because when I unplug it I wont have chance to use apps since it is installed sd card beyond of it I wanna use my sd card just for my photos and some musics. So should I take a rest if it will install apps directly to internal sd?
edit : what is the reason that when I install apps total space 1.97 gb decreases? if I am installing apps to internal storage where it has 11.5 gb ?
Storage available for applications
Hi all,
I have an Sii gt-i9100g running ICS 4.03 (non-rooted).
Recently I've been getting an error when applications try to update: "Application cannot be installed in the default install location".
So I checked my phone storage.
phone memory: 1.97Gb
Applications: 647mb
Free: 247mb
USB storage has about 10.5Gb available.
I uninstalled a few applications I didn't need on a regular basis and then the phone was able to update the installed applications successfully.
I went in to application management and there's no option to move the installed applications to USB storage (I don't have an external SD card)
So this raises a few concerns:
1: How come there's a mystery 1.1 gigabytes that isn't accounted for in the phone storage? I thought all of Android ICS was stored in that missing 4GB of USB storage memory...
2: If the phone doesn't allow further installations to phone memory when there's only about 200mb available, and if the phone has reserved 1.1 gigabytes for some hidden purpose, then is it true that without buying an SD card, we only really have about 700MB available for applications?!
3: Why isn't the option to move applications to USB storage available under ICS? I believe this was available in Gingerbread.
Anyway I could be wrong with all of this, I'm new to the SII, but if its the case that this supposedly 16GB device only truly has 700MB available for apps without an External SD card, then I'm gonna be pretty angry.
This is from another forum and same problem like mine

Let me explain somethings you guys have failed to understand (the beginner's way):
1.Your galaxy SII has 16Gig of inbuilt memory
2. the 16G was partitioned by Samsung into 2.
3. First partition is for System (1.97Gig), while the second partition is for Storage (11.49Gig).
4. Apps are installed by default into the System (reserved) partition (1.97)
5. System partition contains preinstalled system apps and media content + the apps you installed.
- therefore, even if you are just opening your phone for the first time, some part of the 1.97Gig will be used up significantly
6. When you connect your phone to PC, only your Second partition (11.49G), is mounted so that you can transfer files to your phone. That's why this storage is often referred to as Internal SD.
7. Apps are installed on the System partition by default for faster loading.
8. Even though apps are installed by default on the system (reserved) partition, some of the apps can also be moved to the internal SD.
This can be achieved in two ways:
a) without installing app:
- Goto Settings > Apps > select app of your choice, especially the big ones, > Select Move to SD card
b)with third-party apps:
Apps like titanium backup, app2SD etc can move any app to your SD.
Note:
1. Moving Launchers and Widgets to SD will break their function, so do not do this
2. this process can be necessary when you run out of space on System (reserved) partition.
9. Your MicroSD card is referred to as External SD
If you have more questions, let me know

Thanks for detailed explanations but What if I dont have an external minisd card and I want to use 11.5 gb of internal sd ? For example HTC One X has built in 32 gb space and it doesnt have any sd card slot right? so they use internal sd for everything like in iphone ?
I found a topic at xda to change usage like this :

can you look at this ?

1. The HTC will still have a system reserved partition.
2. Yes, you can use the internal SD.
check my previous post, I'd already explained how to move apps to Sd (internal)
If you understand ADB, you can install apps directly to SD card, but that's a little advance
this app (free) makes moving Application to SD very easy

Hi Jokesy,
I've got a problem.
After I moved some apps to SD Card (using Link2SD or Titanium Backup), they are gone from home screen, app drawer list, and even in the list of installed apps they still missing. However, the files are still in disk but for some reasons, the OS cant detect them.
They only came back (to home screen and app drawer) after I perform Hot Boot.
Could you please explain why that was happening?
And how to avoid that problem?
I am using 4.1.2 Wanamlite XWLSW and stock kernel.
Thanks,

Which launcher/homescreen launcher are you using?
Instead of hot boot, just go to options and restart your homescreen launcher if it's supported.

hmmm, I'm using TouchWiz Launcher. I dont think it was caused by launcher, because I checked my application list in Titanium Backup when I rebooted normally, the missing apps were listed as uninstalled.
For some reasons, apps that moved to SD Card, only installed (or loaded) if I reboot using Hot Boot

That's weird. Try moving the apps to SD using Titanium backup, also try another launcher e.g Holo or Nova launcher and see what happens.

I tried using Link2SD and Titanium Backup, but after reboot normally, they are still gone. I tried Smart Launcher, but they stil didnt appear. Because they were listed as uninstalled. The files are there, but the system doesnt load them. Must still do hot reboot first before the system loads them.
I guess I'll take 1 example for disappearing app, this information taken from Link2SD (after Hot Boot):
Temple Run 2 Version 1.2.1 (on SD Card)

What actually Hot Boot does and normal reboot does not?

[Q] Prestigio PMP5101c - Internal memory/storage

Hello,
since Christmas I'm a happy owner of Prestigio PMP5101c.
But I've installed a lot of apps, ran out of free space and found out that I can't move the apps to the external SD card, but there's only option to move it to the internal storage (the tablet memory is separated into internal memory/internal storage), so it seems like the external SD card is good only for movies, music, etc.
I downloaded some apps (like APP2SD), but it recognizes the internal storage as an SD card and the external SD card isn't even showing in there.
Is there a way (through rooting, custom firmware) how I can change this? Or maybe a config file?
Thank you very much for you help. :good:

Gionee Elife s5.1 - Internal Storage Issue

I am having Gionee s5.1 phone with 16GB storage (no SD Card support) running on 4.4.2 Android version. The phone storage divided into 2 sections:
6.25 - This is called Internal Storage. Android version is installed on this with pre installed applications.
9.75 - This is used for media storage and currently no file or images in this storage.
I have uninstall all the unnecessary applications (Pre-installed) from the phone and keep only Cleanmaster, Whatsapp, Facebook Messagner and imo. I have automatic update of apps is off as well as from google play store.
Now the problem is, when I bought this phone it has around 2.3 GB space available and a week back, with above configuration and application, it shows mes only 471 MB space left. I have gone through each and every application manually and removed the cache also used Cleanmaster for the same but no help.
Someone told me to do Factory Reset to resolve this and I do last week. At that time my internal storage back to 2.63 GB free of 6.25 GB allocated and I am happy. Again I configured my phone with above software and disabled the auto update of apps from google apps a week ago. Today, when I go to Settings -> Storage, it shows only 400 MB space left of 6.25 GB. I am not sure what to do and how to deal with this situation. I googled solutions to deal with it like root the phone (King root used) and use Link2SD or App2SD to move the apps but those app said SD partition not mount. I tried minipartition wizard to partition for 9.75GB as shown on the various blogs, but my phone shows message of Corrupted SD Card. No luck...
Can any one let me know how can I merge internal storage (6.25 GB) with phone storage (9.75 GB) to use the phone without any issue? Or
How can I use the Phone Storage as Internal Storage and move applications to Phone storage?
Urgent help is greatly appreciated...
Same problem after i updated to lollipop.
Is this thread resolved?
I have the same mobile phone.
I used to be able to move apps to phone storage ( built-in sd card) but when i upgraded to lollipop, the "move to phone storage" button was gone. All my apps were saved in internal storage and so my phone is running slow.
Anybody know how to solve this?
Thanks in advance!

Jet Opto tablet running 4.4.2 - struggling with moving Apps to SD card despite root

Hi All,
I have a Jet Opto tablet with 16GB of internal storage running Android 4.4.2 model RSEIII. I’d like to install applications such as Amazon Prime & Plex onto an external SD card as the internal memory fills up extremely fast. The internal memory appears to have been split 2GB for applications and 11GB for ‘media’. I have rooted the tablet using Kingoroot and tried the full version of Link2SD but am struggling, possibly because it looks like when trying to move Amazon Prime the media partition appears to be the only SD card. Using root explorer I can see the external SD card (which I’ve formatted 2G FAT32 and 28GB EXT4). It is possible to move applications to the 11GB partition but I’m after more space. It’s a tablet from an Audi and I’d rather not change the ROM unless there’s a surefire way of backing up the original so I can restore it later. I’d be grateful for any help – if you need any more info please let me know.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions
