Instaling AOSP, CM10 or AOKP queries - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm looking to swap roms to SuperNexus which is by all account an AOSP rom.
I've learnt that you have to use FAT32 as your file system as it will corrupt the data on the card forcing a reformat if you don't.
So i can format to FAT32 no problem but I am also planning on using the ext2internal mod and i was wondering if i should format both my internal SD as well as my external SD as FAT32 or not?
I have an i9300 and a 64GB sdxc class 10 card.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

[Q] CyanogenMod 10.1 Nightlies SD card format

Flashed the 20130128 nightly coming from Jelly Beans. When I rebooted the phone the (empty) 64gb SD Card was "damaged". I tried to format it via the phone and that didn't help.
After looking into other posts I keep seeing that it needs to be formatted as a FAT32 but that this wasn't recommended for cards 32gb and higher. Is there anything special I need to do after flashing 4.2??
Thanks for the help...

There is nothing wrong about reformatting the Sd card to FAT32. You just lose the ability to transfer files over the size of 4GB. You're going to need to reformat the sdcard on your pc by using a third party program.
AOSP ROMs do not support exFAT.

[Q] Are 32GB Sd cards safe for custom kernels?

I have a 32 GB sd card.. and I want to flash a custom rom.. some of them says that I have to format my SD card to fat32 if you have a 64GB card. DO I have to do this since I have 32? If yes, how do I format it to fat32 (sorry being a noob)

No you don't need to. I do however have mine as fat32.
To format it you need to insert it in a pc and right click the card name and format.
I have no luck with the Jedi roms and sdcards. They say to reformat the card with a particular fat32 block size..but I have a feeling that is what killed my sdcard. I have been using jelly bean swap kernel with a 64gb sdcard with no problems thus far (knock on wood)

[Q] EXT4 Support on microSD

So I was thinking of getting a 64GB microSD card, but I also plan to get a build of CM10.1 once it becomes stable for this device. I hear that AOSP kernels lack the ExFATfs files required to mount sd cards larger than 32GB id they are FAT formatted.
I was wondering if CM10.1 will be able to read ext4 formatted cards as this would remove this limitation and allow me to enjoy my extra large SD
The alternative is that I would get an SD that is half the size.
Thanks in Advance,
Macravin

Formatting micro sdxc 64gb

Hi,
Atm I am using temasek v5 and I am trying to format my micro sdxc 64gb card. But all solutions refer to the settings menu but there is no option to format. Maybe that is a 4.4 issue?
Formatting it on my PC works but it can't be read by my phone.
Seriously no one has this problem and everyone can format his/her external sd card on 4.4?

SD Card SanDisk 64GB not working on Custom ROMS

As the title says it all maybe there's some advice or tips from you guys to get it recognized on my Poco F1.
I'm on OmniRom and after booting up the device with SD card it freezes all and got automatic reboot.
On LOS 16 I got bootloop.. Don't even booting up at all.
I need it because I need to put some files there to flash xiaomi.eu and that ofcourse will delete internal storage.
I'm not experienced with the MTP flashing or similar options but everybody is welcomed to help me with step by step instructions.
Thanks allot in advance Poco Fans:silly:
I don't think the roms support exfat microsd cards yet. There's a workaround though: format your sd card to FAT32 using a program on your pc (you will need another program because windows by default can't format large sdcards to fat32). The thing is that FAT32 doesn't support 4gb+ files so that could be an issue but at least it's better than no sdcard at all right.
Another option is to move the files manually temporarily to your pc using MTP so you can copy them back when you've flashed xiaomi.eu

Thanks for your Info. I remember that TWRP could format to FAT32 as well?
Or maybe I could buy another SD card with FAT 32 Format already?
adding exFAT support in rom is not a big thing... our kernel supporting exfat so its just the rom which needs some patches or commits!!
