Hello, really hoping someone can help me with this. I have the locked bootloader 2.3.5 on my photon 4g. I rooted the device and installed bootstrap and tried flashing RockoDev's locked ROM. Before I did this, I did a nandroid backup of my stock ROM onto my SD card. I did a factory reset, wiped the cache and wiped the delvic cache all from the recovery menu before trying to flash the ROM. It said it was successful, however, I'm stuck at the Dual Core screen. Is there anyway I can get back into recovery to reload my nandroid backup I did?

then flash this rom instead

The link to the solution you provided is for someone who is able to unlock their photon. The problem is I'm on the dreaded 2.3.5 that cannot be unlocked. I can get to the regular Android Recovery with the robot and triangle, I have tried wiping the cache partition and factory reset. I can access the apply update from sdcard option, but if I try to navigate to the clockworkmod/backup location, I see the nandroid backup I made, but it won't let me select the image. I'm assuming it's because I need a zip file. Is there anyway I can get the phone to boot up into CWM recovery using fastboot maybe?
I thought you were in a bootloop. Since factory reset didn't help, I had to follow this thread when I was in your same situation. I'm on the locked. 2.3.5 ota.

Hi Guys,
I really need help here.
I have a rooted and unlocked boot loader (Revolutionary) HTC Evo 3d. I already had clockwork recovery installed but when i opened ROM manager and clicked on download ROms it asked me to download clockwork recovery.......so i did. The phone got stuck so i pulled the battery out. Now i simply cannot get past the HTC boot logo. I can get into recovery but i do not want to factory reset as i don't have a backup of my data. Is there ANY way to do ANYTHING to fix this?
Would really appreciate any help in this regard. Any suggestions????

Try booting into recovery ...once there wipe dalvik cache, and also clear the option that says "data cache" will edit so I can reboot and get the exact wording but its data clear cache is what you want to clear as well..then once complete reboot phone and it should get you going. What ROM are you flashing?
**its wipe data/factory reset**
Clear that then reboot see if that helps

1) wipe cache
2) dalvik
3) data/factory reset

Don't really want to do a factory reset because i don't have a back up of my data. I guess no option other than this.

No its not a factory reset of your phone..ie: settings erase ..
This is through recovery on clock mod. All it does is clear the previous data which is probably why you get stuck in boot loop
its not going to erase your phone...

Did all 3. Dodnt work. In the fast boot theres an option of factory reset(Not in the recovery) should i go ahead with that? Or since my phone is unlocked and rooted that might mess things up more?
Last option is to flash again

Ok not uploading.....but once you boot into clock mod....in the options one of those is the data/wipe factory reset something like that in recovery...not fastboot.
If you did that then you will need to flash again....do a nandroid recovery and then try again

I know how to do that and did it correctly but no luck. I guess flashing a new rom is the only way.
Could you point me to where i can get ROMS for the eve 3d? There seem to be a few online so any recommendations?
Just copy a PG86IMG.zip image of TWRP to your sd and install through the bootloader.
Then, never use Clockworkmod recovery again in your lifetime.

I never had a problem with cwm on devices with no other option.... But on devices that had other options the other options have always been the better choice. Could it be that cwm sucking necessitated an alternative or mere coincidence? Likely the latter... But I'll never use cwm if I have another option--cuz all I hear about is trouble.

That is what you're looking for but all it's gonna do is flash a different recovery. From your posts, it seems cwm recovery was still functional. You just need to flash a new rom and forget about your previous data. Always have a nandroid backup of some sort, and this won't happen. I nandroid backup once a week atleast, and more if I start tinkering with the rom. I have also NEVER had any problems with cwm recovery on any of the four android devices i've owned. I don't know why people dislike it so much.

If you still have custom recovery, a zip is great. However, you said sbf, which leads me to think no custom? Go to the development part of MoPho forums if you run into trouble. LokiFish's links still work and you can sbf to stock. Which... stinks. I tried to rembrace the stock vibe and rerooted. Good luck.
I recently attempted to root my HTC thunderbolt, and to do so I used the htc dev unlocker and then this "HTC Thunderbolt Tool'
rootzwiki.com/topic/27310-all-in-one-the-htc-thunderbolt-tool
After that I downloaded a rom and installed it through the 4ext recovery, it all install fine and I did do a factory/data reset but whenever I reboot after the rom install, I get the HTC white bootloader and then the screen become black with a back light to it.
I have tried a number of times to re-install the rom and have tried to use other roms but all of them seem to end the same way.
I have used:
BAMF FOREVER 1.1
BAMF MECHA ICS
AIRBORNE GOUI
Killsense 3.7.19
Lightning501
few more
My phone is a HTC Thunderbolt and when I attempted to root the phone it had a hboot version of 1.0.8 and had a stock version of ICS installed.
Sadly I have a phone without a working rom and I had forgot to make a backup so if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Preferably I would like to keep the phone rooted but its not necessary.
Thank You
I'm a total xda-developor noob, so I hope I didn't mis a thread with a the solution all ready on it.
Make sure you do the factory reset, wipe dalvik and cache. Flash the ROM and reboot. Sounds like your missing a step somewhere 8)

I have tried clearing everything but still doesn't seem to work.
One thing I forgot to mention is sometimes if I wait long enough on the blank screen It boots me back into the 4ext recovery, don't know if that makes much of a difference.
The way I have been installing the rom
Load ROM onto the SD
Do a "wipe data/factory reset"
Go into install sd and choose the Rom which is in a .zip file
I think this is how its supposed to be done, but not sure.

Problem is you were coming from the ICS OTA.
The All In One Tool alone will not get you rooted after taking the OTA.
In order to fully root and s-off after having the OTA loaded, you would need to follow the steps outlined HERE

You can use whatever Recovery you want, Clockwork Mod is old and not really suggested to use, especially with newer roms.

I had to encrypt my device for work email and now I can't go back. I've tried everything I could find through Google so I don't need the CIGTFY links. I've tried RUU through windows, flashing stock recoveries through Fastboot, factory reset through the OS, recovery and 'fastboot erase userdata.' All of these have yielded the same result: reboot into the same state with the phone still encrypted. Is there anything to be done or is this device stuck in this state?

I believe his should be stock. If it's the same process as my gf's company, you encrypt it right when you get the phone.
I did, fortunately, manage to unlock and root before I set up work email. Now I'm in the situation described above.

Is it preventing you from doing something, like flashing roms or getting S-Off? Just curious in case I can get my grubby hands on my girlfriend's One X+
It's preventing me from flashing any more mods, ota updates or even accessing the memory from any recovery. I've tried everything but trying a hard reset through the stock recovery but I can't find a way to get it back. Everything I try to flash using fastboot returns a successful indicator but nothing ever sticks.

I think I found the answer!!!!
You need to copy everything from the sdcard onto the computer.
Then format data manually. The factory reset wipe won't touch encryption but on the transformer prime when you go to format data it warns you that any encryption will be lost.

So just to clarify: I first plug the device into my computer via USB then through my computer OS choose to format the internal memory? If so, will I then need to reinstall the DNA's OS? Will the computer choose the right format (ext, FAT, etc.)? Can I use RUU after this procedure?

No I'm sorry didn't mean to be as vague. In recovery like in TWRP, there's the option for "factory reset" wipe which I'd the normal rom flashing wipe. But there's also an option in recovery that says "format data", I'm on a different device but when I get home I can list exactly the steps to get to format data instead of factory reset.
The factory reset is there because it allows only wiping part of data to prevent completely wiping the internal storage. The technical working is something like factory reset = wipe data and cache excluding media
That option doesn't truly wipe the data partition and for 99 percent of people they don't ever need to do a true data wipe and format which includes wiping the internal storage completely.
One of the warnings I saw on a different device that TWRP states with the complete "data format" is that this option will completely wipe all internal storage partitions and will delete or undo the devices encryption.
There's no computer involved and hboot and recovery and boot shouldn't be touched only the data partition. I believe that the system partition with the rom stays intact, so it will reboot into the new rom setup screen. But you need to have the Everything from the sdcard copied to a folder on your desktop, and the rom zip file handy in case you do need to transfer it to the phone and reflash.

That did it!!! I should note that I had some issues flashing the TWRP recovery back on (kept getting weird color striped patterns on my screen whenever I would boot into recovery) so I flashed the Clockwork Mod recovery. Fromm there I went to 'mounts and storage' then to 'format /data and /data/media.' I tried just format /data but that didn't work. It worked when I formatted them both. Thank so very much.

I am trying something very similar on my Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH-i777 and so far even formatting the data in CWM hasn't yielded results. I have actually formatted everything including the second ROM. Any ideas you can offer me is appreciated. When I did my encryption I didn't encrypt the whole device just the sections that were being used. Of course my device is totally different but I did find this thread two days ago and thought it was very interesting.

TWRP choose advanced in wipe section and wipe dalvik cache, cache, system and data.
This will not ensure the ROM is installed successfully
