Great device, terrible Rom. Not many options on rooting it. There's gotta be millions of them out there, all with no PLAY STORE.

Doh!
Yeah, it's rooted and has TWRP recovery. GApps gets you Google Play. If you use the above OP method, but only do selection number 2 and install GApps via TWRP later. Option number 1 is buggy and not likely to work. Actually, not all t499's GApps package linked to much later in the thread. Or, check out aijcofs' Nabi Lab.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk HD
Nabi Lab v. 2 is incredibly easy to use. Actually the original way is easy but with like one extra step to do with the newer gapps. Its good to have guys put in work on root and all, but I wish we had a sub-forum and roms and kernel source. I hope Fuhu still updates to JB.

that's really up to you - i went ahead and flashed the leaked official ATT ICS version and it's been working excellent. It does not have the Premium Suite but its got most everything else - and i also sideloaded the S-Note from the premium suite

flash unofficial best there is...hands down!
Have you ever rooted before? Installed an alternate recovery like CWM? Flashed a ROM? Created a nandroid backup? Cleared caches? Formatted system or data? Used ADB? Used Titanium backup? Run non-stock launchers? Modified system files such as build.prop?
If not, search for everything I just listed, and start reading. None of it is really hard to do, but having a basic understanding of each of those moving pieces is going to be key to running a stable custom ROM.
Most custom roms have install instructions in the OP. If the basic steps there confuse you, then please don't rush anything and START READING!
Good luck!

I agree. The Unofficial 2.0b4 is a very stable, capable, and low-maintenance ROM to install and get your feet wet...
I just switched to the unofficial this weekend and have enjoying it quite a bit.

you can only install roms that are built for your specific device. Trying to install roms meant for other phones will likely break (aka "brick" ) your phone. So no, you cannot install the Galaxy Nexus ROMs on your Note
Luckily, our Note currently has several ICS options to pick from.
First, read up on how to install and use Clockworkmod Recovery (aka "CWM" ). Once again, only install the version that is mean for our i717 AT&T Note.
Then, as I said before, I recommend "The Unofficial v2.0 Beta4" as a stable first ICS rom. Go to its thread and start studying...

I was more or less asking if it was possible because I'm new to Samsung and all I see is Odin cwm in the Samsung forums. I'm coming from HTC so my knowledge is back to ubernoob when it cones to root. I know this phone is new, hell big red isn't even out yet so I wasn't like Wtf how come it isn't done yet.
Sent from my vivow using Tapatalk 2
I would wait a bit to install either of the cwm recoveries. Neither one work 100% yet. There are some issues with both.
You may have already seen this but if not, XDA member febcyv has managed to get google now working with ICS.

I have not tried this on my TF300 yet, but if anyone else has I would be eager to find out how you got on.
Good luck and enjoy
Just installed it, and everything wet smoothly. I have no idea what I am expecting now though, it appears to have just replaced the search bar. Nothing different seems to have happened so far.
Edit: I had to install the modified Velvet-theos0o.apk file in order to get it to work properly. Voice search isn't working but that seems to be a common issue.

if you search factual questions it should now bring up "knowledge cards" with your answer rather than a google search.
Also try holding home and dragging up, it may open "google now" which is supposed to act a bit like your PA and learn your routine
I'm also doing a bigger more widespread port of this over in the android development>apps and games section
We have both a flashable .zip and an .apk. It has a strong effort into getting voice to work. If you want check it out. Go ahead!

Is there any versions out for non-rooted devices? Don't feel too good rooting my new device, would lose the quarantee
Unlocking voids warranty, rooting doesn't.
It says that it requires a "A Rooted device running ICS AOSP Rom". I'm rooted but NOT unlocked and therefore NOT running a custom ROM.
This won't work for me. Right?

Im not 100% sure, but I would imagine that the stock ROM is close enough to AOSP for it to work.
I think it probably would work, but you may want to wait for someone else to confirm

I'm the head of one of the Google Now for ICS projects and you can probably install this normally. Just make sure not to delete your original "GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk" file. Just rename it and have it on hand to put back if anything goes wrong.

How do I uninstall the JB ROM completely?
Edit: Whenever I connect my phone to my computer, it won't show up and I can't add anything to my internal SD.
Edit 2: I got it. I appreciate the help anyways.
Should be very similar as how you flashed the rom you currently have. Not to be a smartass but the op also posted instructions on how to flash. You just need to download the rom and the current gapps for jb and flash using twrp or cmw. Great rom too. For me not quite ready for a daily driver but really good.

Just download the ROM and gaaps you want put on your SD card(internal SD is fine) whipe data, cache ect. Use twrp to install. I prefer twrp because you can install everything in one shot. Hope you figure it out.

People shouldn't be flashing anything if they're asking how to uninstall a ROM...
If you have no knowledge then why risk it??
Read read read read read
And idk how much I can emphasize this but READ
This isn't a help hotline or a help website with walk thrus.. there is YouTube for that..
The OP of every ROM or port or hack or mod has detailed instructions on how to flash a ROM and the requirements.
If you can't figure it out by reading and having a some what knowledge of what's going on....stay away from flashing..
That's how we get all the "I bricked my phone help" threads...
Not being a d*ck but all this can be solved by simply reading

Let me first say :glad to be back (3-4 years back had a nokia with symbian that with the help of this forum i did minor modifications to)on the forum and out of the clutches of apple(3-4 days ago traded iphone 4 32gb for LGOG)
Now first question: I've rooted my phone attempting to remove any and all bloatware, however I can't seem to remove it?
Second question: in regards to cases what's the differences between att and sprint LGOG's?
Third question: how do I sent picture messages? Seems like a dumb question but every time I try to do so the message says something like "picture too big ,compressing" now normally that's fine it compresses the picture I send and its good however when I get said message the text I had started to send to whomever is gone and I'm back at the message as if I never started it?
Fourth question: how do I send a multiple contact message?
Finally : since this was a multiple question post, I did search , did read, tried everything I could think of to avoid asking a repeated-a-million-times-question , sorry if I did and sorry if I put in wrong part of forum
Thank you sincerely
LGOG rookie

Nope, you have to pay for it in the app store.
Or you can search and take a look in the other section (like the development section). I could be wrong, I dunno.

install titanium backup ROOT , delete any apps you do not want, really I just deleted most of the at&t stuff or stuff that requires you to purchase other things. one app that is worth its money is root explorer, sounds like you are new to android, one helpful tip to you is when you do buy these things in the play store you will always have it as long as you remember your google account, get a new device bam, still have the apps you purchased.
Yes I'm extremely new to droid as a whole
Let alone rooting and other info
Been trying to avoid posting a millions questions that could be avoided with a couple searches, I'm coming from iphone .
Iphones are insanely simple compared to droid ,however with the right tweaks droid can prevail for sure.

I phones seem simple because they don't have any of the customizations that android does. So, I guess iPhone is simple and not in a good way.
Also, "droid" is more commonly used to refer to the phone model by Motorola. We generally use the term android when speaking of the OS in broader terms. But more commonly we use the specific term for the version of Android or ROM that we're speaking of at the moment, Jelly Bean, AOSP, stock, for example. You'll get the hang of it.

Download the free Freegee App from the play store.
Run the app. Backup EFS. Click unlock Bootloader.
Boot into Fast Boot, then CWM or TWRP (depending what recovery you chose when using Freegee)
Make a backup.
Reboot phone and get an app called Titanium Backup (paid version has more options)
Using Titanium Backup you can uninstall bloatware or freeze them if you have the paid version (this is easiest and safest I believe)
OR you can use Root Explorer or a similar root file manager to manually delete each apk
Be careful what you delete. There is a post here listing what apps can safely be removed without messing up your phone.
Read twice, click once. Good luck

I would also have to say to the new guys...dont get all wound up on installing a new rom, trust me I have upgraded lots of roms from backflip, atrix, htc inspire but all those needed it. I have to say the original rom that comes on these LG's is pretty good, unless it doesnt do what you need it to I wouldnt worry about a new rom. root it so you can delete some of the bloat.
100% agreed. Amazing Rom for stock. I did the same thing and I'm loving it
