Ok so it is possible that this question has already been asked, but I cant find it so im gonna ask it
Does anyone know where i can find a stock ruu and rom for my htc evo 3d.
Im currently running hboot 1.58
I have tried to run many types of ruu but with no luck at all.
I also have a windows eight pc that for some reason doesnt like htc drivers.
I hope someone will be able to help me out with this question
This post might help with your Windows 8 driver issue. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2061435
The zip in the op of this post has the ruu you need (assuming you're Sprint judging by the hboot number). http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1889438

My Eris has HBOOT 1.49 S-ON. I'm new to this. I can't upgrade untill next year so I've been reading alot of these forums and I would like to root my phone so I can increase the processer speed and to get 2.2 on it. Some people say a phone with this hboot can't be rooted and others say it can be. Everything I've read is a couple of months old. Are there newer post. Is there a simple way to do it if it can be done like maybe a one step or something. I'm a layman at this stuff so if some of you guy's could help I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm not sure which one the 1.49 is but just get the latest Verizon OTA update (the latest 2.1 update should lead you right to it) which was from July then find the one click root method in I think the Amon_RA thread in the development section.
Hi guys.
I am new to the HTC Flyer, and i kind of need some help going from Honeycomb back to Gingerbread.
I owned a few Htc devices but this S-ON, S-OFF thing is new to me.
I read everything i could find on the mater but i still got some questions and i do not want to proceed until i got all my questions sorted.
If anyone is willing to help i am going to ask.
Thank you.
Well mate, I think a good first step would be posting your questions?
Even if I'm not able to help, I'm sure others will jump in.
Ok.
Here i go.
I read a lot these past days so i now a few things but there are things i do not really get.
I have a HTC Flyer 32 Gb 3g version running Honeycomb OTA.Hboot version 1.11.0011
For downgrading from HC to GB i found 2 threads:
1. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1307759 dated 17th October 2011
2. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19607833#post19607833 dated 23rd November 2011
I thought i try using the second since it does not involve HTC unlocking and for what i read warranty voiding.(correct me if i am wrong).
So the first step is downgrading to GB using the proper RUU.
My cidnum is cidnum: HTC__032 so i downloaded
RUU_Flyer_HTC_WWE_X.XX.405.X from the sticky thread with shipped roms.
Next i thought was running the RUU but i got some error :
Error 140:Bootloader version error.
And after this i am still on HC, at least did not brick anything(for now).
Sorry if i asked any stupid question, i am trying to learn about this.
Thank you.
Well, the first guide requires s-off. The second, aparently it was edited 3 hours ago with "Updating with new procedure" so maybe wait till that's done and see how that goes?
No hurry here
if you're S-ON you need the first procedure to downgrade from HC, you cannot downgrade from S-ON HC to GB without running the htc unlock.
So there is no other way, but to use HTC unlock.
Good to know.
Thank you.
Hey all,
I've been looking looking looking, and I cant seem to find a clear answer to what I need. I currently have the EVO 3D, unlock with HBOOT 1.58 SOFF. I would like to use some other roms but they need a lower version of the hboot (1.4). Whats the method for downgrading this? Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks!
Mark

I posted that for someone else here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33952307
Does anyone have the absolutely stock RUU? I'm stuck on HBOOT 2.09 and need to unroot and relock to be able to get my corporate email back on my phone.
Trust me, guys, I've searched to find some links. And as a last resort, I'm posting this here. The sticky with the stock RUUs no longer has our device listed and no one else seems to have a working link.
If anyone can help, it'd be much appreciated since my phone is currently stuck in bootloader.
Thanks.

hello.i have a Sprint htc evo 3d,android version 4.0.3.software version.2.95.651.6710rd.I would like to know whats the best and easiest way to root the evo3d and what is a good rom to run that is very stable and wifi and everything works..and a good kernel to run with it..i have rooted tablets and other phones before, but evo looks a lil complicated..sorry if posted in wrong section, and thank you again for your help..( i tried following these steps..-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1218193) watching the video and going step by step..doing full root part..when i go and open revolutionary.and run it.gives me..(your device.shooter with hboot 1.58.0000 is not supported at this time..can someone please help me..
You can't find the relevant thread and follow directions? I'll even help you out, you'll need a 32bit unix/linux. Ubuntu has a nice bootable you can burn and use. Then you use the jpuntubear executable downloaded from their website within that. Granted the one provided by the relevant thread might work on a 32bit OS but I can verify that it didn't work on Win7 64bit. Oh and you will have to hotwire your phone, literally short circuit your phone to get s-off so you can put a working ROM on. If you just want root and ok with stock OS, then you don't have to short your phone.
Also, if you can't find relevant thread and follow directions how do you expect to survive in the world of custom ROM's?

I have Windows 7 32 bit..
I also have the same issue. A couple of months ago I tried to get s-off and it failed with the same message. After not finding any relevant information I gave up and just rooted my phone with the stock rom. I have had several android phones (Epic, galaxy SII, Evo 4G, lg Optimus V) and never had any problems. Make sure to reply with an answer rather than bashing the person asking the question.
At the moment I just want to root it..and methods that I have been following don't work..
This method works:

It's close to the top of this forum. Read through the thread titles. You'll find all of your questions answered if you bother to look for them.
Swyped from my GS4.
Nevertheless, belongs in Q&A. Mods please move.

As others have mentioned, what is probably the most comprehensive compilation of information you will find on the web can be found on the link below:

Additionally, if you have issues with the "wire trick" to get S-OFF you can always just do the HTC unlock. You won't be able to flash HBoots but you can flash ROMs and Kernels (use fastboot to boot into recovery from PC).
I, for one, can state that I've done the JopunutBear "wire trick" successfully twice on a Windows 8, 64-bit OS. However, if you choose to try to do this know that you will be entirely on your own as they no longer support anything other than Linux.
