Hi, recently I have purchased Xperia U. I try to find out is there any ics update available for my zone or not. So I connect my phone with pc through the provided software with phone and after successful connection it shows ics update waiting for my set. I thought I will try OTA update instead of through pc. I checked my phone setting -> update software and found that my set is already up-to-date I.e GB. I am really confused. This type thing did not happen with me before for my HTC set. Someone pl. Help. Thanks in advance.

Just try updating through the sont software?
If that doesn't work you can always try flashing an FTF file with latest update for Xperia U
Goodluck!
Update from GB to ICS through OTA is not available, you have to update via PC

Bro, this is because the ICS is still not ready for your region.
The only way is to flash ics ftf file via flashtool.

Use condi's aio. Tool and root ur 3.2.1 honeycomb firmware and change ur. Region to usa and u will get the official usa ics firmware
I have done this on my uk tab and running ics. so pretty sure it can be done on urs also
But after upgrading to ics plz dont chnnge the region back to italy it will brick ur device let the region be of usa only
Hope this helps

I have a uk 16gb wifi only sony s
Is it quite straightforward to do?
Or will the uk version b out soon?
I still have no info regarding the uk release of ics
Yeah its kinda starightforward to do but one thing after u do it u cannot change ur region back to uk if u change ur region back to uk it will brick ur device
U need to be in usa region itself until there is some exploit for it in near future
Thanks for the quick reply, I only got it at the weekend so I will play with it for a while and see if ics comes out for uk soon
Don't want to risk a brick just yet though I am keen on getting ICS
Cool device though
Ciao!
ICS isn't been released in europe yet..I updated mine via condi's tool 2.7 flawlessly.. if you simply change your region, you'll lose root for the moment. I suggest to update soon because ICS is much way better!
Sony Italy doesn't know that ICS for Tablet S was released. You can use condi's AiO tool, but read all the instruction in the post. Not avaible for now for 3G model, only wifi

Hi, I have an Italian Generic Xperia S. On Sony Mobile's blog they clearly stated one of the three methods you can update your S to ICS is OTA through the Update centre. In fact when I first got my S I was able to update to .73 OTA. Now just yesterday I got the notification to update to ICS on my Xperia S and to my utter dismay it said I have to do it through PC Companion. Why can't I do it OTA when Sony said I can?
The update will be directly accessible in your phone over mobile networks and WiFi, but also with the option of upgrading using a computer – either with our web-based Xperia Update, PC Companion or Bridge for Mac.

Its to large and flash would be incomplete in OTA.

Then install flashtool.
What about through the website, can you upgrade using that Java powered online updater?

You should be able to do that if you have the drivers.
Judging by this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1916419
Many people are trying to flash ST25a firmware just to get the ICS update.
However if you are in Europe and have the ST25i model you can get the official update via PC companion. It doesnt tell you via OTA but when you connect the phone to pc companion you will be notified of the available update.
Hope this saves quite a few people from flashing the wrong firmware as many were having issues with it.

Hi,
I own and Xperia P LT22i. For some reason, my device didn't notify me about the JB update however it seems that everyone got it. I tried system repair and checking the software update from computer and mobile multiple time. How to get the official JB without installing a custom rom?
U don't need to install any custom roms
Just flash the ftf (original Firmware) by flashtool

Hi,
Me too facing the same issue. My PC companion is up-to-date, which says you've latest Android but still have ICS.
Is there any possibility to find out which (region) my Xperia P phone belongs to ? (I purchased via online)
Is Flashing JB is allowed ? (Will Sony support after flashing JB ?)
FYI: My SI 1262-0496 (UK after googling)
Thanks,

I solved my problem and upgraded to the official JB using PC companion. You can get your device upgraded by following these steps:
- Root your device using the Flashtool (you will find it here in the forum)
- Using the root explorer in the ES file, change the file /system/build.prop file as mentioned here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2249238
- Restart and check updates. You will get a notification that JB update is available for your device.
Best,
Hi... I just bought a brand new Mini Pro, and it came with 2.3 GB Android. I went to software update and it updated to 4.0.2.A.0.62 - but it's still 2.3.4. GingerBread! I tried with PC Companion, it says I have the latest software... how do I get stock ICS?
Thank you in advance
Try Sony Update service
If that doesn't work either, use flashtool and flash the stock ics rom

Thanks for the quick reply. Sony Update service just informed me that I have the latest software, just like OTA and PC Companion. I then tried with flashtool and 4.1.B.0.431 firmware, which worked after a couple of tries It seems that new phones are not recognized for automatic update to ICS, so it has to be done manually.

Yeah, no problem with that... but I noticed something very strange when I removed the battery... my brand new sk17i, bought in june 2013. has 11W37 manufacturing week label! So, either those numbers are not what they seem to be (year W week), or the importer got some cheap, old, recalled, forgotten-in-the-warehouse, first batch units. I checked the manufacturing date because the famous chirping and static clicking sounds are there, I thought that problem was solved with the new units (I used to have mini pro some time last year). Now I know...
