Hello,
I've installed some MODs in my LL9 BTU ROM. Now, i want to update to the lateste LLA firmware via KIES. Is it possible? Would KIES revert to 'stock' without any problem, if it allows me to upgrade?
What's the best way to upgrade?
Thanks a lot.
Kies will only update it to latest firmware if its available in your country.
For me (and many others), the best way of upgrading is to download the rom with latest firmware from here
It will not cause any big harm.
The update is available for me. The question is: can i update with MODs installed or do i need to do something to "revert" it? Will KIES automatically revert, just like it does with Root?
All your mods will be removed during update and dont even try to restore mods from backup (becuase of firmware changes).
You can though, restore apps and contacts etc. but not mods.
Sorry but you will have to mod it all over again if you update (whether by kies or by roms on this forum).
Ah, no problem! All i wanted to know is if it was possible to upgrade with the MODs installed. I'll try to update via KIES now and then reflash the MODs. Thank you! >

Hi all, I successfully unrooted using this guide here:http://galaxytabhacks.com/galaxy-tab-10-1-hacks/how-to-unroot-your-galaxy-tab-10-1/
But my problem is that his "stock" file that I flashed is an I/O Stock rom, so it won't receive any official updates after the first 11mb update. (won't update to 3.2 Touchwiz)
I would like to give this tablet to a family member and I want them t receive official updates (Like ICS) in the future, so I basically need to get my Tablet back to the point where it can receive official updates.
I did a little more digging trying to find a stock rom and found this rom "hc-3.1_ota-full_sam_tab_10.1.zip(StockROM)", from this link --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1171089 but it appears to be the same file for I/O as before.
I then found this link here, to a European Stock Touchwiz update rom, "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1167250" But I'm afraid since its european, it is still not my original stock rom I had for my Tablet I bought in the USA.
Can anyone help?
i have the same problem... but i'm from Malaysia..
although from one of the guide, it says Asian Stock TW, after odin, my device doesnt seem to be recognised by KIES for any official update... also notice that the build number is different from actual Asian version (compared this with my friend's tab)
btw, from samfirmware, the zip file contain 3 files (data, csc and bootloader)..
i only flash the data and csc(as suggested in the guide)... do i need to flash the bootloader too? could that be the reason why i cant get KIES update?
btw, if your from the US, hav u tried the guide from "filesfordummies"?
i think thats the stock US version of the tab...
Do you have a nandroid backup? if you have restore that backup and you have an actually.
Sorry but my english is very bad

Hi,
I just read that Samsung is releasing a bunch of official ICS roms (http://www.samsung.com/us/support/SupportOwnersFAQPopup.do?faq_id=FAQ00046726&fm_seq=49755#) and I´m wondering if any of these could be installed on a I9100XXK14 (3.0.15-i9100XXLPB-CL99600 - Illusion-ICS v1.0.1) and how do I get a hold of them.
thanks in advance
If u have KIES installed on your computer u should be able to see if your phone can be updated to ICS.
I have no idea if samsung has finished it's worldwide release of ICS ifso an update will be there for u.
I have a custom ROM. I don´t think I can update via KIES since it doesn´t recognize the custom ROMS. Is there anyway I can do this without going back to the official Gingerbread rom?

Via the Stock rom or branded roms posts .
Via the ICS roms posted in general .

Last time I updated via KIES I did´nt do anything else as plug the phone in and update via KIES. BUT afther the update I lost my root, but no problem to root it again.
Thankyou mlhdk for helping
I already figured it out what todo as following:
I rooted my device again with newer version of CF-Root v6.3 as it supports Stock Firmware Updating (OTA) and rooted once more after successfully updating my device stock firmware.
Thanks to Chainfire (Life Saver)

Quick question, do you need to reinstall all the apps (root only apps) again after updating & reroot?
Maybe you cam help with this issue:
Phone was rooted and I downloaded the firmware via OTA (I didn't know!). I re-rooted it with CF-Root 6.3, which went fine.
Now If I check for software update it says "no update available." The build though is still the old I9300XXALE8 instead of ALF6.
Is the updated firmware file saved somewhere, and if yes can I install it via CWM?
What else can I do?
Thanks
Jay
Hi, and apologies as this is probably the 10,000th post on JB updates. I have searched etc, but just wanted a sanity check to see if I have this right.
As the title says, I have a UK GT-I9300 (BTU) that was rooted in my eagerness when I dumped ios (so used to Jailbreaking, I didnt even think about it). I'll admit I didnt think things through at the time (or read up enough!)
So, I rooted the phone using Odin and CF-Root-SGS3-v6.0, and now JB is upon us. I now know that I can't just use Kies or OTA (unless Ive got it wrong), so I just need to use Odin to flash a download (from one of the various Firmware sites) of the JB update for my particular version ?
If I want it to appear as unmodified, I need to use Triangle Away ?
Have I got this correct, or am I missing a piece of the jigsaw, or do I need a pre-rooted JB ?
Cheers for any help, as I'd rather not stuff this up
If I need to flash the stock rom via odin first, I'll have to find it, as all the links I found are dead now :fingers-crossed:
Hi I have the latest omega rom on my phone but when I try to software update on my phone it says that latest updates are installed even though I know theres a new updates.
If I try to update via kies it says my phone is not compatible to update (or something along those lines)
Can anyone tell me how to get the latest update thanks
You need to stick with stock ROMs if you want OTA updates and via kies, you should also understand all the drawbacks, risks and benefits of customs ROMs before you flash them.
Omega, like all other custom ROMs will break OTA firmware updates and kies. Go to the Omega thread, download the latest version and follow the chef's instuctions to flash it.
