Hi guys, i want to make a custom rom base on stock/cyanogenmod.
But i am undecided because:
If is true that roms based on cyanogemod 7 uses more battery, i want to make a rom based on a stock firmware with the CF-Root kernel.
So the only app i know to create a rom is the xda-AndroidKitchen.
But i need a guide o a tip to start. Someone can help me?
Thanks. I realy need help please.
Last attempt with a stock firmware have failed because boot.img was too big.
(boot.img can't be more than 5mb right?)
Boot.img < 4MB
Herpderp Adreno + Tegra.
Ok Thanks.
Now i need a guide or some tips.
And an answer about the battery question.

try to use the themythics or themythks2 as base has cf root
SGSII styled rom
for galaxy ace
made by Robinandroid
battery problem would persist as far as you use CM as base rom..
and if you are not making kernel from yourself then you wont have problem with it anyway
So only if i modify the kernel the battery can last less. right?
So What do you recommend me??

well don't touch kernel parts as you are using cf-root for kernel
stuffs you can do-->
clean useless stuffs
apply some existing tweaks
make your own tweaks if you can make
theme it by your own as most market themes are used by most users
include some apps [not warez]
and some more thingsssss you can think of

Ah, all right thanks. But i can't understand you, sorry i don't know very well english language. I do not have to modify the kernel if I want more battery. But i can use the cf root kernel??
Ah and please help my with android kitchen.
I want to create a cust rom but with the speed of the cyanogenmod. Because stock roms are slow.
Plese help my, i realy need help!!
Anyway the boot.img of a firmware smasung is 8MB!!!!!! So why CWM can install only boot.img < 4MB???
Please I have tryed again, error status 7. Boot img too big. But i use the boot.img of the samsung firmware!!! What boot.img i have to use. That's very stupid....
-.- Please answer to me!!!... I can create it only today because tomorrow i'll be in mountain.
i think the previos poster wanted to say that you have to write the boot.img simply and clean... so that you dont need the 8mb
if you want more batterylife just delete the unused commands in the kernel and/or undervolt the cpu... i dont know it the ace like undervolting but it is a good option to save batteryjuice

about kitchen you can try it..
you can't change battery consumption of cm7 [if it was possible would have been implemented so far]
why ?? don't know
at the end you don't need to modify boot.img of ketut as you are using them directly..
if you are making kernel by yourself then only you need to care about packaging boot.img
If you're making a custom stock , use CF-ROOT's boot.img .
If you're making CM7 , use CM7's boot.img .
Herpderp Adreno + Tegra.
Oh thanks Now i'll use android kitchen with cf-root.
Now i need some tips.
I want to use 2.3.5. I have the firmware and i can open it with 7-zip.
What files i need to extract and use? Only system.rfs?
now i know i know what the Rom are (like software update and actual software for the phone) not very long i dont that either but confuse that what is MOD is also Kernels are .say use that kernel with that rom means what.?

i think what he means is "what is the difference between a mod and a kernel" or "is combining a custom rom and kernel equals a mod"
well if thats what you asking then mods are usually themes or enhancements to the UI or the general user experience
a kernel is the link between hardware and software.
like we flash custom rom so we also flash mod or just install it like an app

I am using Xperia Mini Pro SK17i rooted and bootloader unlocked working with stock kernel & stock ROM ICS .587... I have read some topics and threads but I am still a noob and I want to know some specific answers for the below questions if you can help me guys and I am sure that it is not only me who needs to know these answers..
1- What are the system apps on Xperia Mini Pro SK17i ICS .587 which can be safely uninstalled without affecting negatively on the device? "Please don't provide me with Arc S apps as they are not the same"
2- Can I install CWM through X-Parts app after I unlocked my bootloader or not? If it can't be so how can I install CWM on my unlocked bootloader device?
3- After installing CWM, I want to take a backup from my current ROM on my SD card.. Will the backup be for the ROM only or the ROM and the kernel? And how much space will I need on the SD for this backup or it depends on what?
4- If the backup will be for the ROM only so how can I take a backup for the stock kernel or how can I get it?
5- After I will take the backup through CWM, I want to install a custom kernel to be working on the stock ROM in order to make overclocking for my CPU but I don't have a PC to do it through flashtool, so Can I do it through CWM? If yes so please tell me how?
6- I will very much appreciate your support to suggest me some kernels can work with my stock ROM and supports overclocking and increase total RAM if it is possible as I searched about kernels but I found that most of them support CM9 & CM10 & Some other custom ROMs.. I am looking for some kernels like the stock kernel to be working on the stock ROM and provide me with all device features but can support overclocking and increase RAM if it is possible as the stock kernel doesn't support this. "I am not asking about best kernel, I just want to know which kernels can support the overclocking and increase RAM and at the same time working on the stock ROM"
7- I have 2 partitions on my SD card 16 GBs (KingStone Class 2) "EXT2 & FAT32".. How can I add swap file "RAM" to the EXT2 partition? And will it affect on my SD card negatively or make its life time shorter or not? And what about zRAM on EXT2 partition, is it available or no? If yes so please tell me how to do it.
8- Anyone found any market enabler app for Play store after it is updated to version 4.0.27? If yes so please provide me with the app name or link and I will very much appreciate it.
9- If I am a hard gamer so should I activate Force GPU Rendering & Don't keep activities from "Settings > Developer Options" or not? What they really do? Or if you have any suggestions for gamers on SK17i please tell me about it and I will test any then feed you back.
10- If I want to make a guide for the newbies "Noobs" to share them my experience and to make it easy for them, shall I post it in general or development? And should I refer back to someone before I post the guide "Keeping in mind that I will mention the people who helped me out with their posts or threads and I will add their links"? If yes so please tell me who?
I am so sorry for all these questions but I believe in you guys and I will very much appreciate your usual support.

1. I use arc s one and disregard the apps not present. Don't know if it is available for us
2. Yes u can use xparts but after unlocking its easier to just f'ash a custom kernel as they have recovery
3.only rom, we can't flash kernel via cwm yet. Size depends on rom. Stock is the highest.
4. Don't know about taking backup of kernel but u can get the stock kernel ftf file. Besides what's there to backup in a kernel?ie what's the diff btw new kernel and backed up one?
5 flashing on the go is not supported yet
6. Don't know. Try urself
7,8 don't know
9. Try asking in the gaming thread in general.
10. In general. Never in development. Dev is only for ORIGINAL roms, kernels etc. Don't think u need to ask anyone, if anyone helps, just add credit.

1. Here are all the system apps present in .587 which you can remove :- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2048279
2. Don't install CWM from x-parts. It doesn't work properly sometimes! Use this :- http://theunlockr.com/2012/06/07/how-to-install-clockworkmod-recovery-on-xperia-mini-and-mini-pro/
3. The backup is always for the ROM. You cannot backup the kernel. The size varies on the ROM it can go from 600MB to 5GB. So you better have a 16GB memory card for backups and some of your games/music!
4. As stated, there is no backup for stock kernel! You can flash the ftf of the kernel.
5. Not possible!
6. Most of the kernels support overclocking upto 2GHz. But now devs are making maximum overclocking possible upto 1.6GHz as higher the overclocking, higher risk of device being bricked and s***! Also, all android versions have different kernels. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2148684
7. No idea. Sorry
8. No. There is no market enabler for play store version 4.0.27.
9. If you're a gamer and play HD games on your device, i'll recommend to flash stock GB as it is by far the smoothest ROM in terms of Gaming! Also, you can try CM9/CM10/CM10.1 but they need overclock! And about GPU rendering :- http://pocketnow.com/2012/05/25/what-is-force-gpu-rendering-in-ice-cream-sandwich

It will work with ICS. I installed CWM with the same thing on stock .587. Just be sure that you get root and check once on flashtool! :good:

Hi guys,
sorry for cross-posting (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-neo/help/xperia-pro-issue-mount-sd-ext-t2826503) but
my phone is becoming unstable because of very low free space/memory available
and did not receive answers.
Thank you very much!
Hi eXperts,
last month I flashed the great Ultimate HD rom, so stable and now my wonderful Xperia pro is much faster
Before to do that anyway I used Mount2SD app to get my external sd mounted and solve, in this way,
common issue about "memory unavailable" and similars when I tried to add or update an app.
Now , Mount2SD is no more working, with no log entries, even if detailed debug verbose is enabled; first
I was thinking there is issue with Init.d support... But it sounds strange because before UHD I used the original stock rom by sony,
rooted of course, and furthermore I checked with a tool (embedded inside universal Init.d) and it shows me that Init.d support
is green and working....
So, looking beyond, my question is how to definitively solve this issue, changing kernel or something else
and give my phone support to mounting external sd native. Which kernel may I flash ? Working together with UHD?
Fast?
My phone is mk16i and must keep physical keyboard working, cwm, rooted.
Will this operation break my current configuration in terms of installed apps and so on?
My Xperia pro is unlocked bootloader.
Thank you very much in advance!!

1. Try flashing stock GB/ICS
2. Try using a different sd card
That's basically all you can do. If you're doing everything right (flashing and wiping accordingly) and it still doesn't work, it's definitely a hardware problem. Then you'll need to pin point what is causing the problem. As I recall you said that your sd card works properly? Can you can copy/move stuff from and to it, view all the media you have on it without problems?

Hi Grof,
flashing stock GB/ICS does not help. I use stock kernel since the beginning... and no stock kernel
is able to mount sd-ext file system in order to use sd as a natural extension of internal memory.
As I wrote in the beginning I already reached out result I want, using Mount2Sd with stock kernel but now
I want to solve with a new full featured and modded kernel that embeds useful functionality just like CWM and
of course internal memory extension using sd-ext filesystem..
That's the point.
My sd card is perfect, nothing to complain and working like a charm! I "only" need the first part.
Regards
If I get what you are saying, you just want someone to recommend you a custom kernel that has sd-ext support? Have you tried the latest LX CM11 ROM and kernel? Almost all custom kernels support ext4, it's just a matter of preference.
Sorry if I missed your point, hope I haven't misunderstood you.

Great! That's the point :good:
Now, I did not try LX CM11 ROM because I did not know which was the best ROM and Kernel for my mk16i and so
reading different threads I decided to install Ultimate HD ROM.
That's a good ROM but I did not know which kernel associate because it was not indicated in its dedicated thread
and furthermore, mk16i is a really specific smartphone with physical keyboard so I did not want to loose some important feature.
I will try to look at LX CM11 ROM but are you able to suggest a good kernel for my current ROM ?
I am honest, if possible I would not want to install all apps from the beginning... but if the reward is sensible, well I will do!
Thanks

Asking for and suggesting best kernel/ROM is not allowed on xda.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1969555
You'll just have to test them out yourself. You should check UHD ROM thread to see which kernels are compatible with that ROM. All CM ROMs have kernels inside the zip (boot.img). Hope you'll find what you are looking for!

Hi, I know the rules.
I am asking if you can help me understand which ROM is ready for UHD cause, of course, I already read the post and found
different suggestions but regarding other models. That's the point, because Xperia Pro is a particular phone with physical keyboard for e.g.
and also looking at different kernels inside its dedicated thread I was not able to understand which kernel is already developed
and patched on ICS and there is features matrix.
Finally I need to know if, installing selected kernel, I will loose something or not
I am not interested and I am not asking "which is the best rom for my phone ?"
Bye
Well..
There's some roms for gts5282 and maybe u guys already tried those out.
Amongst them, one of the most lightweight rom is FAKE_SLIMKAT.
This rom is already $mooth enough to use.But if u guys want ur phone more smooth, just do as I say.
First dload the rom from here..
MAIN THREAD : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-star/development/update-custom-rom-4-2-2-fakeslimkat-t2955068
Start ur job...
Flash this rom via cwm 6.0.3 or twrp 2.6.3
Latest Cwm for gts5282 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal.../recovery-cwm-6-0-5-1-samsung-galaxy-t3235242
After flashing that rom flash this kernel before reboot.
ZD KERNEL V5 :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ernel-codename-croco-kernel-19-march-t3058404
Now reboot ur phone.
Setup everything.
Then go to root explorer and go to system/app.
Delete holo launcher hd and holo notifier.
Replace it with ur launcher(whatever u like).
But i recommend u to replace with SecLauncher2 by argha.
Dload launcher from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-star/themes-apps/mod-t3134511
Now after replacing launcher, delete bloats that u dont want on ur phone.
I deleted gapps(xcept phonesky nd google login service) coz i dont need them.
Now go to recovery and flash this pure performance hd.
Dload pphd : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2295010
Flash this and reboot ur phone.
Now use greenify to freeze apps and save battery/ram.
Credit : To all those guys who dedicating their times to make our phone a little better.
NB : AFTER DOING THIS,MY GTS5282 NEVER USED MORE THAN 220MB RAM,THOUGH I INSTALLED 14 APP WITH 4 BIG GAME ON MY PHONE.
SO,WHY DONT U GIVE IT A TRY...
I dont think remove some gapps from system may smooth ur phone. Couse if you deleted some of the gapps. Some apps will start fc. I dont think thats a good idea.

Hmm, from where should I start... First of all, that kernel combined with that rom is the worst combination ever. Everyone knows that the kernel is made for stock rom and works best with it, not to mention that the overclocking is totally not working even if it somehow worked it doesn't explain why you have low used ram because the overclocking is only effects CPU. Back to the point where you mentioned the low used ram as something "good" while indeed it's not. Ram is where program get stored so the more your ram is full the faster your phone will run. So I'm sorry but this thread is fake af.

I don't want to argue with u here.
I will open a new thread to make things clear.
UNWANTED CACHED SERVICES MAKES PHONE SLOWER AND CLEARING RAM FREES THEM.

Well..
There's some roms for gts5282 and maybe u guys already tried those out.
Amongst them, one of the most lightweight rom is FAKE_SLIMKAT.
This rom is already $mooth enough to use.But if u guys want ur phone more smooth, just do as I say.
First dload the rom from here..
MAIN THREAD : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-star/development/update-custom-rom-4-2-2-fakeslimkat-t2955068
Start ur job...
Flash this rom via cwm 6.0.3 or twrp 2.6.3
Latest Cwm for gts5282 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal.../recovery-cwm-6-0-5-1-samsung-galaxy-t3235242
After flashing that rom flash this kernel before reboot.
ZD KERNEL V5 :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ernel-codename-croco-kernel-19-march-t3058404
Now reboot ur phone.
Setup everything.
Then go to root explorer and go to system/app.
Delete holo launcher hd and holo notifier.
Replace it with ur launcher(whatever u like).
But i recommend u to replace with SecLauncher2 by argha.
Dload launcher from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-star/themes-apps/mod-t3134511
Now after replacing launcher, delete bloats that u dont want on ur phone.
I deleted gapps(xcept phonesky nd google login service) coz i dont need them.
Now go to recovery and flash this pure performance hd.
Dload pphd : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2295010
Flash this and reboot ur phone.
Now use greenify to freeze apps and save battery/ram.
Credit : To all those guys who dedicating their times to make our phone a little better.
NB : AFTER DOING THIS,MY GTS5282 NEVER USED MORE THAN 220MB RAM,THOUGH I INSTALLED 14 APP WITH 4 BIG GAME ON MY PHONE.
SO,WHY DONT U GIVE IT A TRY...
