Make sure you select flashmode and not fastboot in flashtool, and if the drivers don't work, install Sony Update Service or PC Companion. They come with the proper SE drivers for your phone. What OS are you on?
Windows 7 enterprise x64.
I want to unlock bootloader, so i selected "Bootloader unlock" from "Plugins".
I have installed Sony PC Companion.

Hi, I think I may have bricked or softbricked my xperia mini (excuse my noob)
when installing froyobread I forgot to do the factory reset (and back up) and went straight to rebooting however ever since then I've had this problem:
www youtube com/watch?v=jPQIS19ndRY (sorry not allowed to post links yet and not sure what this is called, bootloop?)
For some reason pressing the back button repeated doesn't get me to xrecovery, (the first time I did it I went thru flash tool which I can no longer do because I cant turn my phone on and therefore I can't enable debugging)
This also prevents me from connecting to PCC
What I tried:
tutorial step 6 ...but its been hours and so far that doesnt not seem to be working either. This is what comes up when I tried

You don't need USB Debugging to use Flashtool. Turn your phone off (take off battery if you have to), plug the USB cable in your PC, then press and hold volume down button and plug the microUSB into the phone. You'll be in flashmode.
If you can't use flashtool anyway, repair with PC Companion.
and it was that simple…
thank you so much! Now time for attempt #2
Hi guys!
I tried to put a new rom on my wife phone.

I don`t know the version of the installed Clockwork recovery.

The only what I see is the Sony Ericsson logo...

I think I just cant figure out what button (buttons) do I need to press or hold during boot-time.

1st of all, to enter CWM is by pressing volume down or power button when the screen getting brighter, depend on what kernel u r using.
CWM can be installed in unlocked or locked bootloader (in custom kernel has already CWM built in so no need to install it)
in the flashtool log we can see that
- usb debugging not selected
- u r flashing the wrong ftf (r u sure ur device is x10?) coz u r trying to relock ur bootloader with x10 ftf (ur bootloader unlocked?)
- flashtool cancel flashing to prevent bricking
so make sure u have the ftf file exactly for ur device if u want to flash stock firmware via flashtool
Hi!
I have a Xperia X10 Mini Pro (U20) with Stock Firmware (after recovery with "UpdateService" from SE).
I have installed CWM successfully with "CWMInstaller - Windows - v5".
When I try to install "MiniCM7-2.2.1-mimmi" (or 2.2.2) it says that I need a nAA-Kernel but successfully installs CM7.
When I do a reboot CWM says that "recovery is bad and has to be renewed". After that all I get is the white "Sony Ericsson" lettering (again with the option to start CWM when pressing the back button several times).
So I tried to follow this "Bootloader and kernel guide" and unlock my bootloader first using Flashtool. But when the phone restarts it "hangs" on the white "Sony Ericsson" lettering. When I try again, Flashtool tells me that it is not possible to unlock this bootloader.
My phone is produced 10W42 - could it really be that the ancient stock firmware is the only one which works?
All I want is a more modern and fast (lightweight) android version to use my old phone furthermore.
Thanks in advance for your advice and help!

When you install CWM it is installed in the system part of the ROM. When you installed MiniCM7 it got wiped out, because MiniCM7 is for the nAa-kernel, and in that kernel CWM is built in. Which means it doesn't need to be in the MiniCM7 ROM. That's why you lost it.
And ofcourse it 'hangs' on the white SE lettering, because the ROM you installed does not work with the Sony Ericsson kernel.
You say you unlocked the bootloader, so why don't you flash the nAa-kernel?
Prepare flashtool to flash it, then attach the usb-cable and press home- and back-buttons together to force a restart. If the bootloader unlock was successful the flash will get through and after that, you'll have CWM back and you will continue to boot into the ROM too.
And be very careful not to flash the x10blrelock.ftf by accident, it will definitely break your phone. Best is to remove that from the flashtool/firmwares folder before you proceed.

Thanks for your answer, SmG67.
The problem is, that I have _tried_ to unlock the bootloader, but it did not finish. The "s1tool" still shows a capital R in the version ("RUNNING S1_EROM VER 'R8A029'") which means "not unlocked".
I also tried to install the kernel "U20_2.6.32.61-nAa-06.ftf" but this does not work as the bootloader is locked.
So can you give me a tip, how I could move on?

The problem is, that I have _tried_ to unlock the bootloader, but it did not finish. The "s1tool" still shows a capital R in the version ("RUNNING S1_EROM VER 'R8A029'") which means "not unlocked".
I also tried to install the kernel "U20_2.6.32.61-nAa-06.ftf" but this does not work as the bootloader is locked.
So can you give me a tip, how I could move on?

You should not have proceeded to install the ROM in the first place if you didnt unlock it. Open SONY Update Service in PC, click repair and follow what they say. When you connect your phone to PC for repair, follow what SmG67 told you

I am unsettled now, so I want to make sure to do the right things:
I have "repaired" the phone using UpdateService and made the first setup - phone is now running and USB debugging is switched on.
Then I started flashtool and clicked on the flash-button (U20_2.6.32.61-nAa-06.ftf); followed the instructions but it quits working after phone restart with the following output:
Code:

Root the phone again with flashtool and then unlock the bootloader using flashtool. After that, you should be able to flash the kernel.

Thanks to your reply, I was able to root the device with flashtool. Afterwards I successfully started Superuser and switched off the phone again.
While unlocking the bootloader (button BLU) with flashtool afterwards it gave me the following output:

There are no errors this time, but again nothing more happens: phone is loading and showing orange LED.
I am surprised of the log line saying that "Bootloader status is UNROOTABLE"?
btw: S1info still gives me a uppercase "R" for "not unlocked".
Can I proceed flashing the U20_2.6.32.61-nAa-06.ftf?

That will fail since your bootloader is still locked. Not sure why flashtool failed to unlock it, but maybe you can try the manual method, as linked to in the opening post of the kernel.

You mean to unlock bootloader with "msm7227_semc.cmd" as stated in the "Bootloader and kernel guide" (from above)?
Because this always leads to:
Code:
process requires standard 2.x android firmware.
Drücken Sie eine beliebige Taste . . .
Getting ROOT rights.
* daemon not running. starting it now *
* daemon started successfully *
and the phones LED flashing red sometimes
Thats not the first device I am using custom firmware with, but this phone resists all my attempts.
Finally I managed to run CM7 on my phone following this german instruction.
My mistake was that during the flash process the phone has to be switched on normally and not to be connected in flashmode (pressing back button while plugging USB in).
Thanks for your suggestions and hints!
Hello deer XDA Devs and Members...
Bought a Sony Xperia P from a Friend for a few Bucks...
Warranty is way off, so i wanted to install another ROM on it, which worked perfectly...
Had Phantom Kernel 1.1.0 B Power Saver Edition + JB MoonBreaker 3.5 ROM installed.
Then, dont ask me why, me and a friend wanted to install another ROM and so, went to bootloader and... well... formatted everything >,<
that would not have been the problem, if we hadn't also formatted the SD Card, where the ROMs were on...
Well, however, i read though several Posts, Threads, Forums, whatever i found and tried almost anything, but it didnt work...
My Data:
On Phone:
Phantom Kernel 1.1.0 B flashed through Fastboot
System:
Win 7 x64 Ultimate on Laptop
with Android SDK,
Flashtool 0.9.10.2beta6 Bin4ry
and all drivers v1.0.2 installed from Flashtool...
What i'm actually trying to do is to connect the Phone to Android SDK to use the ADB Push Command to get my ROM back on the Phone, BUT...
no matter what i do, Device is not recognized from ADB/System when in Bootloader.
I can set it to Fastboot mode and its recognized in Fastboot
can set it to flash mode and its recognized in Flashtool..
but neither ADB nor the System itself will recognize the Phone when booted to CWM (from Phantom Kernel... 6.0.2.8)
However, i also tried to flash it via Fastboot and latest 6.2.A.1.100 ROM/FW/Kernel...
Does not work, what ever i do
Flashtool the same...
I can set to Flashmode, choose the 6.2.A.1.100.ftf File and start, but it will only prepare files and then stuck... and then, the phone reboots to not existent system... so... not working either
My last option would be to get my Phone back to ADB for Push... but how, if W dont even recognize it when i connect it?
Hope you understand what i meant
And hope you can help me somehow...
I cant get further and am out of ideas >;<
thank you very much!
-dia
Hmm, did you unlock your bootloader before all this? Check this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2635830 , here you can find the latest drivers to use with Flashtool.
Have you tried to flash another kernel? Like the Nemesis? Reinstall drivers and try flash another kernel...
/TSB
sorry, forgot to write..
yes, my phone is ulocked and yes, i can flash any kernel i want and as far as the kernel has CWM onboard i can boot it to CWM recovery..., but thats fairly all, cuz no matter which kernel i have on, it wont be recognized in system/adb >,<
and as i wrote, its not a driver problem... i have all drivers and they worked before system went lost... but as the phone is not detectable anymore, i cant do anything..
device-manager doesnt show anything when i connect the Phone in Bootloader-Mode / CWM recovery
In Fastboot, its detected as S1 Fastbood and i can use Fastboot to flash kernel, but not system
In Flashmode its detected as S1 Flash Download and i can use Flashtool... but as i wrote, flashtool doesnt work somehow
You said you updated with EMMA, have you flashed the ftf with flashtool before?
Post flashtool log.
Also, you may try to extract system.sin from the ftf (it's a zip file) and flash with fastboot
Code:
fastboot flash system system.sin
I haven't tried it myself but it may work
nope, i didnt use EMMA... it tells me it cant update software cuz alteres software was found.. same as sony update service and pc companion
i used flashtool with both, the packed ftf file, where my phone just stuck and disconnected/rebooted without finishing the process or even starting the flash,
and with the extracted sin file, where the same happens...
with fastboot and system.sin, it tells me, the size would be too big to transfer and stops the process again..
this is for the 6.2.A.1.100 ROM/Kernel..
I can flash anything but the system itself
older roms lead to the same error >,<
and altered roms dont have sin archives which i could flash with fastboot...
so i still would need ADB access to my Phone to be able to push any ROM on it..
or a Stock ROM older and smaller than 6.2.A.1.100 i can flash with fastboot... but which i didnt find..
Try ICS .75
You might want to test flashing from an XP machine, my W7 and W8 PCs wouldn't keep connection when trying to flash, Flashtool would just drop connection everytime. Used an XP PC from work and presto all was good.
It's worth the try if you have access to Win XP.
Try install drivers from flashtool again. Then just open flashtool try to connect in fastboot and see ehats appear in the window.
Sent from my MT27i using xda app-developers app
Hell yeah!
Under Windows XP, it was running fine
Phone back on 6.1.1.B.75 Firmware now!
Gonna install next ROM now but this time with saved backup and not formatting anything anymore
Thank you very much!
