Hello everyone,
I just reinstall CM7.2 with wipe of the entire cache, and I can not connect to my wifi network (WPA2-PSK) that is configured with a key as 123456789. My PS3 is connected to the network and everything works. I tried with another phone Samsung Wave II type and again, that works. I tried with my Legend on another network with the same security and I could connect.
Back on my network, I try the connection again, and still nothing ... I changed the security to WEP, my phone could connect.
Could someone explain to me why I can not connect to my wifi WPA/WPA2-PSK?
Edit : I try to switch wifi network to WPA-PSK, it seems to work fine, but why not with WPA2 :s
I found this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1605047 !
I'll try it
With this fix, wifi can't be activated :/
Any idea please ?
Thx

I can't seem to connect to Wi-Fi with a 802.1x security but the all the other securities work fine.
In the stock S.E firmware, it all works normally (2.1-update1 baseband 54)
Is anyone else having this problem?
Edit: My university uses PEAP/MSCHAPV2

Wi-fi Ace from Market can help you with this
Follow this --> http://myxperiax10.blogspot.com/2010/09/wifi-enterprise-connection.html
Wifi ACE doesn't help me. Possibly because the network does not broadcast the SSID - it has to be manually typed in.
I've had trouble connecting to it for a long time - If I remember correctly, 2.1 global would connect, but since I've upgraded no luck.
EDIT:
update - I figured out how to do it. Go to standard Wifi settings add the Enterprise's SSID -> as "Open" security (if you try secured, it will fail and then won't save). Now go to Wifi ACE as described above and elseware and tinker with settings... poof, it works - well you have to exit ACE...
I'm on the latest nAa kernel, using MiniCM7-2.1.9, but wifi just doesn't work. I can browse the internet using my 3G connection, just not wifi for some reason.
Wifi shows it's connected, the signal bars is full but it just doesn't download any data, it's like it's not connected at all. It's able to get an IP address and the link speed is good but it just doesn't get any data.....
I've tried searching through different posts and tried solutions such as:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21766413&postcount=498
as well as the instruction to fix wifi in the Troubleshooting page here:
http://code.google.com/p/minicm/wiki/Troubleshooting
and this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22170822&postcount=817
I also cleaned the dalvik cache by going into recovery, reboot and still doesn't work.
and they all don't work....
UPDATE:
OK nvm it works now. I reflashed the kernel, wipe data & factory reset and then reflash the rom, and now it works. It's the exact same thing I did for the past 30 mins, except this time I also reflashed the kernel. I just hope it'll continue working.....
UPDATE 2:
Ok, now it's not working again. I rebooted the phone twice, and it was able to connect to wifi no problem. But then later on it stopped working again, I didn't install or change anything either.
I also noticed that whenever I'm connected to wifi on my phone, the wifi on my PC will timeout and drop connection. If I then try to connect wifi on my PC, then the wifi on my phone will timeout. Basically, I can't connect both at the same time.
But all my other devices work fine. My Motorola Milestone and my mom's HTC Desire Z works fine. My iPod Touch works fine, I've NEVER had a wifi issue with any of my devices until I tested out my new Xperia X10 Mini Pro today.......
I haven't tried testing it on stock rom & kernel, because the first thing I did was to unlock the bootloader and flash the nAa kernel + MiniCM7-2.1.9. And I can't be bothered flashing back to stock since I won't be staying on stock anyway, especially after setting up everything already so I can't really be bothered.....
Anyway, so I then tried to delete wpa_supplicant.conf in data/misc/wifi (as mentioned above) and this time it shows "Error" under Wi-Fi settings.
This is really annoying me....
One note about wpa_supplicant.conf (/data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf). In stock kernel with MiniCM Pro from paul-xxx the right ctrl_interface was wlan0.
nAa kernel (with MiniCM from nAa) needs tiwlan0.
So it isn't necessery to delete file with all wifi networks when changing kernel/ROM but one value in config file.
ya, except the value was tiwlan0 already, I tried changing it back to wlan0 and nothing happens. So then I tried deleting it, and now whenever I try to turn Wifi on it just shows Error.
What's actually strange about this is that I've backed up the original file, and when I restored it and tried to turn Wifi on, it turns on but doesn't display any network.
Before, it would display tons of networks, and it would connect to my router (but doesn't download data for some reason). It doesn't work but at least you can tell it's able to detect networks.
Now, it doesn't even show any networks. The only way to fix this is to restore from recovery or do a wipe......
Ok so I did some research and could this be the case?

I've also tried to assign static IP but it still doesn't work. I went into my router and checked the ARP, and it shows this:
IP address Flags MAC Address Device
192.168.1.2 Complete 00:18E:48:42:C9 br0
192.168.1.3 Complete 00:E0:4C:A3:8B:A8 br0
192.168.1.6 Incomplete 18:87:96:FE:16:3E br0
192.168.1.5 Complete 48:5D:60:3B:5E:5D br0

where 192.168.1.6 is assigned to my phone. I'm not that good with router stuff but know the basics, does anyone know what I need to configure?
I'm having the same problem with my mini pro

I haven't had time to try this out yet, but maybe you wanna give it a try? Scroll to "PROBLEMS WITH WIFI?" in this topic here:

Hi,
after changing some router settings (like the number of the channel) my SGS2 on 4.0.3 ICS doesn't connect anymore. WiFi itself is working fine, except the AP of the router i changed. Deleting all AP information and reentering all WPA2 data will change nothing.
I'm stuck. Can somebody help? In my eyes the phone is not forgetting AP data completely when you try to delete an AP entry.
Thanks Christian
Damn it. Now it is working. After restarting a couple of times.
@admin: please delete this post. Sorry for any inconveniences.

open wifi settings and select the wifi. then press connect. if you have changed the password for wifi then try pressing forget and the again press on connect. if this did not work the see below
did you flash any rom or made changes to your phone? if yes then try flashing the stock firmware and try again.
Reset the phone to factory setting but do the backup if that doesn't work check your modem setting.
router problem?

so my wifi network is saved but it does not connect to my device...i have an archidroid 2.3.6 custom rom....i tried restarting the router, restarting the phone...i even tried re installing the rom and there was no change...any help please ??
thanks
check router
remove security from router and test .
restore nandroid and test
Return phone to stock and test
I've seen this a lot in Sony phones, but very rare in the S3. What worked for me was to change the router's transmission from "a/b/g" to "g only".
You can try this and report back.

changing router to g has defo work for me in the past
Pls check if this works
