Hi, I have a sony xperia mini pro in 2011 with the 2.3 version, I have a problem with the data connection. When I try to connect to the wi-fi in my router my provider charges extra making me waste money. The settings in mobile networks I turned off the data connection and the notification bar tells me 'Connection disabled date'. I've also try to turn it on without sim and use only and always the wi-fi, access to everything but not to play store that says to enable background data connection or something like that, then I went to the settings and turn the play store was opened without any problems. I put the sim and again because of the traffic data I wasted money.

I don't understand your problem. You don't want to use mobile internet? Turn it off, delete APNs, don't use it.

Hi,
i don't know if this is the correct board but I am searching for something like a WiFi Manager.
My Problem: Usually, I am using only my home network via Wifi and if I am on the road, i am using my mobile data plan. At my university there are some rooms, where i cant receive any mobile data connection. The only possibility to connect to the internet is via WPA2 WiFi but if I enter the settings for this network it also connects to this network any time I am in range of it (so when i am traveling through the city, it allways switches on an off and I dont get a stable connection.
Entering and deleting the university wifi anytime is a bit ugly so I am searching for a possibility, how I could enter my university-WLAN-Information but enable this network only, when I need it.
Thanks in advance,
Cmoe
try market from your phone or market.android.com and search for wifi manager ... it is app I use, but there is lot more apps ...
While on wifi, do I need to turn off Data in order to save battery? I *think* the phone will use the wifi if its available anyway instead of cellular Data but will actually turning off Data while wifi is enabled and connected save battery?
The data is automatically turned off while wi-fi is connected unless you have some rogue app that insists to use cell data connection.

Note, this is only if "wifi sleep policy" is "never".
Otherwise, it'll go to the cell connection when the screen is off.
The only app I know of right now that can force cell data traffic while wifi is connected is the Market when it does its initial compatibility checks. (Downloads still go over wifi.)
My Xperia Mini Pro, either because of the phone itself or my provider, keeps dropping off on EDGE connectivity. I mean it goes off, comes back on but after that my gmail, gtalk, browser and a few other apps wouldn't connect to the net. Though a connection reset solves this problem, it comes up within a minute or 2.
I was wondering if there is an app that can automatically check for connection state every x hrs/mins and if there is no connection, then automatically restart the data connections. Would appreciate any help in this regard.
Thanks in Advance!
I rooted my phone yesterday using MyGKernel and installed droidwall.I allowed all apps to use wifi and disallowed all of them from using 3G but android background services still use data.I got background data and autosync disabled. Also I noticed that after rooting my phone, the screen turns on by itself in random times.I'm running Android 2.3.6,please help !
go to settings - wireless and networks/mobile networks/ use packet data, data roaming. both off, to disable data via cell provider.
i dont know about the screen issue, some app waking you unit up?, you dont need droidwall if you disable packet data.

But I need the packet data to be on for a vodafone app called vodafone buzz. Its an app that lets me connect to fb/twitter/msn/yahoo/gtalk for 1 dollar a month and I don't get charged for internet data. But the problem is the android services use data for no reason even with droidwall enabled.Oh and I fixed the screen thing,it was a problem with an app.

yes its a fact of Android you have data on so they connect .
try Better Battery Stats to see if you can pin down further .

I have tried different Wi-Fi connections but it sill once in a while tells me that specific app can't work on Wi-Fi, only with mobile data. The issue with that is that I don't have good signal reception at home. Would appreciate any suggestions to solve the issue. I have tried several solutions found online such as: uninstalling and installing back again with a backup, deleting cache and data, resetting Network settings. I have never had an issue like this before with anyother phone.
You can keep the Wi-fi connection at the center of the house which will cover eventually every place, or keep it closer to your room so it won't get disconnected! As for the apps, you can go to the app settings and change the network usage from mobile data to wi-fi. Which apps are not connecting to Wi-fi?

It only happens with the WhatsApp app. I think I found a workaround. This problem may happen if you have multiple access points in your house. Even though is not a proper solution (the issue never happened with my old phone), you just have to turn off and on Wi-Fi and dismiss the notification. WhatsApp will probably work fine after that.
