Anyone know of a way to get the regular ICS settings menu? I'm not really too fond of the tabbed menu that LG uses.

You can enter the (menu, oops) settings screen, hit your menu button and you can switch to regular list view.

I don't think he knows how to do that, because the menus "disappeared"
To the original poster - please try to touch and hold the screen on the left or right edge and a blue 'thumb menu' should pop up. From there you can do the same you can from regular menu bar and IMO it's much more handy.
Thx for the help guys. I cleared all data and cache and have sorted it. I will try the long press tip as I liked the full screen but not the inability to use tabs and input addresses.
Really appreciate your advice.
Thx again.

I've been using the SuperNexus ROM for the i9300, however one of the things I miss from CM10 is the ability to reassign the buttons of the device (the Home, Menu and Back buttons).
Is there a tweak that exists which will allow me to do this? I want the Menu button to open the Multitasking screen, and the Home and Back to remain where they are.
Cheers

Very new to Android, so is there anything anybody knows about that I can flash onto the phone that could add this feature other than changing ROM's or using software keys?

This can be acheived by using something such as Jkay deluxe framework.
I think you'd need to buy the deluxe settings app off the market too. Well worth it in my opinion.
I am considering getting a HTC One but one of my reservations is that I use Apex launcher and am wondering about the two softkey layout of the phone. with there being no menu button, is there that annoying menu bar always on the bottom when using 3rd party launchers? If not, how can you access that menu on this phone?

I think you mean the three dot settings button, right? Yah, it will display a bar at the bottom of the screen with the buttons. However, you can install a custom rom that will remove the bar and allow you to long press the back button to open that menu.
Bummer. Are there any other launchers that dont have the menu bar at the bottom, without rooting? Its not that I am afraid of rooting, but I dont want to mess with my phone's basic functionality right out of the box.

Use XPOSED MOD it has a module to remove 3-dot menu.

I am using the Apex launcher, and there is no black "three dots" at the bottom. It works fine.
On the other hand, I tried the Go Launcher EX, and that one I had to uninstall because it did have the black bar.
EDIT: Not rooted.
Awesome! How do you access the menu then from the home screen using this phone?

You can long press on any empty space and the menu will come up. Or, it can be accessed from the app drawer, top right. Three dots there.

Is there anyway to map the menu button to one of the capacitive keys so I can get rid of this dumb menu pop up at the bottom of the screen? There has to be a way

Did you even try to search? There are currently two different options and both are easily found if you put in minimal effort.
4.2 would be nicer and ability to remap menu key... But my most used app with menu bar doesn't have it anymore!

Yes, this is great. I think you have to enlist in their beta tester program to get the update. Also worth noting that the FB Messenger app still has the 3-dot menu bar.
As mxrider108 said you do need to sign up for their program then manually push the update to your phone for 3.5 but it is well worth it. App settings now rest under the left swipe side of the app near the bottom.
