Unlocked stock rom`s brings you the newest version usualy a lot faster than provider rom`s and you`ll have no Vodafone bloatware.

Well the choice us completely up to you.
If you like/want the vodaphone apps then flash voda firmare.
But if your not really bothered either way then tgen unbranded.

[Q] Unlock or not ?

Hello,
I am thinking about flashing Intratech´s latest Frankenstein Rom(XILA2) but my S2 is locked to Vodafone. Should I unlock before I flash or is it ok to flash a non Vodafone Rom even with the phone locked?
Thank´s
The carrier has nothing to do with whether the rom will work or not. Its more important whether the rom is made for your phone. However, if for example you live in one country and flash a rom from another, there could be some complications.

So in your opinion it doesn’t matter if the phone is locked or not, what matters is if the Rom includes your country. Right?
I want to flash Intratech´s Frankenstein Rom "PDA: XILA2| Modem/phone: XXKL1| CSC: XEUKH2", what should I pay attention to?
Thanks for the quick reply

I installed the app and have the unlock code, my only problem is if the phone needs to go in for warranty reasons

[QUOTE=Mad_Rick;2150911, what matters is if the Rom includes your country. Right?
No any rom on any i9100 International will work .You may need to change CSC for local networks . likewise modem and language versions may not be relevant to you .
But it is easier to pick a firmware that has been issued for your area .
I want to flash Intratech´s Frankenstein Rom "PDA: XILA2| Modem/phone: XXKL1| CSC: XEUKH2", what should I pay attention to?
Following the instructions in the thread is all .
Warranty = flash stock rom or your branded network rom reset custom rom counter if above zero .

I´m sorry guys I´m a complete noob to android and I am getting a little confused
What I’m understanding from your explanations is that I can leave my phone locked to Vodafone Portugal and flash any generic/unbranded rom because the lock state has no influence over what rom I flash. And when flashing a rom I must choose the right CSC for my country witch in my case should be "TPH..."(Portugal). Is that right?
If I flash Intratech´s Frankenstein Rom (PDA: XILA2| Modem/phone: XXKL1| CSC: XEUKH2) which doesn’t have a TPH... CSC can I flash a multiCSC package like OXXKE2 that includes TPH?
Thank you for your patience !!
Yes to all.
Unlock phone is to allow non carrier Sim cards to work.
Rooting allows the flashing of custom ROM, kernels, themes, mods, certain apps (root SU permission) etc.
Just flash back the required csc, you will loose you data, so backup to PC first.

I have no idea, and never heard of it. You would think possible though. I think the only way someone would know us if they actually put in a different carrier SIM.

[Q] S3 three branded, can I flash stock unbranded?

Hello XDA former go'ers,
I would appreciate a few nods or shakes of the head before I consider proceeding with this...
I have a Galaxy S3 network locked to Three. (with their giant 3 logo appearing when I turn it on being a give away).
Can I just flash the BTU unlocked UK firmware to it via the ODIN software?
I assume you do not need to get the phone network unlocked first. (can do that later)
If anyone has links to the best stock firmware file available right now and the most up to date ODIN that would be appreciated too
Thanks

Hi mate,
Yes you can flash the network branding free rom via odin (very easy to do)
You also don't need to be unlocked to do so... But keep in mind that flashing a non 3 rom wont unlock the phone and you will still have to do so to use on other networks.
If you need any further help with it then drop me a PM and I'll help you all the way.
Thank you, the firmware flashing went without a problem.

[Q] Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi guys, just a generic question. What does it mean when the phone is unlocked? I got an unlocked Galaxy S III I9300 and I'm using it on US T-Mobile. Curiously, the phone came with a lot of German T-Mobile bloatware. Are all I9300 not the same? Is it possible to make it completely carrier free? Please enlighten me
It means its not locked to a network .
Branded means its branded by a carrier/network.provider .
Flashing stock rom will remove the branding .

Thanks for the info. Is there a way to update to the stock rom officially through kies or something? And I'm just wondering, are there any carriers in Europe that use stock rom?
Thanks

If you do it through KIES, it will keep all the branding, because it will update the ROM for the same CSC (operator-specific firmware) you have.
You need to first install, using Odin or MobileODIN, an unbranded firmware. All countries have branded and unbranded firmwares.
For instance, an UK unbranded ROM can be downloaded like this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28367295#post28367295
There are unbranded ROMs for all European countries. Use CheckFus to figure out what their CSC code is.
Thanks. So after i flash an unbranded firmware i can get the unbranded rom updates? And it won't wipe my phone right. Does samsung sell the I9300 with unbranded firmware and rom anywhere in Europe? Personally got mine on Amazon.

- It won't wipe your phone, UNLESS you tell it to.
- There aren't that many OTA updates anyway, so don't worry about it. Besides, when an update is released, you can install it on your phone using the Odin or MobileOdin methods long before it is available on the OTA. None of these require you to wipe your phone.
to use Odin you don't need root, but you do if you want to use mobileOdin.
I've flashed over 20 stock unbranded ROMs on my S III and I never did a data wipe on it, and yet it works flawlessly.
Using the top-right panel of CheckFus, you can download ANY CSC you want as long as it is for the GT-I9300. You don't have to keep it locked to a specific CSC. For Germany I believe the unbranded CSC is coded DBT (or something like that).
Hey, thanks for the info. The website for Checkfus Downloader isn't working. Do you have a link to it or can you post it here? From what I've read, CHANGING the CSC will wipe the phone right. Is there any reason for me to change the CSC to UK or something? I don't really care if the default language is German as long as I can change it to English. I just want to get rid of the bloatware and get an unbranded firmware/rom.
EDIT: Found the firmware on SamMobile. Thanks for the DBT tip.
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=8&view=6505
I just want to confirm flashing that won't wipe my phone? Because the CSC is different isn't it?
EDIT 2: Read your post again. So flashing the firmware won't actually change the CSC right. I just won't be able to keep the unbranded rom if I update via KIES?

-Ok, so. Basically I can flash any unbranded firmware I want (UK, German, etc...) regardless of the CSC.
-I just have to use Odin everytime I want to update.
-Also, will I lose the unlock?
-Will there be issues with the modem/baseband/CSC incompatibility or something.
P.S. I keep asking if Odin will wipe my phone because I used to own a Galaxy S 1, and Odin was basically the last resort to flash your phone back to stock, and it was always a wipe.
Thank you.
I have a galaxy s 3 which was given to me as a gift. It was on orange, but was unlocked for me so that I can use it on o2.
I have no idea how it was unlocked, but im unsure about upgrading the software through kies.
Can I still upgrade my software through kies to the latest jellybean? Because ive been waiting for the upgrade on my phone and it still hasnt come up. infact i dont have the option to check for updates either
what shall i do? I dont know if ill lose my data or block my phone by upgrading to jellybean via kies
help please
Your phone maybe unlocked but have the same carrier firmware. You need to flash via Odin a unbranded firmware, as if you do update by kies it may lock your phone again.

Installing BTU stock ROM

I guys.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge (G925F) that was originally locked to Vodafone UK. I have unlocked the phone (a few months ago) by using the IMEI. At the moment the phone is rooted (still using the original ROM) and my CSC is still VOD. Just the information that when I rooted the phone I've tripped Knox.
Now I would like to install a BTU stock ROM. Can I simply download it and flash it or will I have any trouble doing so?
Thank you very much guys.
