Hi, I have both 16 gig internal memory and 16 external sd on my I9100 (Jellybam 4.0.0. rom, great!).
In Windows Explorer, I see only 11,5 internal memory. It sais 9,5 used and 2 free. When I select all folders/files, explorer only calculates 6.0 gb.
So I miss 3,5 gb on my internal SD and 4,5 in total. I assume the 4,5 is for ROM install etc.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

As a owner of Nexus S without SD card, when I want to move an app to the external memory, I just click move to SD and it works fine. But in Galaxy S2 and other phones, there are 3 memories, internal, external and SD.
If I have 2 GB internal, 16 GB external, and without SD, and I try to move the app to SD, it says not enough memory, cause probably it tries to move it to the SD card which I don't have. So my question is how do I move apps to the 16 GB external memory ? and is it possible without root ?
Some people said it installing directly to the external, so I checked and it's not, I installed an app and saw the internal 2 GB decreasing, and the 16 GB stayed the same.
If I understood you correctly. S2 has 16 GB total storage, of this 16, 2 is used for app installation, 11.5 is for storage, and rest is system. You can only install apps in the 2GB portion, or in external SD (if app supports it). You cannot install app in the 11.5GB storage portion.

Tbh i wouldnt worry about it i have approx 150 apps installed and ive only used 650mb! I believe big game files install to the internal sd automajically anyway.
I see, thanks for your time !
Hi.
Sorry if this is the wrong forum.
I had a 2 gig sd card and put an 8 gig into it and formated it using the android OS and it says I have 7.4 gigs but all of my external PC device managers like ******** say I only have 1.7 gigs and it won't let me put more then 1.7 gigs onto it.
It's a Samsung Galaxy W and on the phone under sd card it says I have 7.4 gigs and in windows explorer it says I have 7.4 gigs. but the phone says I only have 1.7 gigs of usb storage, and when I upload mp3's it uses up that 1.7 gigs
What gives?
Thanks in advance.
Sounds like a fake card... try reformatting via your pc. Fake cards display the whole advertised space, but can only use the real space.
Perhaps you are looking at the internal sdcard with you PC?
When I connect my phone to my PC I get 2 removable drives.
The first one is the internal SD. Which according to your phone specs would indeed be 1.7GB.
The second one is the external SD, i.e. the one you can remove and replace.
The ultimate test would be to remove the SD card and see if the storage is still there.
Basically my phone has partitioned ? My internal 16 gig as a 2 gig folder that it considers the internal and a 10+ gig "external" that it uses in liu of the 32 gig micro ssd card.
How can I combine my 2 gig + 10 gig (or whatever the formatted free capacity is after ROM) as the internal and use my 32 gig external micro ssd as my external_sd ?
I deleted the ROM in TWRP and this seems to have began my troubles (though I have had similar issues in other roms in the past.
You have 16gb total storage on the device without a separate sdcard.
2gb internal storage= space for apps
Misc. Amount for system files, kernel etc.
The rest is user storage space partitioned to the /sdcard directory.
When you insert a micro sdcard its folder path is /sdcard/external_sd/
So it looks like a folder within your built in internal "sdcard"
If you are seeing a different partition layout, I would flash back to full stock.

The thing is es file explorer is not seeing the files on the sd. The 10 gig internal memory is showing as the externalsd directory This happens about all jb roms. Novena is showing as u described.. why only 2 gig for apps seems lije before i uswd the entire 16
Nope, that 2 gig app partition has been in place since the galaxy s1, it's the way Samsung's partition table is.
On jelly bean Roms, see if you have either a "sdcard 0" folder in the sdcard directory
Or an "Emmc" folder in the root directory.
Hey everyone,
I have a HTC Desire 310 which has 4 GB internal storage (not separated in Internal and USB, it's only one storage) and from those 4 GB, only 2 GB are usable. Those 2 GB are almost full (800 MB left) and because of that I can't install any big games, like Dungeon Hunter 4 or others that have like 1-2 GB extra data. I have a 16 GB Micro SD and the phone is rooted. Is there any way to install games on External Micro SD or to download the extra data of the applications directly to the Micro SD? Applications like Folder Mount won't work, because I don't have enough space on the internal memory to first install them and then to move the data. I need something that will directly download the data on the Micro SD.
Thanks in advance.
I have a spare cheap ZTE phone that only has 8GB internal memory.
So I added a 16GB external SD card and formatted that as Internal Storage. Now on the android phone, I was finally happy to be able to have all the apps install on the external 16GB microsd card.
In the android storage settings, it also shows up as 24 GB total (8GB phone plus 16GB microSD)
However, when I use ES Explorer or when I connect it to a PC, it only shows me 3.24 GB so I can't copy any music, photos, or large files... it's not letting me access/use that rest of the 24 GB I'm supposed to have available because Android seems to encrypt it (as it was Android formatted it as internal storage, I believe).
Android understands it has 24GB available when installing apps, but it only thinks it has 3.24 GB when trying to copy data files.
What is the deal with that? What should I do? Is there a workaround or fix?
