This is a tutorial explaining how to install and modify Adobe Flash Player
to view Hulu Free content on a compatible Android browser.The modification script was made by user NoSudo, whose official thread can be found here.
Root is required for this to work
KitKat 4.4 users see this post for instructions.
Step 1: Install & Configure BusyBox
• Install JRummy's Busybox Installer app from the PlayStore: link
• Open BusyBox Installer and select version 1.20 (not the latest) & install location: /system/xbin
• Click Install
Step 2: Install Script Manager - SManager
• Install Script Manager (free) from PlayStore: link
Step 3: Install Adobe Flash Player 11.1.115.36
• http://download.macromedia.com/pub/...roid/11.1.115.36/install_flash_player_ics.apk
Step 4: Download & Extract FLASHEX 2.05
• Download Flashex205.zip from the attachment below
• Extract the zip using a file manager app & copy Flashex2 folder to root of sdcard (IMPORTANT)
Step 5: Execute FLASHEX script
• Open ScriptManager app & navigate to Flashex2 folder
• Click the flashex205.sh file
• Select "Su" (skull and crossbones icon) & Run
• (Optional) If you want this script to run automatically at each boot, click the Boot option next to the Su from the previous line.
If all went well you should have a patched Adobe Flash Player!
To view Hulu Free flash content you need a compatible browser (I use Boat Browser) and in settings change the "User Agent" to Desktop.
P.S. Getting it to work is one achievement, but getting it to play fluidly is another. I have noticed that different ROMs, Kernels, and even Browsers have an effect on the smoothness of the video playback. I've also found that on my Nexus 10, the audio and video begins out of sync. I've figured out that changing the quality setting on the video after it has begun to play reloads and resyncs it again. More tweaking and testing may eventually improve this but if you're having any of these issues with playback, you're not alone.

No problem. Yes, unfortunetly the same international restrictions would apply.

Thank you
Working great and smoothly with no sync issue on my htc sensation 4g with Elegancia rom and using proxydroid for us proxy server.

I love Android.

Cannot run script.
I have it stored in the SDcard but when I run the script I get the following message.
/storage/emulated/0/flashex205.sh cannot write to or /.
This message means the scropt can't create any files in teh intended location(s)
try just installing the script in the /mnt/sdcard/Flashex2 and make sure you have read/write permissions in it.
I then changed the directory to /sdcard and reran it and got the same error.
I am running AOKP Buttered 4.2.2 ROM

Just to be sure, do you have the "Flashex2" folder with all its containing files copied to the root of the sdcard before you ran the flashex205.sh script? The flashex205.sh script has to be executed inside the Flashex2 folder...which has to be on the root of your sdcard.
Example: /sdcard/Flashex2/flashex205.sh
• Extract the zip using a file manager app & copy Flashex2 folder to root of sdcard (IMPORTANT)

Ahhh ok so I cannot read very well It installed now thanks. I did not have the folder there just the script. I tried Hulu after I did everything. I am using Boat I set the user agent to desktop and I get the error that Hulu requires Flash player 10.1.53.64 or higher. I have the patched 11.1 installed.

Thanks so much for this! As an added bonus, this mod allows Amazon Instant Video to work. Woo hoo!

Hmm, make sure in boat browser settings under Page Content Settings you have enabled flash plugin.

That fixed it thanks.

ugh....what am I doing wrong?!
I followed the steps and I keep getting Sorry Unfortunately Hulu isn't supported by your device
i'm sure i'm doing something wrong...any idea?

For people that have init.d support I have added a CWM zip that will enable everything for you.
Instead of the working folder being on the SD it is now in data/Flashex2
If you already have flash installed, uninstall it before flashing the zip. Also wipe the dalvik cache and cache partition after flashing the zip.
What it installs:
Flash 11.1.115.36
Busybox 1.20
Flashex 2.05
May take a couple of reboots to set everything up.

problems
I am on Verizon Galaxy Note 3 and follow this step by step and it doesn't work for me. I give SU permission and go to run scripts and it either hangs there or gives me an error each time. I even tried a different app to run scripts and it gives me an error. I have the folder unzipped in the root of my sdcard0. Please help as I can watch flash videos, but still no hulu

"Hulu requires Flash player 10.1.53.64 or higher" Error
I am also getting the Hulu requires Flash player 10.1.53.64 or higher. Script was copied to /mnt/sdcard/Flashex2, directory has r/w, and script executed properly as root and showed no errors. I'm running the latest version of Boat, have Flash set to "Always On", and user agent set to "Desktop". Any ideas?

What version of Android are you guys running? Since KitKat 4.4, Adobe Flash Player doesn't work with the standard apk.

Try flashing the zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46165947&postcount=13 ...Then open up Script Manager and run the flashex205.sh script from sdcard/data/Flashex2

For KitKat 4.4.X Users
-Uninstall previous version of Adobe Flash Player
-Install the attached Adobe Flash Player apk
-Follow all of the steps from the OP (obviously, with the exception of the "Install Flash Player" step since we are using the one from this post).
-Now Adobe Flash content will work but you must use Dolphin Jetpack browser for any flash content (including Hulu)
P.S. You may have to go into Dolphin Jetpack settings and enable Flash before viewing...also change "User Agent" to "Desktop". :good:

New setting: Auto-add shortcuts (automatically adds homescreen shortcuts for new apps, ala Honeycomb)

I can't install/update anything with 3.3.11. Even pushing an installation from Market @ PCs browser FCs the Market app
The automatic updates don't work either, but hasn't for quite a while for me now so I do not put it on this.
EDIT: Prev version doesn't work either now. I already tried fixing permissions, clearing cache/data and switching language to English UK...

I think I have the same problem
Ok so I tried updating from 3.2 and since I couldn't I deleted it with TB and then installed the new version. So now I can't install or update apps and if I try market fc's and the app cannot be found anymore. Market isn't a system app for me anymore so maybe that's the problem?
Now I tried moving the market apk to system with root explorer so let's see if that helps.
Edit: it did help you should try that too!

THANKS (pressed). What I did:
- uninstalled Market with TB
- flashed gapps 28.08 (gave me working Market 3.1.5)
- restored 3.3.11 from TB backup (same problem with FCs)
- converted it to system app with TB (here is your hint working!)
- tested positively.
EDIT: I have only now noticed being far away from known grounds - this being HTC area of XDA

I got it working as I already posted.
You should say in the OP that you need to move it to system\app and set the permissions and reboot.
But if the zip works guess that's easier
Will it work on android 2.3.3 ???

That was an unsigned version.....may be that's why.....
OP updated with signed version.....
Just tried flashing the .zip in both 3.x and 5.x recoveries and I got an error with both.
(screenshots in the attachment)
May be any device specific issue....try root explorer method.....
Worked with root explorer.
And I think they finaly realized that the new market is a bit slow, because every new version seems to be faster and faster.
I just installed the apk and it worked....
Anyway, its nice.

If you want to change to this modified version then boot into CWM wipe data and advanced> dalvik cache, restore this ROM and reboot. Do not perform a hard factory reset if you have CWM or you will fall into a bootloop. Flashable zip is a package created with a different technique (RUU) and can be used for flash not only ROM's but apps, mods and a CWM backup is when you make a backup of your entire system including data, cache, boot, etc images and is just used for ROM's.
Also another pro of a flashable zip is that you get more flexibility with the package, you could modify its content to your taste adding/removing apps, files so from a custom ROM you can make your own custom one.
~ Veronica
Please also add anycut to easy instal an additional keyboard.
With NT Hidden Settings, there's the option of "Accessibility Settings", there you can choose which keyboard to use at "Input Method"
I'm running Swype with no problem
Update 15/2/12
Alright UPLOADING v2, will be a flashable zip now no more CWM backup folder and a standar Apk_Package_Installer.zip with:
* Androzip
* Anycut
* App cache cleaner
* Dolphin Browser
* ES Bookmark Manager (to create shortcuts of your media on desktop)
... These apps are included in the v2 of this ROM.
As i have mentioned in this thread with a flashable zip you get more flexibility.
What does that mean? It means that you can delete apps that you don't want or add others by drag and dropping it/them within /system/app of the .zip
Edit: OP UPDATED!

[Tutorial] Make a Boot Animation from ANY Online Video! [Updated Mar 24]

Updated March 24th, 2013. Process much simpler!
Difficulty: EASY!
Time: Approximately 5 minutes
Tools Req: PC & HP Touchpad
How to make it:
Using Keepvid.com:
1) Rip the mp4 video from any supported video site and save it as "1.mp4". The video must be at least 30 seconds long.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Using my custom Touchpad Bootanimation Builder Script:
2) Extract the script files, and paste your video in the folder with the batch script
Warning! Your antivirus might think the zip is dangerous because of the bat file, I can assure you with my kitten's life that is not!
3) Run the run.bat file.
4) Copy the bootanimation.zip file to your device.
How to Install it:
Install method A:
5A) Download and install ROM Toolbox Lite from the Play Store.
6A) Navigate to Interface>Boot Animations>Local> and choose your bootanimation.zip
If your Rom is AOKP (with Rom Control in settings)... you can select it from Rom Control>General UI>Custom Boot Animation
Install method B:
5B) Copy your new bootanimation.zip from to your SDCard into data/local using your File Manager (Root access required, check your File Manager settings)
Install method C: Thanks to MindSplit and TedSamaha.
5C) Store your new bootanimation.zip inside bootanimation_install.zip (Download Here) at "data/local/bootanimation.zip".
The file must be 'stored' using WinRar or 7zip, as it cannot work if its compressed!
6C) Flash bootanimation_install.zip in your recovery.
Easy as pie!
If you want to use the script to make a custom boot animation for different android device, you simply have to edit the .bat file in notepad and change 512x384 to your device's resolution (or half resolution to save space), and as well in desc.txt
Where to get videos:
A good place to start:
http://vimeo.com/groups
Great tut but the process can be simpler

Yes, I understand you can push the bootanimation.zip through ADB but that requires the SDK. This method is simple, and works.
As for creating the png files, I wouldn't know how it can be done easier.
Thanks for sharing this. Nice & easy just the way I need it.

I have yet to try out the sound capabilities of the boot animation. But from my method, you can simply convert your 30 second mp4 into a separate mp3 file in FreeMake Video Converter, and then follow TedSamaha's guide:
Now if you want Sound in the bootanimation:
1) Download "soundatboot.zip" and Flash it via Recovery
2) Download "bootsnd.sh" and place it in /sdcard
3) Then open terminal emulator and type
Code:
su
cd /sdcard (space after cd)
sh bootsnd.sh
4) Reboot
5) Finally rename "bootsound.mp3" to "android_audio.mp3" and copy it to /system/media

Thanks for the reply..but this is the guide that I followed and it didn't work, unfortunately TedSamaha doesn't follow his thread I guess cause a few other people also have posted about not being able to get the sound in the bootanimation and he has not replied to their questions. Well I may have just to forget all about it...thanks again.

A possible solution could be to push the .mp3 file to /data/local
using adb u can:
adb push android_audio.mp3 /data/local

Thanks TedSamaha, I will try to do that but before I need to go to a hp store to see if they can fix my usb port cause my computer doesn't recognized my touchpad any longer..it is not the computer..it is the port cause it is the same with any computer..and that's why I hadn't done it that way before..but thanks for the tip anyways...:good:
I created a 30 second file. When i split into pngs i geet 721 pngs and then the bootanimation does not at all appear. ?
Just a note to everyone. It is normal if your bootanimation_install file is very big!
I just wrote a super simple script that does all the work for you!
The OP has been updated! Let me know how it works! :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:
Nice work man. Thanks again for sharing.
Error copying
Sir when i tried to copy bootanimation file in sys/media it shows copy failed.
it only copies 40.6 MB.

Updated March 24th, 2013. Process much simpler!
Difficulty: EASY!
Time: Approximately 5 minutes
Tools Req: PC & HP Touchpad
How to make it:
Using Keepvid.com:
1) Rip the mp4 video from any supported video site and save it as "1.mp4". The video must be at least 30 seconds long.

I tested it successfully with 4Ext Recovery Touch (v1.0.0.5 RC5), with latest CWM (recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-passion.img) and with the modified CWM version that Texasice initially released with his first Alpha. Those three are definitely working.

To delete ROM Backup (i've asked the same question to Madmaxx , creator of 4ext )
1)go sd card
2) find clockworkmod folder
3)go in Backup folder
4)All ROMs are in this folder
Thx button if i helped
Came across this and glad I did because this is really nice. Had to play around with being able to get the touchscreen config going for the Dinc but got it going now using these values: 1.85, 43, 1.12, 39
We're thinking of using this for the gapps we link to for Evervolv. The only issue I see is the need for different touchscreen configs for the different devices. If I read the aroma info correctly though, you can read in from a prop file so could get the value of ro.product.device and set the config based on that.
Anyways, thanks for making this great way to install gapps! And btw, no need to have my name in the splash and such...I just bundle up the gapps stuff that works for our Evervolv builds. You and amarullz are the ones to thank for this
Edit: tweeted about it - link

Yea, you've probably read my comment in the aroma-config file. and a bit of research shows that many aroma-users have to struggle with getting a working touchscreen calibration. best way seems to be using the calibration tool a few times and take an average value. Also, i've found a post by amarullz, suggesting, when use the calibration tools, to tap and wait about 1/2 second before you release it.
MongooseHelix said:

You don't have to deal with prop files for this.
The prop files are being generated on the fly by aroma-config. that's because aroma-config and updater-script run in different processes and can't share it's memory resource. also, updater script's functions are mainly limited to the filesystem - except for file_getprop. So the only possible way to communicate is with temporary files. aroma-config saves results from installer ui (via writetmpfile) to a temporary prop file and updater-script can then (via file_getprop) read these files.
But you can use sysprop directly from within aroma-config file. Something like the following should work
Code:
if sysprop("ro.product.device")=="passion" then
calibrate("7.80","28","7.80","28");
endif;
if sysprop("ro.product.device")=="bravo" then
calibrate("8","-20","8","-20");
endif;
So, if you want to create a cross-device-compatible installer you would need to get a list of working calibration data foreach device and then just do like above.
Awesome work brotha! Glad now we can use what GAPPS we want, when installing ROMs without any Gapps...

4ext checks if you have ROM Manager installed. If so, it will place backups in the clockwordmod directory, so they are available to ROM Manager.

Nobody asked you to install a certain package?! Feel free to install whatever package you want. However, if you'd ask me and if you're running an Evervolv (based) ICS build, i'd recommend using MongooseHelix's GApps packages to ensure full compatibility.

Thanks for your feedback. Google Music isn't available in Germany so i did not recognized that issue, when i tested the installer. A couple of questions: 1.) Have you tried to install the "original" GApps package from MongooseHelix? And if so, does Google Music performs the sync then? 2.) Is your Google Account connected at all? If not, have you tried to connect to your Google Account via different App (like Market, Gamil etc) and then try to sync Music?

Thanks for this new option for this box however the .rar doesn't have 3 files inside... only the .img is included...
5. NOW YOU WILL HAVE 3 FILES IN YOUR SD CARD. ONE .INI FILE, ONE .UBOOT FILE AND ONE .IMG FILE.
Have you got Chromecast really working or are you using a Screen Mirroring app? I could never manage to get Chromecast to work natively on my Rom, I could only get screen mirroring apps to work.
edit: correction, I could get a app called AirScreen and BubbleUPnP to work with BiglyBT (Vuze) from my PC, but could never get Netflix or Youtube etc to be able to cast from my phone to the device, only screen mirroring. If I have a bit of spare time later, I'll flash your firmware and give it a test run.

Bah...
Sorry, but I don't think my instructions could be any more clear.
You need to extract the IMG and put it in your SD Card. Download the pre-burned sd card rar file and extract it to sd card. Then you will have 3 files.
I don't think you read them carefully. I haven't left any step out.
Anyway, the flashing can also be done via SD Burn Card Maker tool but I just saved your burning process by giving you pre-burned files in the instructions.
P00r said:
Your instruction are very confusing, you did not update the instruction in regard to the 3 files inside the rar either.
I do not need instruction on how to flash an img but I usually read them to be sure I do not miss something important.
You would be better to remove the instruction that point to non-existing files. Also I believe the SD card need to be 2GB maximum to apply the update when booting

Sure, will upload it as soon as I can.
I tried using the AMLtools like you suggested and made a zip. When I went into recovery to flash it, it stopped and ended with an error 6. It said no digest file found.
You are not alone, same error 6.
