[Q] Awfully Low Volume - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone else experienced issues with low volume on their Tab? I mean I have a pair of self powered speakers plugged in and the volume on them is turned up all the way. Nothing. The sound doesn't even decrease until I get about 4 clicks away from no volume.
I'm running CM on it with an ICS modem. It's a P7500.
Any suggestions?

Check out Voodoo Sound, its in the Play Store. It will allow you to increase the volume for the 3.5 jack.

DSP Manager from the Cyanogen Mod Team.

Turn the volume all the way down, untill the tablet vibrates. You should now be able to turn the volume all the way up having "recalibrated" it.
That worked for me! I'm running CM 10.1 nightlies, p7510

A2DP and Gingerbread volume issue

I was wondering if anyone else had issues with their Bluetooth headset after the gingerbread upgrade? Before, on Froyo, I had independent settings for the volume on my headset and on my phone (by this I mean I could turn up the volume all the way on the phone, but still had the five or so presets on my headset); this would give me about 30 or so different volumes I could be at. Now, with Gingerbread, when I change the volume on the phone, it only changes the volume on my headset, so I'm down to only 5 different loudness settings. Sounds like something menial to complain about, but the lowest volume now is blaring, which makes listening to music at work impossible without disturbing others. Any fix that anyone knows of, or anyway around this? Thanks,
Jacob
Bluetooth on gingerbread is working fine for me.
all volume settings.
You might end up resorting to RE -flashing the system.img file for 2.3.4
it should fix it using fastboot
a easier way would be to use the new fruitcake to restore with CWM they work.
I have the Sony Ericsson HBH-IS800 which does not have volume control on it, so for devices without the bt volume thing, it plays at full blast even at the lowest volume on the phone.
I downloaded the Bluetooth Volume app and it seems to fix a lot of the volume problems, but its still finicky.
I *just* got this headset, so I don't know if this was a problem with 2.2 Froyo.
I us the S9-HD headset, and everything still works fine with all buttons/volume settings on GB.

Atrix Volume Problems

Hi,
I've been having consistent problems with volume, specifically being too low, and especially while connected to a bluetooth headset. I also noticed some odd, and likely related, behavior with the volume in general.
Here's how I see it: Start some music playing. Go to Menu > Settings > Sound > Volume and scrub the Media volume slider back and forth from 100% to 0% and back (and repeat).
On my Atrix, the max sound gets consistently lower each pass until it's silent, even at 100% setting. I think this is part of the issue with the media volume. As I adjust it up and down it loses some peak volume each time. I can bring it back up with a lot of tinkering (mostly through the OS volume controls and in PlayerPro), but I have not found the formula to deal with this in a normal way.
Has anyone else seen this, or can suggest a way to prevent or restore these volume anomalies? Running GB and rooted. Thanks!
I haven't seen this specific issue, but if you think the Atrix has volume problems, go try to use the Infuse without voodoo sound.
Are you saying I should try an Infuse ROM? I'm not sure what you're instructing me to do. Sorry for the extra clarification needed.
No, I'm just saying that your issues could be worse. The Infuse is another phone. Disregard my post if it confuses you.
I use PlayerPro also and have no issues over BT. I start my music playing, turn media volume up full via the volume up button, then control volume level after that with my headset.
I never go into the volume in settings, as it is greyed out for me. I am set on silent and vibrate always as I spend a lot of time in meetings.
My issue is not with PlayerPro or even BT (though it is more noticeable with it), the problem is that the audio gets progressively lower as I raise/lower the volume. PlayerPro does have some volume settings, which is why I mentioned it here.
I found an app called Volume+ that works fine with my rooted Atrix. It boosts the bluetooth audio. I still have the problems I listed above, but this one app may enough to get me over the hump.
I still would like to know what causes the strange volume behavior I'm experiencing above.

ICS: volume output

Anyone notice volume output (ringer, notification, alarm, headphones) on ICS is lower than 2.1, 2.2, or 2.3?
Seems like I have to turn up a couple notch to hear same level as earlier OS.
Any advice for a fix?

I use volume+ from the market. It allows you to separately increase the output volume of the headset, handset speaker and bluetooth output. When in the market if you follow the link to the developer site he is providing the paid version for free. It really helped me as the bluetooth to my car stereo was to low but now it rocks (pun intended).
I had an issue where my handset voice volume was fine, but speaker phone volume was waaaay too high. I've not had any issue with low volume. If nothing else, the volume in ICS is way better than it was in Froyo (from whence I came).
I have the same problem running ICS Passion V12. The volume of the speaker is low even when turned all the way up compared to when I was running Team Whiskey's ROMS. I'll have to try the Volume+ app.
Its a problem with ICS I believe. Supposedly fixed with the lastest 4.04 though.
Maybe ICS issue
Found this posted on Code.Google, so it could be an ICS issue since it's happening on Galaxy Nexus too.

[Q] Low/quiet earpiece in call volume on GB ROMs, fine on ICS?

I've searched and searched, but haven't been able to find a solution.
Some ROM's have very low call volume through the earpiece, and some are fine. The speakerphone volume is okay, so is when using a headset, just the earpiece volume is very very low. AOKP ICS is fine, but for a few reasons I still wan't to run a Gingerbread based ROM, but Unnamed and Unoriginal have very low call volume.
I've tried accessing the service menu, but it won't let me click into the audio menu. As a last resort yesterday I purchased the Volume+ app, but it didn't make any difference.
Any ideas on how to resolve the low earpiece call volume on Gingerbread ROMs?
-Regards,
Steve
I'm running the official ICS release, and still low volume. =(
What did AOKP do to fix it?
when i was using gingerbread, this is what i did:

Awesome thanks! I wonder if I can use the phone libs from AOKP to fix the official ICS release, since this fix is GB only.

[Q] Auto Volume Lowering?

I'm having a weird issue with the volume on this phone. I always keep my volume controls at maximum unless I need to change it later, but with this phone, even though I know the volume is at max, when i start a call, the call volume immediately drops lower and i have to turn it back up mid-call. It also drops the headset volume after unplugging a 3.5mm cable. I'm assuming that's in case you're listening to music with headphones and accidentally pull it out, so you don't end up blasting music in the middle of your office, but i use it in my car and it's an inconvenience to have to turn it back up every time i unplug it.
does anyone know of a fix for this, or did i miss a sound option for this somewhere?

The S3 had the same thing with the headset volume drop. I hate it cause I always keep it on the same volume for my car when I plug it in. I was never able to find a fix for the S3 besides ROMing so hopefully something comes for the note deuce.

Yeah, it is really annoying. Not a bad feature, just let us turn it off if we need to! Ugh.
I found several volume control apps/widgets that feature "volume locking". i'm going to try that, but now problem is the volume controls on the side are also locked and you can only control the volume through the app, also very inconvenient...
Success! I can confirm that VolumeManager can lock individual volume streams from changes based on criteria, including plugging in and unplugging the headset! It's also good for the call volume as I never turn it down anyway, i just keep that stream locked at all times.
