Hello guys,
I think I have a problem with my internal SD-card. Its mounting not reliable.
But at first another question: On every boot my sd card searching for errors. Is that normal? If this is not the case, it wont mount.
Now to my actually problem: Yesterday, I installed the current dori-Kernel. I use it in connection with CM10.1 (nightly from Sunday). Since I installed the Kernel, the internal SD wont check at boot and not mounting then. This still worked with the stock cm10.1 Kernel. After I installed the stock Kernel again, it worked properly again.
What´s the problem? And where can I find a logfile with such events?
Greetings
tiga05
New cognition: After removing the externel SD, the internal was recognized correct. After installing it again, the internal Card is away, again -.- .
I have pretty much the same issue:
with the regular cm10.1 kernel phone boots up and mounts the internal and external sd. After flashing dorimanx .43 internal sd doesn't mount IF the screen turns off while background processes are starting (lets say during the first 30 seconds after the launcher shows up the first time).
So I think it might be related to the CPU (sleep) settings. Will play a little bit with the settings.
AW: Internal SD-card not mounting
Please answer, if you have a solution.

it is not a solution but a workaround for this is not to use the lockscreen that comes with cm10.1
I use widget locker instead, as it starts later than the regular lockscreen the screen times out later (after internal sd card ist mounted). Not a real solution but better than nothing.
Hello,
Your fix didnt help for me.
Also the new kernel (7.45) didnt solve the problem.

Dorimanx said there is a solution to force mounting the internal sd and he will post the instruction soon.
I found 2 options / solutions:
1.) (not so good): remove your external sdcard --> no problems with mounting the internal storage
2.) (better): backup your data in your external sdcard, bott into recovery >> mount and storage >> format external sdcard, reboot and try to force the error --> int. & ext. should mount as expected, copy your data back to your external sdcard, reboot and try to force the error again --> int. & ext. should mount as expected
For me, second method totally fixed that silly problem.

Option 2 worked for me. I never thought of re-formatting the external card to solve this issue. Thanks much.

Hi there... just recently upgraded from stock 2.1 to stock 2.2 ROM. Everything is working great, fast and snappy and such. But after 2 days, i suddenly noticed that images under the Gallery 3D app are 5 times repeated(?). However, when I check the files using file explorer, there is just one copy for each image... This happens on all the images I have on my external SD card. All files I have on my internal SD card show up just fine. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
try move them to external sd card then move them back to its original folder...mine works..

thanks for the reply... tried it but it's still the same. i still have 5 copies each for a single image... even a reboot and gallery cache wipe did not help
I had the same problem after flashing a ROM.
Solution: with root explorer (or adb ) delete
- /dbdata/databases/com.android.providers.media/externalXXX.db
- /sdcard/Android/data/com.cooliris.media
reboot

Worked!!! Thank you very much... you literally saved me from doing a soft reset
Had this problem also, but only for pictures stored in the external SD card that I added. I did an experiment and moved them to the phones internal sd card and it eliminated the problem. Weird, anyone know why this happens??

I have been having this same problem and verified that this works. There was 1 folder still duplicating but after a reboot it was normal.
Thanks for this

I have a (successfully) rooted Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 without external SD card and I wanted to install a custom ROM (tried both MIUI and CyanogenMod). I used the ROM manager app, via "Download ROM" and after the download has finished it prompted a menu and I selected 'Backup Exisiting ROM' and 'Wipe Dalvik Cache' and proceeded.
It booted the device into recovery mode and tried to mount SD card even though I don't have one. Then the installation failed, because the SD card mounting failed.
I also noticed that when I browse my files, the home directory is /sdcard, and all the files are there. I cannot navigate to the root folder (aka '/'). This is very odd considering I don't have an SD card.
How do I solve this issue?
Please help me.
/sdcard is your internal storage and to access root folder you need root explorer

What about my other question? Can you help me? Why doesn't it mount?
It failed to mount your internal storage or external SD card which you don't have? Also ROM Manager have compatibility issues with SGS2 so I would avoid using it.

I see that I can't get you to answer helpfully, so I'll put it more clearly:
1. Why does it try to mount an SD card?
2. Can I tell it to install the ROM from the internal storage? If I do, then how?
3. Must I have an SD card to install ROMs?
4. If I do, is there a way to install ROMs without an SD card?
Thanks.
Ok, let's go back to start. What's your ROM and how have you rooted it?
Also seems to me there is little mixture of terms. The phone's internal storage is called USB storage if you go to settings and storage management. If you would have external memory card it would be there named SD Card. And now where probably comes the confusion. If you open file manager you will see folder called /sdcard. This is your internal storage aka USB Storage. So if you see message saying unable to mount /sdcard it's your internal storage.
Now to the rest of questions. If you have only stock recovery you can access only external SD card which you don't have, so to flash custom ROM from internal storage you need custom recovery like CWM.
The errors you have experienced after the reboot were caused by the ROM Manager. As I have mentioned before it has compatibility issues with SGS2 and I had my own problems with it ending in corruption of my internal memory which I needed to format at the end to solve the problem.
So my advice is to get rid of the ROM Manager and use instructions from their appropriate ROM threads to install them.
Odoslané z GT-I9100 cez Tapatalk 2
Thank you for clarifying the terminology which I obviously got wrong.
I did use CWM, but via ROM Manager. It turns out that this is what caused the problem. So I got rid of it and followed the instructions in those threads and it works!
Now that I have CyanogenMod 9.0.0, I have another problem:
It does not come with Google Play application. I tried to manually download and install Google Play with APK, and it didn't work.
If you know anything about it I appreciate if you take a look at this thread I opened.

I think Stileth might have this a little wrong. He clearly knows what he is talking about, but like many of the very knowledgable people on this board, it is hard to remember all the details of every phone.
This is what I have on a i9100, exploring with adb shell:
There is a /sdcard directory, which is your internal sdcard
There is a /sdcard/external_sd, which is your external sdcard
There is a /sdcard/usbStorage, which appears to be ram based storage.
I can move files to the usbStorage, but they do not survive a power cycle. I looked at the mount structure, and there is no device mounted for usbStorage, but it is defined as a tmpfs (temperary file system?) same as the other two sdcard directories. Perhaps someone else can fill in more details.
My thinking is that it is this strange file structure that is throwing RomManager off. I am seeing similar behavior as you when using RomManager
usbStorage is used for pendrives.

Thanks, I thought that might be it. Interesting that it lets you store stuff there in a ram cache even if no pendrive/thumbdrive is present.
Hi all, need help with my sdcard not appearing in cm10 ...
I was on the 0815 build and everything was working fine, then i wanted to mount a ntfs drive to my sgs2 via otg cable.. plugged it and got no response, so i thought it must be the fact that the usb is formated in ntfs format... a quick google got me to the app NTFS MOUNTER n i installed it..
After installing it, i notice i still cant access my ntfs usb and so i uninstalled the app.. then i saw that build 0820 is out, so i downloaded it, made cwm backup n installed it... the next morning i noticed tt in my jellybean, my external micro sd does not appear in my gallery or settings-storage.. but when i rebooted to Recovery i can still access the ext sdcard...
Tried to do recovery from a backup i made 0812 but i get the message: ERROR WHILE RESTORING /SYSTEM! message tried other cm10 backups n i keep getting the same message ...
Tried to do clean install (factory reset, install cm10 zip, install gapps, factory wipe) and i still cant access my external sd..
The only way i can my ext sd to work is to restore to my latest cm9 backup... it works just fine, but if i install cm10 afterwards (factory reset, install cm10 zip, install gapps, factory wipe), the ext sd remains invisible to my cm10, be it 0815 or 0820 build..
Tried googling it but cant seem to find any answer w regards to this.. can someone pls help..
Thanks you so very very much!
just download 0821 and give it a try.

If you are talking about normal FAT32 external SD /MicroSD card inserted in your phone, then it is mounted in:
/storage/sdcard1
just use a file manager to access it.
if you can find it there then it will be easier to to find your gallery files
hi all,
thank you for your replies.
But i think you got it wrong, it's not that the media files are not loading in GALLERY or that i cannot find my way in using file explorer apps, but the phone itself seems to not be mounting my sdcard...
Settings -> Storage will only show Internal Storage (1.97 GB) and Internal Storage (11.50 GB)
The Sdcard section is just blank... whileas if i restore to CM9, Sdcard exists (29.32GB) n is accessible from gallery or any file explorer...
HELP
Hmm.... did you try formatting /system from recovery, clean wipe, then flash latest CM10? Might help...

Hi everyone,
Thanks for all the help given to me so generously!
Finally figured out the problem...
Current SD card: CM9 can access, CM10 cannot
Tried another SD card: CM9 can access, CM10 can access
So apparently i found out that there was some corrupted data in the /sdcard/clockworkmod/blobs/gc./
with the directory containing 8 files which names contain gibberish ascii symbols and they were simply unerasable and the /gc./ directory itself was unerasable
Backed up the data in the sdcard and formated it and voila! Problem solved!!
Thanks again everyone!
So glad to be back at CM10 and to know that when CM10 is fully polished, i will have no problems using it...

hi, okay so i have almost the identical problem, i believe that i have corrupted files on my external drive (Patriot 16GB, FAT32) because i also have a clockwork mod backup, a data folder for titanium backup, the superuser zip and a LOST.DIR folder.
i would just delete everything or try to format it, but somehow the SD is now recognized as "read only" in any computer and my phone won't recognize it at all, even after trying "remount sd" apps on the phone. Suggestions? Im totally at a loss and dont have the money to spend on a new external.. thank you!! =]

I think i have had something similar, have you a ext sd card fitted?
My problem is that when the apps is moved to SD it will show it moved to USB storage (in file size info) but its actually moved to ext SD. If i do the same without the card in, i will get your error message.
its so feeling like a blonde moment, I even went back to official ICS and was the same..... (not as i remembered it working).
One moment i thought it was the emmc bug where photos wont be saved but they are fine..... phew.
I'll be interested to see if this is a problem or i am having a blonde moment and cant remember how the storage works.

finally I solve the problem, the internal SD memory (EMMC) at one point was mounted in read-only mode because vfat was corrupt, so when an application tried to write to that partition the internal SD was remounted in read-only. It is therefore not a problem with the ROM JB Samsung but from years of installations of different ROM and especially by removing the battery to turn off the phone when it crashed.
to solve this ANNOYING problem , I have installed the kernel-Philz cwm6-XXLSJ-OXX-3.1 , and copy to external SD AROMA File Manager ; from recovery i have check the file system with fsck.exfat ( fsck.exfat -fR / dev/block/mmcblk0p11 ) ; This command will force a file system checkand will automate the recovery / removal of corrupted files .
Since I followed this procedure, the problem was no longer presented.
If you are in this situation and you have any doubt contact me I will try to help you.

Well, I am in this annoying situation (with official jb, but the problem is the same) but I don't know how to run that command on Aroma's terminal, it says "sh: fsck.exfat: not found". From where do I have to run it? do I have to install filechecker before?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I couldn't do it from aroma's terminal, but did it without any problem with the app "Android Terminal Emulator"(root needed).
Thank you for the lead that finally brought me the answer.
hello and sorry for my noob questions!
I have the same problem, try this method but not work, in Aroma and terminal I receive the same response "device not found" or something like that
can you help me please?
SGSII I9100
Wanamlite 13.0 LSJ
Jeboo v1.2a
(sorry for my english)
Why on earth are you messing around trying to fix problems in leaked JB/based roms instead of doing clean install of public final/based rom?

Next time quote, so we'll know that you asked something
I suppose you managed to fix this yourself, but if not for you, maybe for a future user, here's the answer; run the command "su" (without the quotes) before running "fsck.exfat -fR /dev/block/mmcblk0p11"
Galaxy s2 internal storage issue

finally I solve the problem, the internal SD memory (EMMC) at one point was mounted in read-only mode because vfat was corrupt, so when an application tried to write to that partition the internal SD was remounted in read-only.

Same problem here bro. Reboot only fixes it temporarily and the problem is back after a few minutes.
EDIT: Fixed! Just had to reformat USB storage. Thankfully nothing valuable on there anyway.

Samsung Ace 5830i - Rom Jelly Bean 4.1.1
Could I please get advice on how to change the internal storage to SD storage?
Phone to see sd memory as internal memory.
I typed but failed:
system/etc/vold.fstab
Code:
## vold configuration file for the emulator/SDK
## This is the direct uevent device path to the SD slot on the device
#emu_media_path /devices/platform/goldfish_mmc.0/mmc_host/mmc0
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard auto /devices/platform/bcm_sdhc.3/mmc_host/mmc1
I tried to use Link2SD, and I was not satisfied. (I do not want another application).
My English is poor, sorry
Thank You

You can use script like CronMod to increase the internal memory. All you need is a rooted phone, a rom with init.d support (all custom roms have one) and ext partition on SD Card (Go to CWM>Advanced>Partition SD Card>Size (1GB max)>Swap (0MB) Wait to get "Partitioning Done" message). If you have previously installed Link2SD, make sure to delete all the Link2SD config files (in /system/etc/init.d/ and /system/etc/install-recovery.sh delete the line mounting ext3 partition). If you still have problem flashing CronMod, I suggest you reflash the rom. Here is the link,
Cronmod Unofficial
Hope I Helped

Try to reflash the rom and then flash CronMod. It must be the Link2SD files messing it up.
