Hi to all,
Sorry about the question. Just want some opinion and i dont mean to promote/demote android or wp7.
I have desire HD, but mine having problem with random reboot, poor battery life(after overnight charge can last 7am-2pm)...thinking on getting a phone with better batt life with heavy use on whatsapps and browsing. No gaming or other funny2 apps on android
I should have buy another better android phone but now i already having other android devices (samsung plus 7.0 and Noontec android HD player). Now thinking on getting Lumia 800,do it have a good batt life?
Some say yes, some say no. I found mine decent enough, and I used it pretty heavily.
I did this switch about a week ago, having had a negative experience introducing my Desire HD to a marble floor at high velocity...
Basically I love the phone - the facebook/twitter integration is fantastic.
Probably worth saying though that the battery life isn't fantastic. Just about on a par with my Desire HD, though I do find the indicator to be somewhat overly cautious - 50% charge remaining looks more like 30 on the little display (reached this at 4pm today) ...
I use social sites, push gmail, spotify streaming (1hr), 10 SMS and approx 1 hr calls plus other minor stuff and generally get about 16 hours before charging. I suspect if you use it more you will get less. not a problem for me as it sits on the charger at work, but may be more relevant if you can't do that ...
The only thing I miss from my Desire HD is the Internet Sharing functionality, which is there in WP7.5, just waiting on Nokia to update it ...
The size and display are beautiful - I carry an iPad 2 for things that benefit from a larger screen, but am currently finding myself using the phone more for emails etc.
I heard a lot of negativity around the door covering the USB port, but I quite like it ....
You might want to see what happens with the Lumia 900 as well - that may have a bigger battery and better battery life (or it may not).

As a Lumia 800 user, I find the switch to be very painful and counter-productive. Here are some of the issues that I have encountered:
Extremely poor battery life. I cannot stress this enough. On normal usage (non-smartphone activities), it is fine. But try using Nokia Maps for 15 minutes or so and you will see the battery drain very, very quickly. And Nokia Maps is not even close to what Google Maps can do in terms of features.
No multi-tasking. Imagine this: you are in the middle of an action game when you accidentally press the Search button. Boom! The search interface pops up. Your game? Gone.
STILL NO USB OR WIFI TETHERING/HOTSPOT!!! Aarrrggghhh!!! It's 2012, not 2002.
Over-zealous OS lockdown. No third party dialer (those on the market aren't real dialer replacements). No folders for apps. No USB mass storage (fortunately, you can enable this through a simple registry tweak).
Very expensive games (compared to iOS or Android) with generally lower quality graphics.
Having said all this, your requirements may be very different from mine. It does have a nice & responsive UI, very good social network integration, nice MS Office hub and a nice email application. Some people swear by Lumia 800.

That's a load of rubbish. Long-press the back button and the task manager appears.
I've just migrated from Android to WP7 on the Lumia and am much happier. Now I'm not messing about flashing ICS roms every week I trust my phone with my data.

You will definitely like the Lumia 800 if you're coming from a Desire HD (I owned and hated that phone XD) the newer models of the Lumia 800 hasn't had any problems with battery life. For whatsapp and browsing, it's fine. Gaming drains as usual. See if there's anyway to lend one. To see how battery works out for you.
Nice point of view, yes, I don't do game on small device, even on tab I found it hard. But no tethering? How about near future, since my laptop will share internet from phone. I just want a simple phone with social n web browse. Thanks all

Not all games/apps can handle that gracefully. Fusion:Sentient would simply restart the game while Wordament would reset the score (when "switched out" at certain point).
Hi,
got my Luma on Saterday and i love it, i have came from an Desire, the differance is amazing, smooth and fast, will not be hicking this, hope there will be more apps comming out, had to wait a while before the android mrket got some decent apps.
the batteryis hard to judge got mine on all the tme, playing games or music downlaoding music frome zune (for free for 14 days woho)
came from desire s not going back
go for it..you will not regret it..you will get better battery life than the desire hd no matter what..my friend still has a desire hd and im trying hard for him to not convert to iphone..
the lumia is so seamless..so flawless..i had actually converted from the desire s to an lg optimu 7 but immediately realised i needed the lumia..got one from ebay and it really is amazing..try it..just try it..
OK.I'm convinced. One more thing, I regularly take photos during my work time. But my office desktop dont hve zune(can't install anything w/o admin permission) ..so can I access photo w/o zune or access SD card directly(I already google but can't find answer)...

Ahhh...ok, I have another solution, when you purchase your phone, download the app Skydrive, it's Microsoft's cloud connected to your Hotmail account, so you can upload your photos there and access them through your email account, that way you don't have to install anything and it's easier for you to upload pictures to that and load them on to your phone when you get home to your PC vice-versa.
Bought a lumia Hope its fullfil my needs...but look like it will...need to test batt life

Hi everybody,
I kind of in the same situation. I am currently an Android user, and I really like it, but two things bother me:
- OS Fragmentation, I hate having to install custom roms every time because the official update never comes, and manufacturers usually leave 6 months old devices forgotten.
- Another thing, I've noticed that WP usually have "less powerful" hardware than Android, there is no big race for dual or quad cores... That tells me that the OS doesn't need that much power to run smoothly.
Said that, i have a few questions. What is the expected longevity for this phone? Is it expected to receive the next OS update? and finally, what are the main drawbacks you find for the OS and are they expected to be solved in future updates?
Thanks in advance and cheers

Microsoft and Nokia have been doing quite well as far as OS and firmware updates are concerned. Sure there are lots of country variants for the firmware and they may not be released at the same time, but the wait is nowhere near as long as what Android users typically have to endure.
Also, OS updates seem to be quite independent of firmware updates (correct me if I'm wrong). At least this is the case for Lumia 800. So that makes it a lot easier for Microsoft to push new OS updates to WP users directly.
As for the hardware, you are correct. WP (up until now) does not really require multi-core CPU in order to run smoothly. Lumia 800 is packed with a single-core 1.4GHz processor, so it is quite a powerful phone. My only gripe is the under-powered GPU for gaming. 3D games look less appealing compared to their Android or iOS counterparts.
As for the drawbacks, I have already listed quite a few in the previous page.
For me I think I was happier with android, but the installation of new roms was a great pleasure for me, not a drawback.
The OS runs smooth as anything on its 1.4ghz core and I never use my phone for 3d gaming so I really have no need for a faster proc.
The biggest drawback for me are the following.
-Some of the 'simplification' of the OS is mid-boggling. If you turn down the volume because its late at night, or your music is too loud expect EVERYTHING on your phone to have a lower volume, the ringtone, the alarm, the games, the notifications etc. I have been late for work 3 times now because I had dropped the volume of my alert tones late at night and I subsequently had no alarm.
-The apps are lacking but expanding all the time, sometimes I get a bit frustrated by the 'no results' when searching for a slightly more obscure app feature. Android just has everything.
-The navigation is a long way off being as good as google navigation but is decent all the same, but NO WAY POINTS (stupidity!). That being said I still think google navigation is still a way off the market leaders like tomtom.
Basically for a day to day phone and for its core features, it is excellent. But dont expect to be able to customise anything other than your home tiles (sometimes). If an OS 'feature' could be considered to confuse a simpleton then you can bet your arse it wont be there.

When I played NFS Underground an accidently pressed the Search button, when going back to the game it didn't continue. It started all over. So no not a load of rubbish. Only native apps has continue on "multi-task"
It's not only native apps, third party ones can do it, as long as they're coded for it.
hi all,
just wondering what you guys make of your xperia s's?
i've had an htc wildfire s for around 8-9 months now i guess and i absolutely hate it.
it;'s slow, it has no memory, crashes all the time and is generally a terrible piece of technology.
thinking of getting myself an xperia s because i can't really justify spending £500 on an iphone ha ha.
how do you guys find your phone in terms of reliability/stability? how's the battery life?
are there any drawbacks or issues you have noticed? what other benefits does it offer other than being a hell of a lot faster and prettier than my htc?
i've read something about it having psn store? how does that work?
sorry for the total lack of orgranisation in this post, i'm just eager to learn
phone is wonderfull, i would never change it.
But i give it 8 of 10, cuz had problem with yellow tint on display, and some others...
battery life is quitly good.
Battery life is not so good, how long should I charge the phone?

Very nice, good battery life if you don't overload it, the software is really good.

cool, thanks for the input guys.
yellow tint though? maybe a faulty unit? or is this a common issue?
i'm thinking of going for this over the iphone now because it has
-twice the battery
-twice the processing speed
-twice the storage
-12mp camera
-psn store
-around 2/3 the cost (have seen in online for £360, vs apple's £500).
just not sure because i really like the iOS5 and the general smoothness of the iPhones....but this xperia does seem to blow it out of the water on every level ha ha.
Reserved for tonight
Verstuurd van mijn LT26i met Tapatalk
The delay of ICS has seen me lusting after the One X and, more recently, the S III BUT they are considerably more expensive and actually similar in spec anyway.
I think once ICS arrives, I'll fall back in love with this. The screen blows everything (those two included) away!

The most recent devices haven't got this issue anymore, but you don't have much control over how new a device you'll receive and there are reports of it disappearing over time anyway.
I ordered mine from 3 (UK) the same night my girlfriend ordered hers directly from Sony, and I got a newer model which doesn't show any sign of a tint (w19) compared to hers (w13), and I had .73 firmware compared to her .67.
Having said that, she's not a gamer or anything and just uses the phone for calls, texts, facebook etc and hasn't noticed any tint either (often contributed to high phone temperatures). I think by the sounds of it, and there's no offense intended here, but coming from a Wildfire, I wouldn't expect you to be a massively heavy user and an Xperia S would be fine for you.
The screen is absolutely fantastic and is easily comparable to, if not better than the iPhone retina. I don't think you'll regret getting one in the slightest.
nice one, yeah, i've been reading a bit more about this phone, and a lot of people say that the yellow tint thing goes away after time (and that many other smartphones, including iphone, are subject to similar problems anyway).
yeah, coming from the wildfire s, i just basically want a phone that WORKS
went down to carphone warehouse today to have a little play around on one, and i was pretty impressed, it all seems pretty smooth and fast (and that was on an old software version i believe, since it's just a display model, which they won't bother keep updating it all the time).
one thing i did notice was the lack of the psn store on the display model....it had the playstation app where you can view playstation news and blogs etc, but the store didn't seem to be there....
this was one of the main reasons i was thinking of going for this phone specifically....is there any reason why it was missing? is it because i'm in the uk? :S
hopefully it's just soemthing that comes with an update or something?

The PSN store is quite useless really. Any decent emulator blows it out of the water.
yeah, but i don't plan on rooting or any of that jazz with this phone :s

ah, cool. long as they are doing something about it :s it's one of the major selling points in my view :s
i mean £3.99 isn't exactly a bad price for some classic games, but i don't see the point in buying them again if i've already bought them on the ps store before :s ha ha.
i might just go ahead and order this tomorrow (my sisters friend is selling her iphone 4 [not 4s] so i'm borrowing it for tonight to see what i think....but i'm more likely to go for the xperia s i think.....it's just an amazing looking phone

When I went into o2 at Westfield Statford to test the Xperia S I was a little bit bummed by the overall smoothness of it due to some minor lag etc but when I checked it's running time it had been on for over 500 hours (3 weeks) and of course every tom **** and harry been experimenting on it.
When I got my own XS the experience was 10x better so if you liked the display model you should like it even more when you own one
yeah i'm going to order this tomorrow, if i get it form argos i get 7 months to pay it off (and if i use my dad's discount it puts it down to £360, same as play.com and amazon).
i've just read also that these phones come pre-fitted with a screen protector
is this correct (especially for uk peeps)?
if so, that's genius, because applying those things are near to impossible without getting bubbles etc.
does anyone use another screen protector on top? or is it best to use the pre-fitted one until it gets scratched/damaged.
i was going to go carphone warehouse and get their pro-fitting/lifetime warrenty, but if it comes pre-fitted i needn't bother until it gets damaged?
yes, it indeed comes prefitted with a screen protector so just use it as is, it's great
(and they also included an extra one in the box too!!)
battery life is pretty good, and should be better once Ice Cream Sandwich releases (soon), so the only thing i've done is switch auto-sync off, mobile network as 2G and screen brightness to about one-third
the (built in) Power Saver app, timed saver modes also help (I set it to switch wi-fi, 3g, bluetooth, nfc, screen brightness etc to off or low between 1am and 7am for example)
as for PlayStation certification:
you get a link 'Let's start PS Store' to instructions
where you can download PS Store
so I don't know whether it connects with PlayStation Network PSN ID (haven't tried yet!!)
but the forthcoming PlayStation Mobile might be what PlayStation certified devices have access to
I've used Xperia S for about one month.
I feel Xperia S with DooMKernel & Xperia SSpeed ROM is SO GOOD!!!!!
I can use Xperia S all day long without charging.
Hi Gloris,
Forget about PSN and go ahead and buy this phone, for me it's the best smartphone ever exists since now, and it will be better after some weeks with android ICS ; I was using the iphone's model since many years, after buying the 4s, I was very disappointed! it's a jock, it's maybe useful for the paraplegic persons, but how really needs to speak to his phone! which asks you to repeat many times .... well, I sold my Iphone 4s after 2 weeks of use, and I bought an HTC sensation XE and I updated to ICS 4.0.3, I was very impressed by this OS, it's excellent, no more syc with itunes, you have just to copy and paste what you need in your phone via USB cable, (music, pics, files, apps, games ...), but I was still disappointed about the hardware of this HTC, so I bought my xperia S since one month, version 67 with no yellow screen issue, and now I'm really satisfied and it will be better after the release of ISC .... the camera is just wonderful, the screen excellent, 1.5 ghz processor, 1 go RAM, 32 Go HDD, sound Sony! I’m using it with a beats audio headphone, it’s a crazy …. You can pay movies full HD 1080p and link you phone to the TV via HDMI cable …. No seriously, stop asking questions and go buy it ….

From the changelog of the new Tegra game Heroes Calls in Play Store:
•Fixed a bug starting the game for the first time with no Internet connection
•Fixed the tavern linking to Facebook and inviting friends
•Fixed a couple of crashes on pre GB devices
•No fix yet for the Transformer Prime crashes, sorry. We are hoping a OTA update fixes that, in the meantime we hear "Performance" mode helps.
•Seeing quite a few corrupted downloads from the play store. If your game fails to load, please try re downloading.
Just wanted to bring this to your attention. Even Game Devs are at a loss about the crashes and hope for an OTA to fix it....

Well its like this:
The longer my prime runs without a restart the more likely it becomes that games crash. Especially 3D games. Almost ALL my polygon based games are affected. Modern Combat3, ShadowGun, Fish live (aquarium game), Hero's calls etcetc. After a restart it runs fine for an evening and the next day they will crash again. The issue has been discussed before in other threads.
I just wanted to show you guys, that game devs have these issues as well. Hopefully ASUS does something about it, because i guess its pretty bad publicity when game devs write something like "game crashes because of bad software on the Transformer Prime" in their game description.
I'm hoping ASUS makes this issue top priority, thats all
Just installed and played for about an hour with no crashes. Boy that game is fun. I was looking for a Diablo 3 style game and this totally fits the bill! Just wish it had an online mode.
I am totally frustrated, this is a nightmare I hate you ASUS !!!!
Many times I thought I discovered the solution.... but.... no... is there ! again and again ! CRASH CRASH CRASH
Out of games my Prime is GREAT ! but dammmmmmmmm every game is crashing !
I am a new user of HTC One X with also Tegra 3 and I have no crashes at all ! so dam ASUS is your fault ! I am fed up ! I don't know what to do ! I have tried EVERYTHING:
- Mods
- ATP_Tweak + Tune + SIO
- Cold Boot
- "Just one process" and settings like that
- Remove nearly al my apps !
- No task Killer
- No Mail Accounts
- Like ! million of factory reset and any kind of wipes !
What the hell is happening !
Sorry guys but I am totally frustrated !
I bought my Prime 8 Months Ago ! And still the same !!!!!!!!!!!
I don't want to unlock it becouse of I am starting to think in RMA !
Is there any new news about these issues ?
Should I wait for JB before any move ?

x2. Same thing with the graphical distortions some people have on JellyBean Roms, while most don't have these issues.
Software is exactly the same, so it must be hardware problems/differences.

What exactly would you RMA to cure? There is no solution to bad software aside from replacing it with good software. Broken glass...RMA, Broken camera....probably RMA but maybe not, bluetooth/wifi dropout...not sure if they are fixing that or not but I read somewhere here they are, BAD DRIVERS, SOFTWARE, I/O....UNLOCK and fix it better than ASUS is going to.

My opinion is you unlock it and put a decent ROM on it. Or you sell it. Either way it won't matter that unlocking voids the warranty.

i have posted the solution a few threads below. The problem with my Prime is slow internal memory(caused by possibly low quality memory or old drivers), we can't replace the memory or update the drivers, so the solutions is to move your games data to a fast microsd card and bind the directories using an app called"directory bind", after that all games will run normaly with normal framerate.
I run every single gameloft game or tegra 3 games without any lag or crashs or low framerate.
Send me a PM if you need help setting up your prime

Inviato dal mio GT-I9100 con Tapatalk 2
Prime is known for having slow random write speeds on storage memory. But... why does a game needs to do heavy random writes on storage?? It should be able to work only on volatyle memory (RAM) with low sorage needs... Google Chrome, wich is a browser, and like every browser, needs to use storage to write, and they appear to have find the light to solve the issues on Prime... in conclusion, this excuse by game developers is bull****, in my oppinion
ThiaiZ said:
i have posted the solution a few threads below.

PM sended !
I have to say that after going back to stock launcher (empty + Big Clock), my prime seems not perfect but more stable ! I was using Apex launcher + Big Clock + Tapatalk Widgets + poweramp widget + a lot of Folder Organizer widgets.
Things was going worse after adding a lot of folder organizer widgets (1x1 widgets).
So I am starting to think FolderOrganizer is causing a lot of problems ! (Not in my last tablet or my Sensation... neither in my HOX...). In all these 8 months removing folderorganizer is something I have never try ! I will give it a try together with ThiaiZ solution.
I am going to investigate.... will give u my feedback.
TY
I don't own a prime but when your games crash, does the screen flicker before it crashes? This used to happen on the TF300 but has since stopped since the update to Jellybean. I don't think Jellybean is that far away for prime users so maybe you can expect a fix when you get jellybean.

Same here got the TF300T with jb there has been no crashes so far. I used Ram manager pro while on ics and it seemed to prevent crashes using the hard mode while playing graphics intense games. Give it a try

Cheers, just downloaded Ram Manager Pro and set to Hard Gaming and can actually play Horn and Real Racing 2, which stopped and haven't worked even after many soft reboots. Just hope it lasts, as most of these fixes in this forum seem to only temporarily work

You know, I noticed after installing the roms here that my crash issues vanished. There is something to be said about the compatability of Asus firmware.
I too had crashes on some of the THD (Tegra-only) games. While they still happen on the CM or other custom roms, I found they are much much less.
But lets not blame ASUS; From what I've been told it's related to Intel's code that has caused most of the issues with THD games, and they're not exclusive to the Prime, either.

ASUS is selling a full product... When an user buy a Prime, is looking for power... And when prime goes under heavy load is the moment when all problems start.... This means that u spend 600€ in a high end tablet to be able to use it just for a normal multimedia / web / office usage which is OK but can be done nearly exactly the same with cheaper tablets...
And more important....
As I said in other posts....
I own a HOX... as u know is also a Tegra 3 device.... and... well... I have... let's see... let me count how many crashes since I bought it... mmm.... mmmm..... 0 ! 0 ! 0 !
So... the only guilty here is ASUS ! That let users buy a product that doesn't work properly ! We are here to 1 Year since Prime Arrives !
I am going to try bid solution and Ram Manager PRO.
TY
Hi !
After all this months since ATP launch, I have tried all FW versions, with or without root, every schedulers... every tweak available in ATP forums (MRCANNADY solution, ATP Tweak and many others...), all kind of wipes... all ! I keep getting random crashes playing games (far more frequently with intensive graphics games, but with all in general...).
Outside games I have 0 crashes and all is fast and perfect ! but playing nearly all games (all but rovio games and some other older games...) I have random crashes... this is a nightmare ... I cannot play anything ! dam !
Please any help ?? I will try EVERY suggestion ! I don't mind to do a full wipe 100 times ! I just want to USE my tablet
My Info:
ASUS Transformer Prime Gold + Dock + Locked + Root + MicroSD 32Gb (With Music, Images, Videos... just media...).
Really TY.
------------------------------------
Edited:
I think I found a solution after 8 months or so.... and is SOOOOO simple !!!! No tweak will fix this.... no tweak BUT just doing a cold boot like u can see in this video, will fix the problem:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTU38Ewh8qo
I suppose cold boot clear dalvik and cache... so I imagine that the problem under all of this... is that maybe dalvik or cache decays over time ! then I try cold boot and ALL games that suppose to work with TF201 works again ! with no crashes !
No need to ATP Tweak + Sio + Tune.... (Anyway this is good over general performance)
No need to set 1 task limit or use "don't keep activities" option !
No need to use App timer pro
JUST cold boot and all is OK again !!!!!!!!!!
This means there is NO problem with RAM management neither HW problem.... just a corruption over time in dalvik or cache !
Please all with this kind of problems, try it and give us your feedback !
I hope that ASUS will gives a FW version VALID for TF201 ! The tablet is sooo good ! but SW is soooo BAD ! I has no sense that users that have spend 600€ have to wait 1 year to be able to use a "usable" tablet... and has no sense also that people need to spend a lot of time to look for solutions instead of being using the dam tablet !
Users 1 - Asus 0 !
TY u all for the help !
I hate the game crashes also. have you tried a custom rom. like Androwook 2.1? my games hardly crash on this rom. I finally was able to play Nova3 in my prime today. i played it for a long time and it played great. I don't really experience game crashes on my prime anymore since running a custom rom(Androwook) with motley alpha kernel 3.05. performance difference, for me, is a huge improvement compared to stock.
maybe the update Asus will release soon, which addresses I/O issues, will improve things on gaming front. I believe this is the last ICS update we will receive before we get JB. you can wait to see if update improves things. if not then unlock. or you could just unlock now. custom rom will always perform better than stock ones anyways. more features, performance enhancements, etc..

They may have decided to just go straight to JB. I asked Gary what happened to the firmware update he mentioned 9 days ago but did not get a reply.

I have to wholeheartedly disagree here. While stock roms will often perform better than crappy custom roms from crappy companies, it's not fair to make this statement. You have a Nexus 7 - you can't tell me you think a custom rom will easily outperform what Google's done with stock JB.

Stock jb is cool. but for me, its even better with motley kernel instead of stock one. plus nexus 7 custom Roms. it has more features & performance enhancements than stock.
life is about choices. no one has to unlock if they dont want to. I believe next update or 2 will be the biggest ones for prime since changing to ics.
Unlock is the last option...
So... after months it is not possible to avoid crashes... So sad... I cannot believe it...
I play sonic 4 ep1... It crash....
I play sonic 4 ep2... It crash....
I play shoadowgun... It crash....
I play dead space... It crash....
I play nova 3... It crash....
I play ME Infiltrator... It crash....
I play Dark Meadow... It crash....
I play Montezuma 3... It crash....
I play Final Fantasy III... It crash....
I play Zenonia 4... It crash....
I play Jelly Defense... It crash....
What the hell is happening !
I hear ya! I am also sick of the game crashes... months have gone by! I still don't want to have to unlock and flash a custom rom just to use this thing properly. Gary is no help... "there is an update that I will release to.. blah blah..." update supposedly gets sent out and tested... then next update is " there is an update that I will release to... blah blah.." Have not seen anything since .28! That was a month ago and it barely did anything!! Specifically what it did not fix in any way is the game crashes... which was supposedly on the list to fix.
Asus-- Just give us the infinity as a replacement already... you already made us feel like a bunch of idiots for paying for a dysfunctional product-- then releasing a revised version for the same price 6 months later!!
There is a free app here in XDA called "app timer pro", this app together with ATP Tweak (SIO + tune max v0.4) stopped the need of restarting the Prime every days for been able to play games.I can play every singe game out there without crashes or the need of restarting the prime. Try it out, maybe helps.
I started playing Batman the dark knight rises yesterday and after 1,5 hours prime was still going on without any problems.
Guess I have a heavier configuration on my prime than you,so it should help:
C4 32GB + dock
-Bluetooth and wifi on all the time

When i was stock i had the same issue but never had these problems on aokp or androwookie...with motley, only times my system reboots is if im mass installing downloading and things and just overload the system, but game wise no, i played shadowgun and dead trigger for 4 hours at work other night without a reboot either
I feel your pain. Have the same problem here. It is a bit embarrassing trying to show someone my prime or a game I have installed on it. Options are either reboot first before playing or pray it doesn't freeze up. The main issue I have that really bothers me is the main screen just randomly freezes and goes blank. All that I have is my wallpaper. The only option I have is to reboot. I have tried all the suggested fixes and nothing seems to help. I really love my prime, when it works. It is a great tablet, but these issues really need to get fixed and soon.

Sorry to have to say this but get a iPad. Know I'll get flamed for this but I had the prime & it didn't live up to the hype. No flame here, but kinda curious why you are hanging out in the prime forum with your Ipad? Don't blame you. I would miss my prime too after buying a locked down Ipad. I really do like my prime. I think it could have gone from a very good to a great tablet if Asus didnt make me feel like they forgot all about their customers that bought primes. I don't want to sound like I'm complaining but feel a bit left out since Asus now has their other tablets that work properly and they can make money off of. I think the prime is something that Asus would like to forget about. Such a shame.

Neither solve anything for me
Today I bought the new "the dark night" game, and guess what ?:
1. First Try to run the game --> I have a black screen and something like a cursor flashing in the center forever --> I press home and manual kill
2. Trying again... --> I have a black screen and something like a cursor flashing in the center forever --> I press home and manual kill
3. Trying again... --> Main menu load ! Then I press New Game.... Game start loading... After a while some display flash and.... --> CRASH !
4. Trying again... --> Main menu load ! Then I press New Game.... Game start loading... I CAN PLAY ! but after like 10 mins.... --> CRASH !
This is so frustrating.... is the same with all games ! I have a lot of random crashes with all games and also some kind of display flashes with intensive graphics games... This piece of "nothing" cost me 600€ ! Dam !
So what are my options ???
1. Maybe this is normal for the stock ROM (TY ASUS !) --> Unlock + CFW fix all --> HAPPY END !
2. Maybe this is not normal for the stock ROM --> Unlock + CFW don't fix anything (HW Problem ?) --> Loose warranty -> NOOOOO !
3. RMA my prime and cross fingers !
4. Just literally destroy my TF201 (Because no one will buy it) and forget all about this forever !
I am fed up and sad ! I really need a solution....

Hello there,
I mainly want this tablet only for two purposes, one is browsing and another is watching movies.
But i just came to know that this tablet has an aspect ration of 4:3 and watching movies in this tablet will cause the movies to end up with two black spaces on either side.
Will this take away the experience of watching a movie? Other than from Browsing(which i'v heard this tablet is very good) my main usage is at watching Youtube videos and Movies.
Can any of you be kind enough to tell me about these and if this tablet is still good enough to purchase?
Regards,
Adi4u4882
I have this tablet. Its great. Had I known it would NEVER get updated to Android 5 or Android 6.. I would never have bought it. Dont be deceived by the updates it gets now. Those are just APP updates. Since it launched what about 2 years ago now its still on Android 4.4.4.
I would buy something else.. In the long run its worth it.
I have bought this tablet for my wife. Good thing was that i had few days for myself to test it. The big worry was that it will come all in China language and no Play store. As it turns out not to worry. There was English as default (even Polish was an option) and there was Google Play. All works superb. For this price its a bargain of the year. My wife use this tablet for imgur, google books and games so she is more then happy.
The only small problem... If you ever will want to do factory reset you need to have a google keyboard app ready. After FR there is no keyboard at all... so you cant connect to wifi and you have to have app on the sdcard.
Thats all from me.
For somebody who is not bother with the old software (kitkat) then this is a perfect tablet.

Hey, can you explain what you mean? As far i know, Miui 7 was released sometime now and its based on Lolipop. Its available for Mipad here-> http://en.miui.com/download-229.html
What he means is that MIUI 7 for MiPad is based on KitKat.
Ya for watching movies it is a little odd one. In case of YouTube it's fine
Then about KitKat OMDG PLZ its crap
Don't know whether you are a nerd or not..... Any way its been 2months iam using it and here is my verdict
Pros:
1. Blistering performance
2. Nvidia CPU and GPU are doing best for a hand
held device.
3. Gaming is a whole new level
4. LG battery is a true power source for long time and
charge up quickly
6. Display is decend under direct sunlight.
Cons:
1. selecting Bluetooth from multiple windows closes
most of the time.
2. Brightness sometimes have its own idea about
changing to full blast ( don't say that auto
brightness is on or off ,I know well about how it
works)
3. Background app has limit ( even developer option
only gives choosing between number limits and
standard limit)
4. Background apps stops most of the times ( even
the second one in background stops occasionally)
5. Connecting to internet via Bluetooth devices has its
own mind about disconnecting all the times.
6. Camera didn't work always, its not stock camera
app, all apps for camera won't work occasionally
which inturn points culprit as nasty hardware
problem
7. All keys on bezel (back, home, multiple window) are
not good in response which is an inconvenience .
(you can use many soft key apps instead which
iam using now)
8. Mi Ui is not good(awful) which always take quiet a
time to load up if we prefer to go home directly.
9. Screen shot appear as a widget not a combination
keys which is inconvenient and annoying many
times
10. Entire system some times ( once in
thousand) slows in terms of performance.
11. Quiet a lot of heat builds up on gaming.
12. Last not least....... OMDG plz get rid of the that
stupid KitKat OS plz plz plz.....

Ty for the post mate, i was thinking to buy the device but i was hoping that miui 7 is based on Lollipop (that apparently itsnot) and that the tablet could be a bit more solid. I will check for something else, take care
As far as device being stuck with KitKat -- are there any specific apps you wanted to run on the tablet and couldn't because they require the newer OS?
Without going the CM route, can the Google Launcher be installed on it?
Funny enough that my wife did want this tablet to be her candy crash saga device she couldnt install it from playstore. We had to download an older version and put the apk on the device and then i installed. Apart from that all the apps she is using on htc one (LP) she is using on MIPad

Global Stable Build only. AFAIK it will still be based on kitkat.
Have it since its release.
Its fantastic .
Great sound for movies and music.
Runs any game smoothly.
Browsing is effortlessly.
Nice is nice , not to big not to small.
Overall if you want a tablet that will just perform without hiccups then this is a good option.
eventhough this device has cm12.1 port but still its not for daily driver. xiaomi doesn't even release the sources.
I was really looking forward to buying this device keeping in mind the specs & pricing. Cant really decide if i should buy this Mipad or wait for the Mipad 2.
So far the the Mipad 2 only offers a mild upgrade in terms of processor (whose gaming performance I'm totally unsure of) & build quality. Infact the lack of expandable memory slot rather makes want to avoid waiting for the mipad 2.
Although Mipad is stuck on Kitkat, the fine Nvidia gpu makes sure it can run any game you throw at it with ease. The real question is with the lack of updates from xiaomi, how long will mipad continue to be a master amongst gaming tablets ?
Please suggest me if I should buy this device or if there is anything better in the market around this price range, considering this device is almost 2 years old now.
You know what, as the micro-USB charging port on my Teclast P70 started to malfunction less than a year of use in, I've grown more fond of the Type-C connector. While wherever MiPad 2 being an upgrade over MiPad in terms of the raw power is arguable, the Type-C connector and newer OS would sway me to by a MiPad 2.
Yes
I'm regret too. Better buy NVidia Shield Tab. :crying::crying:
Its Great
Its a great device for media consumption , browsing , watching movies and playing games but not so good in terms of multitasking as MIUI is quite heavy and it has only 2GB ram but it does all other things smoothly without issues ! In this price range , atleast i think this is the best

Regards,

Simply put, NO. Nobody really mentions the overheat, the persistent lag throughout the UI, etc. I purchased this and the Redmi Note 2 together new and both have been a disaster. The Mi 3W was like the best thing in the world until the sim adapter ruined the sim pins. The Mi 4 was great although it overheated as well in Performance Mode, but performance wouldn't really drop because of the heat. The Mi Note was the love of my life until my son caused me to accidentally drop it two weeks after buying it.
Mi Pad? Terrible. It's nothing like MIUI on any other device. Heck, even the nice MIUI port for the Nexus 7 2012 and 2013 give those two LIFE. But this thing has been a disaster. The UI isn't smooth, not even browsing or typing. The heat? I mean I'm typing this all on it on Balanced Mode, brightness a little over half, no other apps running, no vibration, no sound and average room temp and it's already at 37.2° Celsius (98.96° Fahrenheit). Gaming? I think you can cook an egg on the back. It will throttle. Even ran the 3D Mark "Ice storm Unlimited" benchmark while hot a few days ago and it told me that the device was not at its best and should probably have some background apps closed or given time to cool down. Sure, not everyone wants to game on it even though the GPU was designed for that, but again, typing this up is giving it a bit of a struggle to keep its cool.
It is a beautiful device, and no device is perfect, but I really wouldn't recommend it. Thankfully the heat has not caused my battery to drain at the moment it is occurring (I have seen this with other devices I've owned), but heat + battery = problematic battery in a closer than expected future.
I really don't want to shart on your hopes, but when I read about it, it was a must have for me. Sadly, it was not what I expected.
*If its at a good price and SEALED NEW, sure go for it. But otherwise, big no.
IF IT IS A MI PAD 2, RESEARCH ISSUES FIRST.
Thanks for your candid response. Any potential Mi Pad *2* buyers may also want to consider the fact that Intel has recently decided to drop the entire Atom division (Mi Pad 2 is powered by Intel Atom X5-Z8500), so I wouldn't hold my breath for *any* Android updates for existing Atom-based products.
Has mi pad improved its software?
Its June 2016, has mi pad updates able to solve the heating and other issues till now or this is still a no buy?
Alternatively, is the cm-11 build stable enough for mi pad?
Cm11 is quite stable.
I use Cm11 and it'sfine overall. I get the occasional unexpected app closure but it's not an issue.
I use it for browsing, ebooks and youtube mainly.
Hope this helps.
