Does anyone happen to know what the frame rate is on this phone for video recordings? I see info online saying that it's set at 30fps but my recordings come out a 25.6 for some reason. Is this something that could be getting altered by the ROM I'm using? Really screws up the footage I shoot.

When I try to record anything in the stock blur camcorder it will lag and chop while recording and subsequently do the same on video playback. It will also freeze and make the phone nonresponsive from time to time.
Am I the only one with this issue. Its incredibly irritating. Every video I've taken in the last two weeks is junk.

I see this as well. It has been like that for awhile now. Stuttering recording = stuttering playback.
Happens to me too, really annoying. I thought it was because my SD card wasn't fast enough at first, but I upgraded to a Class 10 and it's still crap. Then I thought maybe it was fast motion causing bitrate spikes or something, but it even happens in my workout videos.
It didn't happen on 2.3.3. The only thing I can think is a bug within the 2.3.4 blur camcorder.

It happened on all three OS versions for me. I thought 2.3.4 was supposed to address it, according to the changelog...
I wonder if the newly released 2.3.5 has this issue?!?

The quieter you are, the more you will hear.
Part of the problem is that, for some reason, Motorola set the bitrate really high (13 Mbps). I have had good luck using a 3rd party camcorder app that allows you to set the bitrate.

All cameras I have used have had long skips with recording and playback.. this goes for Blur camcorder and MIUI Camera and AOSP Camera.
I just downloaded lgCameraPro and having it set at 720p at 6mbps has no skips at all, but at the next setting (8mbps) it skips.

I have found the same. Shouldn't be surprising since the Xoom has similar hardware and it records HD at 6 Mps. Don't know why they set it so high on the DX2.

I just noticed that I lost the option to take pictures while recording video from the back camera, but am still able to take pictures while recording video from the front camera. I noticed this after I flashed a few ROMs, but restoring from a nandroid backup or even flashing back to stock with Odin does not work fix the problem. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

If you turn stabilization on (anti shake) you lose the ability to take pics while recording video. You just have to turn anti shake off and then you should be good

Wow! That worked like a charm! Thanks for the tip; thanks has been given to you
Just took a few pictures with and without flash in the dark of a log fire, my music paused or stopped with each..
Is this normally? , can it be fixed, surely the CPU can handle both at once??

Thats normal. All phones do this. Imagine recording a video and listening music... lol

It's because of the shutter sound. GS3 has it on by default and can't be disabled due to laws in some countries. Unless you root of course.. or use alternative camera app with no shutter sound.
I have a 2.0.6 OTA DNA and when ever using YouTube I get some pretty bad stutter iv turned on 2d gpu rendering and it helped some what. Is it just the app it has updated recently? If I download the video with tubemate in 1080p it runs fine so I'm starting to think it's just what ever renderer the YouTube app uses.

I've had the same issue with audio being fine but video does lag. I've also had it take forever to start the video and I have a 30mb/s internet

i wonder if its something i have disabled (frozen) that's causing it. Have you guys frozen anything or have you left all sense stuff intact?
EDIT: got a call and used speaker phone after that it's butter smooth hmm lol.

By default there is no way to "record it slow" but there is actually no difference.
Slow mo cameras, the real ones. Simply shoot at a high framerate (60,120,240, 1000s etc) and then they change the frame rate to 24 or something when they save. The phone wont change the frame rate when it saves so you'll have to do that yourself.
If you want to "record at slow mo" in which, I assume you mean get a video that will play back in slow motion by default, You will need to edit the footage in something like After Effects and set the frame rate to something lower, like 24 or 30.
So really what you want is high frame rate video, saved with a lower frame rate, which by default the camera does not have, sorry.
What frame rate is the gs4 slow motion feature?
