Hi,
I tried to install vlingo again on my phone but I get a message saying:
" Thank you for your interest in Vlingo. We detected that you are running a version of Android 1.x on your device.
Unfortunately, Vlingo for Android is currently only available for Android phones with OS 2.0 or above"
????????????
I had it installed before so I don't know what's going on. It works if I restore it from Titanium backup, but I wonder if this also has anything to do with my unresolved black screen issue (or the other way around).
I even tried removing my google account but I get the same msg.
Any ideas????
Thanks,

Done that before, but didn't change anything.
Just in case I did it again but it still gives me that message.
I think we might be onto something here that might solve my other problem (if we can solve this one first...)

The one in the sig. NRG Blue+tweaks Aug 6th
I wonder if I screwed something up during my various flashes back and forth to stock and this...
As a noob the only thing I can think of is doing it all again and trying Vlingo between each step to see where the problem is.
That is unless there is a more efficient way to test the whole system.
Would any info I can pull out of the hone help????
Thanks,
Just another noob question....
When I go back to stock RUU, do I need to go all the way to GB or ICS is enough?
going back to ics is enough, when you you go to about phone to check the android version what does it say?

Could this be just a Vlingo glitch?
maybe.. and has it worked on a different rom? maybe its an issue with the rom your using also...
I don't think so because I had it on it before...
I'll go back to stock ruu and try it there
it installed it on this one before. Funny thing is it works if I restore it from a backup.
Anyway I went back to stock and I get the same msg there so it must be the app.
Bummer I thought there was something I could check on the phone itself...

Girlfriends Fascinate just decided to randomly stop doing anything except showing lights on soft keys after rooting and lag fix. Decided if I've got to restore should try this. First flash I got stuck at a similar issue after VZW logo. Wiped data and cache and was able to boot but entered in to FC hell. Working on flashing back to stock Odin posted in other thread as we speak.
Update: realized I had only wiped data and not cache as well. after doing that was able to flash back to stock, trying this once more.
Update 2: No go, still FCing like crazy. Flashing back to stock.

I had the same issue. Install stock and then Angels. Wipe cache only and it should work. If you cant activate Google do a reset in settings and all is fine.
I'm sorry, but that's exactly what I experienced rooting and running the lag fix on a Vibrant. There is something flawed with the lag fix. I don't know what it is, but this is the 4th experience I've read about that's the exact same as mine.
Could Samsung change the file system with an OTA update? Is that even possible?

Have you tried ##786# and click on factory default reset but you have to know your msl #. Hoping that it restores back to stock version.
did you know what you'v just sayd?
firmware cannot reset itself to the basic if upgraded it factory reset cannot be
helpfull here...try'd it 3 times and guess waht?
OK i'v done it flashed the phone back to MR3 with RSDLITE i almost peed in
my pants when the phone started and stuck'd on the "NOW" after the reboot.
the phone flash'd but again having "wifi error"
but the most odd thingy is when activating the phone with the Sprint zone
app the phone i was able to use wifi and after activating it the phone rebooted
its self and the wifi issue came...its something to do with this ****ty app.
If Sprint Zone is the problem then you can remove it.
I recommend you flash back to CM5, then you can install Alien ROM which does not include that bloatware. You can install it either by unlocking and using CWM Recovery or by following the instructions to setup the bootstrap recovery. Either will do the trick and you'd be happy with the result. Just my 2 cents.
i want to stay with the stock rom a little while
which carrier are you using?
and how i remove this ridiculous app?

People have told you this several times bro, you have to be ROOTED to remove any bloatware (stock apps). rooting your phone gives you administrator rights.
Root your phone, download esfile explorer, go to settings in esfileexplorer and click on the root settings, and mount settings, make sure both boxes are checked. Now go to where the file is located and long press the file and select delete. If you need to reinstall it later for some reason there are a ton of downloads for it around, so no real need to back it up. I keep a copy on my SD card all the time.
Good Luck
-DJ
the strange thingy is that after flashing the phone want's to be activated first
the wifi works but after activating it the wifi wont respond anymore
if i dont use Sprint's network at all why the phone needs to be registered?
thats sooo oddddddd!

You realize you are not at the stock ROM? You are using MR3, which was a testing build and never released OTA or included stock with the phone. Thats why Yay4Juggs quickly replaced it with the final CM5 build once it was available.
i used the 1FF-sunfire-user-2.3.4-4.5.1A-1_SUN-154_5-CM-release-keys-signed-Sprint-US.sbf.gz right after i saw that i had wifi error.
i flash'd it 3 times but no luck at all.
thought to roll back to the stock MR1 but i dont see it anyware with this
stock (MR1) i havent got any problems at all i upgraded to MR5 via the OTA
and having troubles since than.
the file i just mentiond is from Yay4Juggs thread.

Hi to all,
Like I wrote on the title I would like to know if is possible to go back to stock phone from a rooted phone.
I'm having problems with my phone that is rooted and has Hydrogen ROM...Phone crashes, Skype closes in automatic way, Viber blockes the phone, I've asked many times but with no good answer.
I was thinking maybe it was because I made a format of the cache and all the rest that you find on the recovery, maybe I've canceled something needed, so I wanted to go back to the stock version and start a new root, is it possible? would it be like nothing happend?
Thanks
Yes. Also, you should've posted in the Q and A section. Cheers!

Yea, you can go to www.sammobile.com and download a stock firmware and then flash through odin if you want to go back to stock.
But I would recommend a different rom before you do that. Do a full wipe and try rr or rootbox with a full wipe to see if that fixes any issues.
The global update for the Rezound is failing installation for me.
The update has been downloaded seven times OTA and has failed installation every time on my phone.
My phone's current version is:
Android version: 4.0.3
HTC Sense version: 3.6
Software number: 3.14.605.13 710RD
Baseband version: 1.22.10.042lr, 1.22.10.0424r
The downloaded OTA version: ADR6425LVW_4.05.605.14-3.14.605.13
It successfully downloads the file, reboots into "Android system recovery", and displays the following error...
RA Revamped...
Build : RA-VIGOR-v3.16-getitnowmarketing
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
wrong taskid 221384E:Error in /cache/fumo/OTAPkg.zip
(Status 1)
Installation aborted.
The phone's bootloader is relocked and "S-OFF".
I've also deleted the OTAPkg.zip file from /cache/fumo, and the "fumo" directory itself, and re-downloaded the OTAPkg.zip file but it still failed installation.
The OTAPkg.zip file is 217,141,266 bytes in size.
The resetting of my phone and getting it hung in the Android System Recovery every few hours is getting annoying.
Anybody have any ideas on how to get this fixed and the Global update successfully installed?
Thanks,
Dan

Thanks for the info. I had forgotten that I had previously flashed the amon-ra recovery. As suggested, I flashed the rezound stock recovery and the darn OTA update still wouldn't flash. The phone gave me a similar error message as before. I then flashed the entire 3.14.605.12 OTA release just to get a known stable release. The phone boots and reports that an OTA is available (to go from 3.14.605.12 to 3.14.605.13), but then times out while trying to download the firmware and gives the following error: "SERVICE UNAVAILABLE Check for Software Update under Settings when service is available". The Status reports Download Failed, Code 503. It's late, I'm giving up for the night.

I posted instructions for how to flash firmware.zip while s-on in the other global thread
You will need firmware.zip (linked to in that thread), a nandroid backup, your HTC unlock code, and possibly a coy of the stock HTC recovery.

Brenuga, thanks for the instructions. If I'm S-on, locked and running stock recovery and the global leak and wanted to end up in the same configuration but with the new firmware, would I just fastboot erase cache and then fastboot flash zip firmware.zip?

You also have to do fastboot oem rebootRUU before you can flash firmware.zip, and remember to flash it again after it errors out the first time.
You may lose your current boot.img so have it ready to flash after updating firmware or else you will bootloop.

i don't want to wipe my phone just for a stupid update. i'm not convinced that i even need an update. how can i stop it from updating or doing this?

If you don't want the update, just download titanium backup, find the apps called OTAUpdater and 'freeze' the apps to keep them from running. There's two ota apps, one from HTC and one from vzw
Holo locker is an alternative lock screen widget. Just install it and set lock screen security method to 'none'.

Is there another way to freeze them? I'm also not finding any app in the free version of Titanium that has OTAUpdater anywhere in the name. You can't freeze from the free version, though, and the Pro version is $6.58 in the store.

Yes, go to settings, manage apps. You still have to find app named otaupdater. In manage apps, you can 'disable' apps to keep them from running. Its the same thing as freezing.

Actually, I apologize for not just buying pro. For what these people do for us, $6.58 isn't too much too ask. I went ahead and bought it. I still am not seeing the otaupdater at all, though.

Yes, that's the one. Any other apps that say update or report are good to freeze, too. Any HTC or vzw apps you don't use. Vzw SSO you need if you use visual voicemail or my Verizon app.

Hey guys,
So I decided to flash the newest TrickDroid ROM (ver 11.0, I believe), and for whatever reason, my phone is telling me it isn't rooted anymore. I made a backup of all my data using Titanium, but I don't believe I made a Nandroid backup. SuperUser is saying that is needs to update the su binary, but I get an error when I try to update. Titanium can't do anything because it doesn't have root access.
I have VERY limited knowledge about this stuff and I really am not sure what to do. Please help! And thank you!

Go to the download section and choose the third option which is the link to flashable zips on his website. Go ahead and download the latest version, I believe it's 1.65 at the moment. Then just flash it in recovery, no need to wipe your data or anything.
See if that helps, should restore your root.

Thanks! Another problem (and this might require a new topic), it seems like every time I try to uninstall apps via tibu, when I restart my phone ALL of those apps come back. Most of them are HTC apps, but some aren't. I've uninstalled them 4 times now and they KEEP COMING BACK. It's very odd.
Also, I received an error (also in tibu) mentioning my Device ID had changed? I had it change it back, but perhaps this is related to the issue?

The only info I could find was the possibility that I might need to change my kernel. Which would be terra nova for me, as I'm upgrading from a previous version of Trickdroid. Maybe you were able to find something else?
