Camera 4.2 video storage?? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

File this under Stupid Questions. But i've been using the 4.2 camera (with photosphere) since it was released and only just wanted to shoot video with it. I go about shooting a 9 minute clip and can't for the life of me find out where the video was stored. Is there a bug with this cam and videos? Or am i just missing the storage location completely? No clues in the settings of the camera. I'm at a loss as to where my video went. Could someone enlighten me?

/sdcard/dcim/camera but i dont think video is working. at least it doesnt for me. only get a file when shooting 1080 but it is messed up. 720 and 480 wont even save a file for me.

Guys, this is a known bug. 4.2 video cam does not work. A quick search would have gave you this answer.

Need advice on odex files

If anyone can help me with this question I would greatly appreciate it. I am trying to figure out if I can install an odexed apk (blurCamera) into a deodexed rom (eclipse 1.1). The reason for this is because the only camera app that records video without freezing and lag is the stock blurCamera.apk from 2.3.4, but only the odexed version. So if I can install this apk into eclipse what permissions do I have to set for the odex file? Or if u know of a camera app that actually works that would be great too. Any help would be great. I have a 9 month old son that I want to take video of, but stock 2.3.4 just doesn't function near as good as eclipse, even with supercharger and speedy installed.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Have you tried the apk from the stock, deodexed zip put up by peperm1nt? It should work but it won't display the thumbnail preview at the lower right if you're using the aosp gallery.

Nope I didn't even see that one. I'll give it a shot though and see how that works. Thanks!
I have found that HD recording seems to always be jumpy for me.
using the DVD or VGA settings allow for smoother recordings
Well what us the point in having a phone that claims it can record in 720p hd when u have to set it to record in standard def just to get a decent quality video? If I knew how to adjust the bitrate it records in I think I could fix it, but that us way above me. I read in another post that the bitrate is too high.... Just an idea if anyone with some expertise on this wants to help me I will be glad to do anything I can. I do know some coding stuff, but I'm still a noob
I get no issues on 720p recordings with the stock camera. I get some tearing on playback on the phone periodically but when played back on a pc, etc it looks great.

Stock/Debloated/Root 2.11.605.9 camera issue?

Hello all,
I recently loaded a debloated rom (found here on the website) and noticed that when I video chat, I cannot switch to my rear camera.
Did they take away that option?
Or could it be caused by that FCC "fix" that was posted when everyone was trying to fix the video chat from being sideways?
can anyone tell me if their camera, when using gtalk has the option to switch to the rear camera?
Did u find your answer? I haven't used gtalk but both cameras work fine on other programs I use..

Background Video Recording App?

I can't seem to find an app that records video in the background on my phone. I am running Task650 and Ktoonsez's AOKP build 6.8.12. I have tried Secret Video Record, Mobile Hidden Camera, Hidden Camera Spy Camera Free, and a couple others. These don't record video in the background correctly. The videos come out scrambled (with green lines usually). You can tell when the camera is being moved but you can't tell what is being recorded at all. Does anyone know how to fix the problem or of an app that works?
That ACLU secret recording app might work. Don't know if it saves video locally or on their servers though.

I am having the same problem. The video won't even play for me. Everything else works, just the background process causes it to screw up.

That's because Android does not allow recording video without showing preview (SurfaceView) to the user. When you hide preview and Android detects it - preview surface will be destroyed. Furthermore then surface is not longer valid - MediaRecorder (which records video) will crash.
All those apps try to overcome this restriction in different ways.
I've also tried to do it and published app: Hidden Video Camera.
Google Play link: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lofatsoftware.hvc
Application website: http://lofatsoftware.com/hidden-video-camera/
I've tested on bunch of different devices and it worked like a charm. You can try it for free and check if it works on your device.

[Q] Poor video capturing quality

Pfff i've been having issues since i bought the phone lol...
okay this is totally driving me crazy, i take much video's etc. with my phone but thats impossible when i got poor quality
the problem is that its locked to MMS quality and there is No other option available in the video quality in the camera app
also in 3rd party camera apps i have this same problem.
i have flashed the fix for 8MP camera and thats working great, along with 360 panorama.
any fixes for this? anyone having this issue also?
thanks in advance,
-ozi
Weird, few days ago I was recording full hd videos. If every camera app reports that you can record only low quality movies then something must be broken under the hood. You can start off with clearing Camera cache.
The best way is to recall since when can't you switch to bigger video resolutions.
Dunno, this happened after i flashed the 8MP fix (showed up 6mp), then i flashed a new Rom, (project speed) and it didnt go away :d
Sentapp?m my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
Edit: seems like 3rd party apps can show 1080p but the problem is the sense camera app -.-
Can someone gimme the proper untouched camera app?
8MP Fix? Y'all idiots, those 3rd party camera apps shows only upto 6 MP By default cause it's their Bug, I use to used PerfectlyClear Camera app, had same issue I reported it and they fixed it.

What the hell are you talking? I'm using Perfectly Clear as well and latest versions shows I can use 5.1 MP.
3rd party camera apps can show up to 6 MP just because HTC made a bug. They messed up something in a system file... The explanation for this can be found in the same thread where the fix is. With a broken file, camera apps can't get all handled picture resolutions.

well that doesnt matter, i got this bug before i flashed the fix
its a htc bug, no need for flaming... also the htc camera app is not really related to the camera config thingy (as i read in the 8mp fix topic)
the problem is that i can ONLY record MMS in the stock htc app but 3rd party camera apps can record 1080p HD and also save them in 1080p HD
this cant be a hardware failure, nothing actually happened to the Phone, i was making 1080p videos all the time... atleast before it got messed up
after that i flashed the fix
Hi guys, any update about the video capture issue ?
I am facing the same problem since I've installed camera with photosphere (downloaded from Venom Hub). The only resolution possible is MMS(176 x 144) !
I guess that it has nothing to do with the 8MP fix as I did not flash it.
Hi,
The resolution problem can be fixed by flashig the "OTA 2.0.2 - 2.0.3 - dev-host" update.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37300331&postcount=4
The three video options Full HD (1920 x 1080), HD (1280 x 720) and MMS (176 x144) are back !!!

That's one of the solutions indeed, but I quit using viperx+, their tweaks cause instability and lag.
Any solution for a non viperx+ one?

Timeshift Video?

Alright so I got my Z2 yesterday and I was eager to try Timeshift Video but I can't get the hang of it. I record a video and it saves it as 120fps in Album and then that's it. I can't seem to find the option to selectively slow down parts of the video in edit mode before saving it. Can anyone help me? I'm most probably missing something here. :/

It has to show up the "slow-down interface" right after you took the video.
That's weird, I don't get that at all, it just skips to being able to record a new one..
Any idea why?
Edit: fixed it, I had disabled movie creator app and that's where it was. Working now
