I still have a sgs2 running on 2.3.3 can anyone help me to update it to 4.0.4 or even cm10.1?
Why open another thread? If you want to update, you're definitly not the first one who tries this. Doesn't this make you think there maybe are other people who've asked this or even descriped this in other threads? Search and read, that's the best thing you can do.

I'm aware that there are root methods of getting this on your phone, but there are a lot of people who do not desire to root. If you have any version of a stock rom that has voice and video chat in google talk please specify which version you are running on.
My dad has it and he is on 2.3.3 baseband version xxkg1 and kernel version xwkg1
This confused me as I thought it came with 2.3.4, meanwhile I am on 2.3.5 and I don't have it.

Why didnt you just do a google search for this app. U will find a xda thread that has the apk available for download.
Google is your friend..
spot the noob??
original android development? close thread please mods..
Maybe it needs to be moved then... I'm not sure why people here are so rude sometimes. I figured that it should go here because people are always asking this question when intratech releases a new official firmware. So I put it here, that way people see it.
And I did google it... I found root only methods of course since it is a system file. This is for people who DO NOT want to root. Not sure how that message wasn't conveyed.

I rest my case, and close this thread.
Hiya guys,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 that I got this week. Im finding the phone is brilliant to use at the moment and works very well. It's alot better for me to use this device that it was when I had my previous phone which was an iPhone (don't shoot me)...
Anyway here we are. I've had the phone 4 days and i'm wanting to root it. The main reason for this is that I hate bloatwear. Samsung have filled it with all their own specific software that they find useful and I don't want that. All I want is a lovely OS with no Samsung to worry about etc.
Right a little about what i'm wanting. Ok so the phone is a Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100. The andoid version is 2.3.4, the Baseband is I9100XXKI1 and the Build is GINGERBREAD.
Im basically wanting to install the exact same version of Gingerbread but without all the bloatwear. Is this possible? Im completely new to this so any guides and tutorials that you can point me to would be brilliant. Is there anything I should be wary of when rooting my phone etc.
I have been looking around on the net and from what I can see Cyanogen M7 seems to be the same version as what im on now other than you don't get the touchwiz.
Any help would be brilliant on where to start.
If there are any questions then please ask.
Regards,
Just freeze the bloat yourself, rather than trying to find a ROM with it removed.
Root via zergRush, freeze bloat with one of the apps on the market.
However, if you do go down the CM7 route, just follow the instructions on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1176411
Other things to look out for. If any instructions are telling you to make a nandroid backup, do it, and back up your efs folder. You can use Hellcat's kTool for that.
Ok thanks for your post. So i guess my next question is What is Rooting and what does it actually do to your phone?
Do I need to root my phone in order to install new Roms??
Also the link to the M7 *Nightly* release you gave me. Is that stable? I read on their forums that I should only look at installing their *Stable* release and be wary of their *Nightly* release as its still buggy.
Since your first post said you were wanting to root, I kinda thought you'd know why. Bad assumption on my part, I know.
Anyway, before you flood the place with more questions, have a read for a while.

[FAQ] GT-i9100 Galaxy S II FAQ thread
Also, there is no so called "stable" CM7 build for the Samsung Galaxy S II.
Hi again.
Ok so I've had a read through the links provided to me and Im positive i want to root my device so that i can install new roms and unlock the phone and such. So next then can someone suggest what method i should do next. could someone also tell me what cf-root and clockworkmod is? Im confused as to what these are.
Regards
CF will give you root and clockwork, you can then reboot into clockwork and flash roms. Just make sure you read everything thoroughly and be sure to avoid the repartition option in odin.

Thanks but could you explain to me what they both do? Im assuming that its better to use cf-root as it allows you to install roms also...
Love spoon feeding eh?

Hey everyone! So I'm very familiar with Android (running it, hacking it, etc.) but I don't know much about the Vibrant, and from the research I've done it seems kind of hacky...well really hacky. Anyways I just have a few questions before I start messing around with my girlfriend's phone; I'm just gonna list them below to make it easier. Any help would be appreciated very much of course! Thanks in advance!
1. What is going on with the model numbers/names for this phone?
Okay, so my girlfriend has a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4G (from what I found out, I believe the model number is T959V). This is still considered a "Vibrant" right? Also, will ROMs, recoveries, etc. labeled for the "T959" also work with her phone? (Since it is technically T959V)
2. Are there any Jelly Bean ROMs without the emergency calling issue?
I've been reading around about the different Jelly Bean ROMs available for the Vibrant, and can't find a general consensus about which, if any, do not have the emergency calling bug. Besides for that bug, it seems like Jelly Bean has been running pretty smoothly on the Vibrant. So is there a ROM without this bug, and what exact problem does the bug cause?
3. What are the basic steps from upgrading from Froyo to Jelly Bean?
I know this question seems more stupid than the rest, but after reading several guides, ROM installation instructions, and wikis, all of the instructions seem to say something different. I just want to know the VITAL things that I have to flash (radios, bootloaders, kernels, etc.) before I can just boot into recovery and flash a Jelly Bean ROM zip and have it boot up.
Like I said before, I hope I don't seem too needy or ignorant by posting this! I truly have done my research on this phone already, but a few things are still very unclear to me. I just want to be safe before I try to do anything to it! Also for the sake of everyone else, I wanted to avoid having to post "PLZ HELP I BROK MY FONE!1!!" in the future. So if anyone can help me out at all, or if anyone has some general tips, I would appreciate it a lot! Thanks!
P.S. I know there are quite a few guides out there, but none of the ones I could find were updated anytime recently. And that's what brings me here!
To answer your first question. T959V and T959 are not the same thing.
Roms are not interchangeable.
The T959V does have its own section here on XDA.

Thank you very much. A mod can move this to the SGS 4G section so it's not taking up space here.
So I have a galaxy S
Model number: SGH-T959
Firmware Version: 2.1-update1
Baseband Version: T959UVJI6
Kernel version: 2.3.29
Build Number ECLAIR.UVJI6
What I want to do is update this phone to the most recent Jelly Bean. I dont want spend 600 on a new phone when all I want is the phone be updated. Iv tried searching forums that give me step by step but all the Firmware versions are more updated and doesn't work for my phone. I actually got stuck with downloading Kies Mini and trying to update my phone but the software keeps telling me that I wont allow it ....... Can someone please help me? Im willing to learn and listen.
Tell me the first step and what needs to be downloaded. Please keep in mind I have a MacBook Pro if that matters. Thank you so much in advance.
look forward to the feed backs
Hi. You seem to be new at this (as me). Well first of all, this forum is not for your phone, this is for SGH-T959v, not Vibrant. Then, really youve searched?, because I think it was not enough. Start finding the correct phone forum, then use the search bar. Start searching how to flash a phone, then see if theres a Jelly Bean ROM for your phone, if you find it, flash it . Its not hard to do, but you have to read, a lot!, because one simple mistake can kill your phone, but you dont have to be worried if you read enough .
Use this link in your search, it will help you a lot

Good luck man!
Here is the link to the correct forum for your vibrant.

Ill trade you this sgs 4g for your vibrant any day lol....the vibrant was my original but i broke it and had to settle for this thing.
Have fun with it and enjoy it.....the potential is limitless with the vibrant.
Moved to Vibrant Q&A.
@OP Make sure you read a bit more or your next thread will be, "Help, I think I bricked my phone"
I know this is the first time posting here, but I'm no noob. I've been hacking my phones for over 15 years and using this site since I got a smartphone, just never needed to ask any questions because I always found the answer. I can't seem to find this answer anywhere so I have to ask.
So my question is, I just received a notice from Sprint of a Samsung Software update for my SH-D710 and was wondering if anyone knows what it is? My phone is rooted running
Android version 4.1.2
Kernel Version 3.0.31-1014481
and software GB27
If this is to upgrade to 4.2.2 and if so can you guys give me your opinions on the best rom to use for that.
Thanks again for all you guys do!
