gtalk connection unstable. - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Hello guys,
Im facing some issue regarding data connection.
Almost all the time my gtalk keeps droping connection and i need to login over and over again. Messages notifications arrives only after a re-login.
I dont really know if its is a problem with google talk or my data connection. Other services seems to be normal.
I was reading something about fast dormancy service, but i dont know if its enabled or not, and i also dont know how to disable it.... In i9100 forum, there is a dialpad code (*#9900#) that doesnt work here.
Im running CM10.1 rom.
Any help is appreciated!... thanks in advance!

Look for app in play store. Literally called fast dormancy. Download, install, profit.

[Q] Can´t download or update from market when on home wifi

Hello everyone !
I have this problem, when i´m on my home wifi i can´t download or update apps from google play altough i get the notifications about available updates.
When i click download or update is starts to downloading but it never shows percentage or any progress just the blue bar moving.
BUT on other networks it works just fine, only my home wifi is a problem (even though it worked well about two weeks ago) . I never use 3G or 4G.
I think it has something to do with my router but its just weird.
Do you guys have some suggestions what could i do ?

Hi
i also experience that.. but i think it's just a bug.
what i do is i turn off wifi and turn it on again.. redownload the app
i hope this helps
I also have this bug.. this started to happen after i updated camera firmware ( i know it doesn't have anything to do with it,but oh well)
I have tried to reproduce the bug and found that :
-if your wifi is off and you activate your mobile data, then disable it,when you activate wifi it will connect, but internet will work when he wants...only solution is reboot the phone

You can just search in google and download it's just an .apk, so there's no need for any "compatibility" things..
I hope this helps

Or rip it from a rom or find it on the stock apps posts or Hyper Galaxy add on post .

[Q] Apps won't download when started from playstore website

Hi all,
I have googled, searched and even called Google themselves but I cannot start a download from my desktop browser and have it install on my phone.
Phone does nothing at all, sits there pretending I haven't asked it to do anything.
The app will appear in My Apps in the play store and I can download and install from the device directly.
I've followed the guidelines on Google website, signing out of talk etc but still no luck.
I did manage to make it work by going back to stock, then flashing SuperNexus but within four days it's broken again.
Does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this and how to resolve it?
Try using a different Google account to setup the phone then sign in on the Web

Remove the Google account from the phone, reboot and log in again.
Thanks for the tips but still no joy.
Google refuse to help because I'm rooted!
So when you open play store, it doesn't start automatically?

I sometimes have the same problem. Toggling WiFi or data off then back on seems to do the trick usually.

Nope, sits there doing nothing as if I haven't touched a thing.
The Badger, that somehow managed to sort it! I can't believe such a simple toggle can fix a problem that I've been struggling to sort for a week!
You have my sincerest thanks!!
You're welcome. Glad it helped.

Wakelock woes

Alright, I've tried several remedies none have yet to fix my problem.
First off, does anyone else have a huge Wakelock with gtalk.async.androidendpoint? I'm finding this info out using better battery stats.
Here's my info :
Hboot 2.27 (global Leak)
S off
Rom newts one xxx 6.0.2 (happens on all roms)
Ok, so to rule out the obvious, I've tried freezing gtalk, then stopping Google locating services.
I've also tried this with and without restoring apps/data after flashing a rom.
When doing so, I always do a full wipe.
I've read up on it, some people said it had to do with the proxy on apn settings, so I made a new apn with the same info, data came in, but didn't fix my Wakelock.
Is this a known problem? I see many posts in other forums about it, but it seems its not happening to everyone.
Any help would be appreciated

There seems to be a few people with this wakelock on the internet and no real consensus on what the cause or fix is.
What I can tell you however is my girlfriend's Nexus 4 had the same wakelock issue and I realised it was because her work's Wifi network's network filter was stopping Google services from successfully syncing and it was just trying again and again and again causing the battery to drain. I told her to stop using that wifi network and the next day I checked and the gtalk.async wakelock was gone.

Hmm that might be it, I am using wifi provided by the college (I live on campus) its super fast, but I know some ports are blocked because Google Now won't work on it.
However, I tried disabling all syncing services and no dice. It's like Google just keeps trying even when it's not supposed to sync

can you freeze google services apk and see if that helps. if gtalk is blocked from making a connection then it could be the wake lock retrying to many times.

So far so good, freezing Google services framework did the trick, at the cost of Gmail and play store. But that's fine I'll just defrost when I need it.

No problem. I've opened an Issue on the Android Google Code page to see if it can be brought to attention. Doubt it but worth a shot I suppose!

yep, so the service in google framework is calling out to make sure gtalk is connected. when your school block the connection it puts a pause on it and will request again when any type of connection change is detected. i cant remember but have you tried signing out of gtalk when not using it?

I don't use gtalk, so it's just frozen. But that by itself doesn't resolve my problem, strange lol. But yeah freezing Google services framework does.

it auto signs into your gmail. go to the app and sign out. then freeze it. should stop the framework request
I believe the GTALK_ASYNC process handles a lot more than just GTALK, a lot of Google Services are reliant on it so freezing it will cause a lot of collateral damage to Google apps and other apps that leverage services like C2DM.

it syncs for all gapps. what i was trying to do is see if you can just get that part of the sync portion off.
OP can you try this. navigate to system/apps and rename the gtalk apk to .bak reboot the phone to recovery, wipe dalvik and reboot. let it boot like normal and see if you have the wake lock without having to freeze googles framework.
this should stop the phone from ever knowing gtalk was installed and remove the wake lock problem.

oh, if gtalk is not on the phone. just do the dalvik wipe and reboot.
it would be the same thing as i instructed above just you would have the apk backed up.

Use faster fix if you want to configure WiFi region
doesnt faster fix just allow to set a custom NTP server for AGPS?

It just sets the region pool, which I'm guessing is what he was possibly trying to do, back in the day it was how you did it, by editing GPS configuration.xml
ok thx for the replies, ya probably if the phone works everything is fine

Mic Issues

Hi,
I have an issue with my mic.
When I try to make a call, the person I call do not hear me.
If I use a "free call app", something like "Viber", or even on a Facebook Call. People do not hear anything.
So i thought that my mic not work anymore.
But, If I do a Google voice search. It does work fine.
If I send a voice message on FB, it works.
So, Is something about with the calls.
Any ideas on how to fix it?
Are you running a custom rom? There is a known issue with the M7 and the recent Gplay services update that makes the mic muted on most phone apps. This could have bled to the DNA as it does have similar hardware.
This is something on google's end. I disabled "check-in" service via root and "disable services" app to get sound back. Be sure to clear caches afterwards.

As far as I know.. its not a custom rom..
But the curious thing here is that about a week ago, it was working pretty good.
But I would give it a try on what you said.
Lets see what happens..
btw, Thanks for your quick reply. :good:

Actually, YES!
Thanks bro...
At first, I had no idea on what you were saying, to be honest.
But in the end, I understood your idea.
Also, At first I was doing wrong.
I was working on another service that wasn't the right one.
Here is what I did:
I Downloaded the app:
Disable Service
Then I go to the "Google Play Services"
Code:
i.imgur.com/ceThPB6.png
And then Disable the "CheckInService"...
Code:
i.imgur.com/rLJYSiC.png
But my question here is... Doing this, does not affect anything on my phone?
And if it does, what? D;
But, anyways, thanks, doing that, made my mic functional again.
