Organizing Droid Razrs Roms - Motorola Droid RAZR

Is there anyway WE can organize the Roms listed in the Development Section. I find it very confusing on which Roms are out/released, which versions they are (CDMA / GSM) and which version of Android they run on. To my knowledge, there is not even a Sticky posted for Roms that are released - or maybe I'm just not seeing it.
THanks, EHB
I can even pitch in, in making this happen if needed

Welcome to what I think the most confusing phone forum ever. There is the 910, 912, Maxx, GSM, CDMA and god knows what more all rolled into one forum. Every time I open this forum to get somewhere, I read a couple of brick posts and this scares me. First, Verizon has made it difficult it seems and second, a lack of organization on this forum scares me away from rooting and installing a custom rom.

Sprint And Verizon cooked roms?

Hey guys, before I start I'd like to make it known I've searched high and low and couldn't seem to find a clear answer. so hopefully I can find some answer for not only myself, but a few other members here as well. I have a few friends with the sprint mogul and my girlfriend just got the verizon 8700. I'm always telling them about these cooked roms and that's mainly the reason they ran out and got smart phones. there's only one problem. I can't seem to find any cooked roms for the sprint and verizon phones. I've learned from the hermes forums...that even though its branded different...the roms should still work the same on either one. So i'm guessing its the exact same way. keeping that in mind, I should be able to flash any of the roms here...like the DC rom. Am I correct? will it work? If so, my next question is, phone settings. I'm a gsm dude, so i'm not really familiar with any procedures you guys have to go through for your phone settings an internet settings. Are they any cab files available for sprint and verizon that I can install and have the phone up and running? Thanks for any and all help in advance guys.
can anyone help? or atlease point me in the right direction?
mine is built for sprint and my kitchen will have a vzw package.

thank you much for the response.
Unfortunately, most of the XDA-devs forum deals with mainly GSM phones with users based all over the world (it at least appears to me that US posters is almost a minority on this site).
CDMA devices (Sprint, VZ, Alltel, etc) are huge in the US, but not as popular over seas. In fact, when the Sprint Mogul (6800/titan) was released, XDA originally did not want to make a section for it, claiming that the phone would not be popular enough to discuss amongst other forum members. I joined a group of people who petitioned the moderators to add a section, and clearly they eventually did. However, CDMA devices are discussed at length over at a similiar forum, www.ppcgeeks.com
Personally, I think XDA is a larger and more knowledgable community, so its really a shame that more of the developments aren't happening here. There are a few really good devs that have made the move here (such as DCD, his work is fantastic), and more and more people are finding that they prefer the moderation of XDA over PPCgeeks, but the fact still remains that more development happens over there. For example the "official" kitchens for the CDMA phones are released over there. You'll find many more ROM options (some good, some bad) as well as tutorials and details of the flashing process.
I personally try to be actively involved in both forums. Its the only way to stay on top of the state of the art.

thanks for the reply dcd and Dishe. i'll be hanging tight for that verizon rom. i did go over to ppcgeeks...i dont really like over there too much. for some reason alot of things look a little less serious. i wasn't able to find any roms either. but i did see some good info on the device itself.

What's happening to this topic?

Hi all,
I can say that definitely something bad is happening to this part of SGS2 topic (original development). I log everyday, waiting for some ROMs to test, but there are none!
If you check the index thread, it was updated on 22 March (almost 2 months ago).
Also, since ICS was rolled out for SGS2, there are dozens of AOSP/AOKP ROMs in [Android development], but in [Original anroid development] there is only:
21-Mar-12----Batista70 FOXHOUND EDITION 0.3----Views: 1,400,000
I really hope that not all of the developers have moved to other devices or to AOSP/AOKP, but it looks like that's the case.
Anyone has any idea what's going on? Summer is still far away...
Well, just looking through the first page, I saw:
FoxHound ROM;
HyperDroid ROM;
Slim ROM;
Clean Blank ROM;
CheckROM
Not sure what your on about. If your not content with this sub-section, try the Android Development Section, plenty to flash there.
Chris.
The guy who started the "[INDEX]" threads in both the Original Development and the Development forums hasn't been updating his threads.
That doesn't mean development hasn't continued though.
It was nice of the guy to build index threads, but given he's not really updating them, it may end up causing more confusion like this, unfortunately.

There are only one or two sammy ICS ROMs. People are waiting since ICS rollout for checkrom ICS and others as well...
I'm not fun of AOSP so Android Development section is not an option for me.
Cheers!

have you even looked in there???
It isnt only aosp roms in there
first you got to understand the difference between android deveopment and orignal android development and you will understand why there is no big activity.
Well devs owe us no favours its up to them as to what and when they build a rom .
Usually find someone donates them a new model and they move on or they get sick and tired of the whiners and stupid repetitive questions and move on .
Solution for the OP big donation to a dev .
jje
As far I can understood there is a plenty to choose from... Now u can even dual boot 2 ICS rom-s so there is a lot of options. To develop originally something demands time so patience would be welcome...

Switched to the EVO, need a point in the right direction

So, ive made a big switch. I went from a Captivate with 2.3, to my EVO 3D. Im currently running on 2.3.4 and Hboot 1.49.
Im looking to root the dev so i can remove some of the onboard rogers crap. Stuff in the background is running when i don't want it to. And some of the games and junk on here, i just want to get rid of.
Im reading several threads, but none of them are specific enough. Can someone point me to the proper rooting thread for this build? I dont plan on using a ROM, this OS is stable as it is.
As well, can someone recommend me an Antivirus? Ive heard of people starting to use these, maybe someone can suggest me one.
Thanks in advance,
-Dan

Apparently you haven't read the important threads, otherwise you would have posted this in the right forum :')
Antivirus is overrated AFAIK, it's pretty much only an issue if you plan on installing unknown APKs or using third party app stores. I've been hacked once when I installed an unknown APK on my tablet, which resulted in a password reset of my Google account because my credentials were compromised and some prick attempted to log in to my account from Argentinia
I've looked at the other forum regulations and this was the one that came the closest to the subject. Then again, i also haven't been on the forum for about 6-9 months.
If someone can direct this thread to the proper section that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

this forum is for ROM development. Your thread is about a question you have. That means this thread should go into Q&A (I honestly feel sorry for doing this, the Q&A forum is a very dark place where you can easily lose your mind among the imbeciles)
Definitively off dev thread ;-)
Depending on your hboot version many subprocesses are related.
My advise is to precisely indentify tour default settings then you will easily find out your happiness to clean what you dont want.
Btw, in dev section there are severals cleaned stock roms.
Depending on what you are looking for and consequences (root needed, s off, ...), make tour choice and enjoy.
Personnaly my favorite for daily usage is the Mwakious 3d one, but official ics update is coming since this morning all around the world (do not know for Roget)
Jump and enjoy this really Nice and Effective toy.

Well, ill take a closer look around and see what may benefit me. As stated before, im on Hboot 1.49. Im used to rooting and customizing my Captivate, not exactly the same as the HTC, thats for sure.
moved to q&a as this is not development. if you did not develop anything then do not post in the development section

I like the anti-theft features of Lookout, but I prefer the other features (especially with regard to root features) of Avast. Right now though, I'm not running any.

[Q] AU KDDI ISW12HT Root Question

Okay, so I get to be a newb again :l
So, I've searched the forum previously and found very few threads containing information directly related to the Japanese version of the HTC EVO 3D, which is the ISW12HT. The few threads I had found, weren't particularly helpful.
My question is this - I want to root, but I'm curious if I can just use any ROM/Kernal without it losing functionality. From what I understand, the Japanese Service Providers operate on a different frequency than the US, so, would I need to maintain my current radios? Does the root/rom process overwrite the radios in the first place, or does it leave them intact? (Or is this ROM-specific?) Or am I way off track in my understanding of how these things work...?
I'm tired of waiting for ICS to flow over, and quite frankly am too excited for the features Jellybean has to offer, to wait any longer
Also side note/question about the forum itself: I did most my searching on my Xoom/Evo3D before, but for some reason when I'm on my computer, I cannot find the search threads function anywhere. :l Am I just blind? Where is it?
Roms that are based on sense usually do not have lost functionality, but aosp Roms do at this point (specifically 3d). Most Roms do not overwrite the radios.
As for the website, there is a general search box at the top, and a search this thread button near the top right. Sometimes the site takes down the search this thread function.

Thanks, the search button is there now, I didn't know they removed it from time to time. That must have been the case when I went to look for it.
Alright, time to get ICS

Rom Install

I want to try a new rom for my phone cause i got bored of CMD10 what rom do you guys recommend to me i want it to be stable and fast
There's hardly anyone reading this forum. They have moved on to other phones. But read the currently and recently active threads in the development forum to see what's available, and get clues as to what is good.

thanks i remember talking to you about this like a year ago and you recommended me ShoStock 3 is that rom good or there betters??
Also i read the cyanide thread and looks pretty good what do you think its better i want the opinion of a that has more knowledge in this than me
Do you want Touchwiz or AOSP? If you want touchwiz, then I would recommend either Cooked or SHOstock3, as either one of those is stable. I'm not familiar with AOSP having barely ever used it, so I can't make any suggestions there. Read the threads, as I suggested, and maybe post your questions in those threads.
