I'm running beans roms and no sd swap and the sd won't show up at all... It was running fine until I woke up from a nap and it was doing this. I'm going to try flashing cleanrom to see if that fixes it.
Mod please lock I figured out that it was a faulty sd card.

Whenever I reboot my phone or remount the sd card. Then, all the application gets vanished and i am left with grey icons in the "manage application" tab.Although,i could view pictures and videos present on my sd card.
When,i try to remove sd card, then a message appear on the screen after some time that"activity sd card & settings.......not working... force close or wait".
I have also checked sd card and even install the rom from fresh and nand restore. But none is working.
What to do now?
Please help me
Try some other rom, may be there is a bug in this one.
I am also experiencing that kind of problem, but first check if your sd card is full,
mine is a 16GB one but only 1.73 GB and media scanner is slow
I am planning to upgrade to 64GB Microsdxc's (Sandisk 's)
Using Stock Rom (2.3.3) with custom kernel(franco's) and rooted!!!
I have RC1 of CM7DX2 on my phone. I have USB Debugging enabled. When I switch the USB Connection mode from "Charging" to "Memory Card Access", all I can see is the internal memory card. My external never shows up. If I remove it from the phone and put it into my card reader, I can see it.
Is this an issue with CM7DX2? I didn't have this problem under Eclipse 2.1.
My card is a 32gb class 10 card.
Thanks!
UPDATE: Figures. As soon as I post this, I figure out the issue. Apparently, the SD card has some errors, so I'm going to copy everything off, reformat and see if that works. I'm beginning to wonder if the card is going bad. I had some errors before, and I ran a check disk on it. Maybe a reformat will fix everything.

I'm having the same issue let me know if that works.
Dear XDA'ers.
I've had an S2 for a while now and I've been running CM9 since early alpha. Recently I decided to buy an SD card (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005FY61EK/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00) so that I can use it to store my movies. After I got it, I realised that MoboPlayer or AirDroid couldn't detect the SD card and the only way I could put something on it was through a physical USB cable. Now, today I wanted to try something but I found out that my phone doesn't show the SD card at all anymore. I tried taking it out and putting it back in several times as well as flashing the latest CM9 nightly but nothing happened. The only apparent difference that I can see when I put the SD card in is that in the Storage section in Settings, under the SD card tab, I have an option "Mount SD Card" but when I press it, it says preparing SD card yet nothing happens.
Is the SD card fried or what's wrong with it?
I've had the SD card for less than a week so its hard to believe that it's dead already.
Have you got a micro SD card reader that you could use to see if the card is fried? Connect it to your computer, and if it shows up it isn't fried. Also check the format of the card to make sure it is in FAT32 format.
Chris.

Ahh, I know the problem now (I completely forgot about this).
I formated it to NTFS just before I stopped working since I assumed that it works the same way a USB does (but clearly, I was wrong).
I'll format it back and see what's what.
Have u tried going into settings/memory/left softkey/storage config and select the only options there is?
have you tried other system folders?
i had the same problem before, I found out my sd card mounted as a system folder called "emmc" I'm using resurrection remix rom 2.3
Yep just fixed mine today by downloading https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.qbanin.binder&hl=en if you are unsure of what to select just see the screenshots i followed this selections and it now works fine
Alright, I've fixed it.
Basically, I had formatted it to NTFS because otherwise it gave me some error about file (the file was around 4 gb's and it acted this way with anything over 3) being too big when I was trying to copy it onto the SD card. Now that someone said it has to be in FAT32, I formatted it back and now it works perfectly.
Thanks to everyone who helped me.
Hey guys, I'm gonna try to explain this in most detail. Yesterday spontaneously my External MicroSD card couldn't be detected by my phone(Vibrant SGH-T959). First I thought a simple reboot would work although it failed. Second I have tried unmounting the SD card, and putting it back in and also didn't work. I decided to switch from my JellyBean 4.1.1 ROM back to Schimera v2.2 ICS. I thought the rom was causing the problem, although the problem continued on ICS. I have tried turning my phone off, taking the SD card and all of those combinations and none of them worked. I tried turning on and off USB debugging mode which didn't fix the problem either. I tried using the Computer Management to see if it detected at least my SD card and it didn't. The only way my SD card was actually red when I used a MicroSD adapter. I formatted the card from there and tried all of the solutions again and nothing worked aswell. So now I know that the SD card is working fine but just none being detected by phone or through the USB cable. So I decided to go into my settings > storage to find that my internal storage is only 1.85GB, my model is the 16GB version and I checked previously before. As I scroll down I realize there is something called USB Storage right underneath it and it says 12.67GB which is supposed to be the amount for the Internal SD card. This part is why I'm horribly confused. Also underneath that there is the SD Card and it only displays one button which says Mount SD Card which is disabled when I put the SD card in or out. I tried the option on top for Erase SD Card and it didn't work either. I looked through quite a few threads on this forum trying the ways I mentioned in this thread and they didn't work. Any help is highly appreciated. Thank you
*NEW* I just installed DoubleTwist from the android Play market and when I went into settings and tapped on storage this is what came up: Internal (0.0GB) Memory Card (12.8GB) For one, my phone has 16GB internal storage, My memory card is only 8 GB. *NEW*
*NEW TEST* I tried putting my microSD card into my sister device and it worked on hers, I tried putting her SD card into my vibrant and it didn't read it either!*NEW TEST*
Your 1.85 is the part of your 16gb Vibrant that us partitioned for apps. The 12.67gb is your internal SD. And your other setting should be your external SD or emmc card.
When you say you can't see your external are you looking at external and it isn't showing anything with a file explorer? Try looking in your emmc folder. Have you tried another card?

Thanks for clearing that up for me, and I can't access my card in the file explorer either. I don't have an EMMC folder and I tried going into recovery to "mount emmc" but it just gave me an error. Also I did not try another card because I don't have one lying around.. Plus when I rebooted my phone in the notification menu it says Checking SD card for errors and then it disappears. There is no message once that one leaves.

Did u change anything? Kernel, Rom, Firmware version?
U can try to copy all data from sd card to PC, format it and then copy data back to sd card.
Maybe this will fix it. If not it seems to be a prob with sd card itself (Hardware)
CHEERS
yeah I had used many kernels ROMS .etc etc but reverted back everything to stock and unrooted
