I have been searching high and low for how to install ClockWorkMod on a Bell Galaxy S II i9100M and I have not had any success. It has the stock ICS firmware and it is rooted and unlocked...please help.

1. which root method did you use? Please provide links
2. To have a permanent CWM recovery, just flash a custom GT I9100 kernel
Swyped from my Galaxy SII
I used CWM.zip and SU-Busybox-Installer.zip. I don't want to flash another ROM until I get thus one backed up...I heard that CWM can back up the current ROM image.

Then just flash a custom kernel, Siyah, Dorimanx or Speedmod via the temporary CWM recovery
These kernels have permanent CWM recovery
After flashing, reboot your phone back to recovery
Perform a ROM backup in CWM recovery

Alternatively, you can flash this CWM 6.x via stock recovery, if you don't wish to flash a custom kernel: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840223

Just flash Siyah kernel 4.1.2 (download the zip format) via the temporary CWM recovery. It will give a permanent CWM recovery, and it's 100% compatible with your phone (GT I9100M).
Download Siyah kernel here: www.gokhanmoral.com/

1. You will not lose anything if you flash kernel. Flashing kernel will never delete data. Everything remains intact.
2. You will receive alerts when updates are available etc. And you can also flash them even before it becomes available for your region.
If you are still skeptical about flashing the custom kernel, and only want clockwork mod recovery, then, don't flash anything, you will be fine with a temporary CWM recovery which you already have

Siyah kernel for Galaxy S2, 4.1.2 (.zip format)

I see version 4.1.4 but not v4.1.2. What is the best one to use right now and should i be updating when new ones come out, which seems to be quite often?

Yeah, you're right. Download 4.1.4.
There is no need to be updating the kernel very often, except,
- You are facing issues with the present version
-or the update is a major release

So, another newbie question: what is the point of flashing *JUST* the kernel? Is it just to get the permanent CWM and do backup/restore of my full un-rooted ROM?
I realize that once I have the new kernel I can flash any ROM I want (as long as it's compatible), but if that's all I wanted to do, I can just install a temporary CWM right?
Finally, if I install the siyah 4.1.4 (latest), will anything be broken (ie. bluetooth, camera, etc)? If so, why would I do this?

1. Custom Kernel
- to have a CWM CWM recovery.
- better backup and restore process
- More customizable options
- bugs and battery hog fixes, thus better battery life.
- optimized performance
- flashing other Roms with breeze
If you ever wish to restore your original unrooted firmware, it's better to flash it via Odin.
2.
- If you flash Siyah kernel nothing will be broken.
- If you are on ICS 4.0.3 firmware, Siyah 3.5.2, if you are on 4.0.4, then flash Siyah 4.x.x
PS: the only way to show appreciation after being helped is by Clicking on the THANKS button.

I am on ICS 4.0.3 (i9100M) but why do I need to stick to the lower version of Siyah? Siyah 4.0.1 says, in the changelog, "supports Samsung 4.0.3/4.0.4 ".
If I wanted Siyah 4.1.4, you're saying I need to upgrade my S2 to 4.0.4 and THEN move to Siyah 4.1.4?
Thanks for your advice!!!

Don't upgrade to ICS 4.0.4!
I was saying, Siyah 3.x.x works much better than Siyah 4.x.x on ICS 4.0.3.
You can still flash 4.x.x to see for yourself, but I will advise you to have a copy of 3.5.2 incase it doesn't work that well for you.

My phone is rooted now and few friends here gave me suggestions of siyah and some...i want to know if I can directly flash the rom from stock recovery mode..i downloaded ROM manager, but it only has clockwork mode and cyanogen i guess.. can i do that using siya?
You need CWRecovery on your phone (sounds like you used a root method that didn't involve using a kernel with CWM if you only have stock recovery). Best way to get it is to flash a kernel that has it built in - Siyah, Dorimanx, etc, etc. There's a number of them; search the development sections of the board. Once you've got CWM on, you'll be able to flash any rom you want.

Siyah is a kernel, not a ROM. And no, you cannot flash a custom ROM from stock recovery. Search for rachmat3's rooting method and use that. Or flash the tar version of siyah or dorimanx via Odin.
ROM manager seems to have some issues with the S2. try to avoid using it as far as possible.
See which ROM you want to use. If it has the new Mali drivers use dorimanx 7.4 else use siyah 4.1.5

Siyah is a kernel developed by gokhanmoral. ROM on the other hand is also called firmware, you can flash them both in clockworkmod recovery, but cannot be done in stock recovery.
As for ROM manager, I've seen people brick their phone using it, so just stick to flashing clockworkmod recovery.

Don't use rom manager, unless you want an expensive brick.
And Rootbox with dorimax is a good combination you can check out

If you are using siyah kernel you can tweak the GPU steps and overclock your CPU using an app called ExTweaks. But note you are not going to get any serious performance boost, your machine tends to be what you have.

Siyah 1.9.1 says its ONLY tested on latest official 4.1.2 Samsung official mate and 4.2 is not supported. You are trying to install a 4.2.2 ROM so its just simply not compatable.Heres the link to Siyah.Have a quick read.Carefull with kernels man, they can kill your phone if you dont read properly.

Always read the changelog.
Ooh good point. I missed that it was 4.2 samsung rom. Only 4.1.2 samsung or 4.2.2 aosp

Any 4.2.2 aosp.
The last official samsung rom is 4.1.2 so no sources for anything not released.
There are no kernels for samsung 4.2.2
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Samsung didn't release the source code for 4.2.2 so no custom kernels could be made mate. Could mean they plan to jump to 4.3 though. You never know. .. would be nice.

Yes is rooted and I have already installed cwm
As you have Cwm I think the best thing you can do is download and flash a custom stock based rom like say alliance or biftor rom ect ect. They have many different lock screen's included in the rom and much much more to play and have fun with. But if you want to stick to stock then go to @sofo thread and download a de_odex rom like lsw and flash a mod as then most will work for that type of rom. Do a nandroid bkup and efs bkup before you move on to flashing roms just to be safe

Use Biftor ROM...it has S3 lock screen,S4 Flare lock screen and even ripple lock with ink
