I know theirs a lot of threads all over the place on how to create roms. But its all overwhelming... What am trying to do is decompile a rom change, edit, add, and replace some things and compile it back so it can be flashed with a custom recovery. My main goal is to create roms that are fully functional with MetroPCS not just with my thunderbolt but as well as other handsets. i might be posting in the wrong section. But i have a thunderbolt and i wanted to do this with my thunderbolt. Can someone point me to the right direction please

windows 7 ultimate 32 bit
You need 64 bit to compile with.

i have another computer as well with 62 bit
Ok then. You need to get some tools. You'll need apktool, dsixda's kitchen wouldn't hurt to have and you'll need to download the Android sdk

from source...
i get the rom decompiling and compiling now but am still confused on the apktool. i used apktool before and everytime i woiuld write the apk back to the phone and reboot the apps would FC... am guessing theirs a different way to decompile for ics?

am starting fresh with new things.. i was just wondering if it could of been cus i was using a apktool for gb instead of ics...

It's probably because It's based off of xxlp7 (not xwlp7 which is newer) which is an old firmware base. I'm pretty sure hellraise thread said wouldn't work with.

I and hboot 1.4 s off running Viper Rom. I want a red and black theme that will be compatible with my setup. Can any of you great devs here help me out? Team 420 for instance. I want the status bar icons all to be red instead of this ugly white. Thanks in advance for any help.

I tried it and the theme zip gave me boot loops. I wish it worked. It would have been right up my ally. I am on Viper Rom. Maybe your base is different.

Viper Rom is a deodex rom, my theme is currently odex only, will have a deodex version out soon. Currently only mikvirgin, steal25's Rom, and other odex roms are supported. Sorry about the not so delicious boot loops. Odex and deodex don't play nice together

Use the 5.2 version to keep Vid Cam on that base.
Although this one 6.20Dev13 is supposed to be patched.

Make sure you clear caches (dalvik and cache) before you flash the kernel. Try going into recovery and clearing them.
