I'm a total noob when it comes to non sense ROMs. Currently running PAC man ROM and can't figure it out. Trying to troubleshoot connection issues. Sprint tech told me to update profile and prl but can't find the option. Thanks

You have to do that on a sense rom. Just make a back up of pacman, flash a sense rom update your profile, then restore your pacman

Yeah i always make sure to be on a sense rom if i plan on calling Sprint. It makes things easier.

I was just curious. Came from OG EVO and some really fast GB Roms have come out lately. Wondered how they'd fly on this hardware.

Doesn't matter. No dev would build a old OS for this phone. ICS is better in soamy ways

I dying to see Eclair 2.1 on this device!
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
that's like throwing an '87 pinto engine into a 2013 fusion..
I know you can do so with that one program but I was wondering if I can do it on the phone itself. I was rocking the 0002prl which gave me really good performance but yesterday my prl auto updated and now my phone is practically useless again if there's no wifi around.
I'm running an ICS rom if that matters..
U can't from ics unless it has the og evos dialar codes built in the rom
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
yep there sure is.. you goto the update prl link in the settings. lmao!
You can with GB, if it has the 2.1 EPST. If you are on ICS, there is no way as of now, except to flash back to a GB rom and flash the prl.
Use qpst. It'll work.

I had trouble with this. The program wouldn't see my phone. Do you know where I can find a great tutorial? The one in the prl thread that was originally comparing performance between them didn't works for me.

I miss sense 3 actually, I wouldn't mind a gb rom

For s-on Mikey has been the go to dev. He gives a lot of support to users that are s-on
You can use any ROM while S-On. I know, because I tried them. You can use fastboot with a computer for using the Flash Image GUI app (my preference) and flash the kernel by loading the rom's zip file. Use the search feature on xda and YouTube for better instructions.
Long story short, you're not restricted to Sense Roms as you might want to assume.

I'd say viper 4g, my 1st custom ROM and I was s on, lots if customizing. Tried mean bean after being in cm10, only to do pro update, and didn't like it like viper 4g. Although I hate sense period lol

Should I root my EVO?
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
If you have to ask then probably not just my .02
^This.
Also depends on what you plan on doing with your phone. If you're content with the way your phone is now, no. If you want to extend the performance of your phone and you're willing to take some time to read and learn, have at it
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
Well I've rooted phones before HTC aria, Sony x10i, samsung transform, htc EVO 4g, EVO shift, and the EVO 3d, didn't get to root my LG viper but anyways, I'm bored of stock and its like implanted in me once i do it I'll start flashing rom after rom , my question is is it worth it ?
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
As Fin said it depends what you are looking to do.
Also development is kinda slow right now some devs have moved on to the One but...it may pick up if/when the Evo LTE gets an update which is supposed to happen but who knows what HTC/Sprint has in mind
To answer your other question, yes, it's worth it. There are plenty of ROM's to choose from. There are custom kernels and tons of other things to customize your phone to your liking. There are also methods to gain S-off for every Hboot, so no worries there
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
Wouldn't be so bad if they would go ahead and release the new update maybe wouldn't plan on rooting but they drag ass too much

142 is the latest, although there is no download link to it. You have to use SVN or the terminal emulator script to update to that version. The changes between 141 & 142 were very minor.

There is only one Sense 5 port and it's pretty much a daily driver if you don't care about Bluetooth being broken and no audio when using Netflix. Try it out.

This is still in development, but wanted to get something to y'all to get a taste of whats coming.
Please thank @ravike14 because if it weren't for him this wouldn't be possible
So we can keep the development thread clean, post all your non development issues here

Soon as we can get some things working like at least data and Wi-Fi we might release it.

Super cid is not a must.. It's a plus but not a must.. It's mainly for Asian users since we didn't get a official ics update so we had to s off and update our firmware using other carrier firmwares..

I would love the Aroma installer to be affixed to this to make installation a lot easier .
It will eventually be an aroma installer. Just working on getting things fixed first.
