I am a complete newbee fresh off the apple bandwagon (and hopefully never looking back). I'm using this tablet primarily for note-taking in class and have a few questions regarding S-note and would be grateful for any guidance (sorry if these were asked elsewhere, I looked and didn't see anything).
Is there a way to select and move a portion of a note to a different part of the page?
Is S Note the only note taking app that will work with the S pen or is there any others that may be better?
I notice the button on the pen doesn't seem to do anything in the app, is this true? Can you set it to, for example, work as an eraser (or selector) when pressed?
Any additional advice on taking notes with this tablet? It seems to have an underwhelming level of functionality with how much the S-pen is touted. But then again I'm hoping it's just my naïveté.
Thanks in advance!
You're in the wrong forum sir. The one you should be in is the samsung galaxy note 10.1 forum.

Okay guys, so far I have a rooted Galaxy S II...
For christmas, I may sell my SGS2 and get a Galaxy Nexus...
Thing is, shall I wait until the SGS3 is out, or go for the Galaxy Nexus now?
What are the pros/cons of getting a GN?
What are the pros/cons of getting an SGS3?
What do you guys think would be better?
Thanks
Oli
I simply don't understand why you want to sell your S2. Reason?
I change my phone very often, I like having the new Androids when they came out
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

After watching this video, I guess it would be best to get a Galaxy Nexus ASAP.

So.. you know ..I always wondered this myself as well...So i got my a galaxy nexus and put them side by side hehehe
This is not a video to show you specs..that you can find anywhere ..however its a video to show you the difference between them and for you to check them out side by side
Enjoy
pretty informative, thanks
GS2 is definitely smoother.
The difference is deeper than performance. the biggest difference here is the timely updates

As someone that had both devices stock and modded with the very same rom I can tell you that this is not accurate.
The galaxy nexus is super smooth and after some issues were ironed down it ran as smooth as silk
Its really hard for me to decide which one is better..but the reason I kept the nexus is because I love the line
.
Thread moved. Would advise you to read forum rules and post in correct section.
A mod sent me a pm that I can forward you stating that he already moved it. My apologies

Hi,
I'm off to Portugal on the weekend (lucky me!) and I need to navigate about 150 klicks from the airport.
I don't really want to spend hundreds of pounds on mobile roaming data so wondered if there was a way to download the entire route in Google Maps or Navigation before I leave?
If not anyone know of a free, or at least very cheap, alternative that will allow me to do this?

1). Rule 1: Search before posting.
2). Nothing to do with the Samsung Galaxy S II.

Apologies I posted here as sgs2 user sorry if wrong.
I was more after recommendations from people in the know as I already knew from Google there is a frankly bewildering array of options.
I have no idea what is the best course and usually find XDA a great place to ask, thinking other sgs2 users may have dealt with something similar in the past.
Many apologies that this is not OK. Will remember for next time.

I'm not saying XDA isn't a place to ask (if you've already searched and couldn't find anything, which I find hard to believe). But there's loads of forums on XDA and your question is not specific to the Galaxy S II. For example, there is a general Android Q&A forum, amongst others.
Navfree on market you'll need to d/l the map.
Good free offline satnav...

I think i posted before in the wrong section:
HI all, i recently purchased a ATT Note and love it. I have come back to droid after being on the iphone for a while. I fell in love with the screen. I almost sided with the Galaxy SIII due to the performance being so much better but the display model Note was not running ICS. So i got the note, brought it home and got it updated. Its a great phone, i love it. Especially for me being able to remote into my work computer and assist end users in troubleshooting. I am getting close to returning it though and getting the GSIII due to it being just so much faster. Is there a current ROM available that improves performance? There just seems to be so much lag when opening things up and when typing. The GSIII also has a nice screen but is noticeably smaller to me and that was a drawback but the performance is really better to me and things open instantly. Thanks for any input! I apologize for any repost i did a search and did not really see anything, Thanks for any help!
No, no ROMs exist for this phone.

Was it just me, or is there really that much of a performance improvement? It seemed much much faster than the note...
What are all the roms in the development section for the Note? Maybe i am using the wrong terminology...
I am looking for something with great performance and the largest screen i can get right now, so i guess that would be the GSIII, huh?
try the ipad
Lol
The note performs fine but spec-wise the GS3 beats it one way or the other (whether you have the international version or a variant).
To me it sounds as though you updated your note OTA and that's just going to cause you problems.
There are plenty of fantastic ROMs for the note here - whether you want to dabble with GB, ICS or JB.
Start reading.
I suggest you begin with the everything note sticky.

Thanks for some actual help. My last droid was a capitvate. I had to go iPhone for corporate email and such. They are finally supporting touchdown so i am back on droids. I did the update via Kies. I have some basic info now from few people (and you now, so thanks) to get started but my basic question is answered and that is the performance ca be improved so i dont have to switch to the GSIII. Thanks so much!
Performance can be greatly improved. Try flapjaxx uclf6 or hotwires for ics as both provide overclocking. HAve had great success with DaGr8 gingerbread with oc.
I haven't personally tried any of the other dev's roms but have read about them and it doesn't seem like you could lose with any of them. it is just all a matter of what you prefer to have feature wise.

What type of performance increase are you looking for because from personal experience (my brothers GS3) my note was running flappjaxxx's uclf6 rom and my phone was much snappier and responsive ..and the apps we ran side by side..pretty much a toss up on any graphical difference...now if he roots and roms his phone it might be different ...but I gotta work on convincing him(he's terrified of bricking)...good luck hope that helps...

If you must leave the Note, I suggest the One X. The screen on the SIII is pitiful. And, to top it off, I just left the One X for the Note. I can't tell any reall speed difference. The One X is, however, the sleekest and best built of the new "regular phones". I've heard multitasking complaints with the One X, but I never had any issues. By the way, I haven't sold the One X. I'll still be playing with it, too.
I've read a few of these threads and I've owned both the SG3 and the Note and my brother has a OneX. The performance difference is negligible with the right oc kernel, of which there are several to choose from. And the rom support for the note is off the charts. In my opinion your note is just as good as any phone on the market right now.

Oh and manelscout4life, there's no reason to lie to other forum members just because they used to rock an iPhone. Its rude and not what this community is about. It would have been better for all concerned if you had simply moved on to the next thread, and in the future please refrain from intentionally misleading people here regardless of your motivation.

A little searching would have answered his question.
If a camera is VERY important to you, the One X camera beats the other mentioned phones hands down. There really is just no comparison.

That's exactly the example I want to set, that people should search instead of asking questions.
Then i suggest that you take a break from these forums. Its obvious that you are burned out and bitter. It even would have been better if you were to tell the op to search or call his question premature, but you went straight into telling him there were no roms and that he should try the ipad. You're obviously jaded dude.

All the OP had to do was click on the Android Development Section instead of Q & A. There are 100's of ROMs including one that I make. I'm not sure why you're trying to argue about this when you are wrong.

Hey guys, I searched for this, but didn't really find an answer. so here it goes...
I am upgrading my phone 9/22, I had a Samsung Infuse 4G, I wanted to get some real world opinions about the Galaxy Note. How well does it work for you? Are you happy with it? Are there any ram issues(not enough?).
I'm trying to decide between the Note and S3, I know the S3 is newer and has more ram, but I'm really leaning toward the Note.
So what say you?

I would also wait for the note 2, if you can hold out that long. If not, with all of the awesome devs here, we have most of the features that the s3 has plus the advantage of the bigger screen. So I would pick the note.

No worries, and if you decide on a Note or S3, or the Note 2, all have great support and the Communities of user are great and providing, I have been in all those threads, and as you know coming from the Infuse Community that being a great supportive Community, You will have no problem in any of these mentioned Threads/Community. IMHO
Good Luck & Thx....you might see some familiar names in all these threads mentioned above...
I have infuse and note. My co-worker has S3. Note is way better then infuse. But only 1gb ram. S3 has 2gb ram so It works better then note sometimes. Note2 will be the answer.
