Hi guys, going to sell the Evo LTE to someone and want to get s-on before the sale. How would I do so? Thanks in advance.

Just use the bootloader customizer tool.

Probably not a good idea, since it would still be S-off. Could be a headache for the future owner if they aren't aware.
OP, if you used Lazy Panda to get S-off, check out the link below.

Otherwise, check the Development forum.

Why would you want to s-on? Chances are the buyer won't even know anything about it. And if they do realize then they'd probably appreciate it. Just my thoughts...

I recently got a new HTC Amaze 4G for T-Mobile that has S-OFF and appears to be SIM Unlocked for other carriers.
Since S-OFF is rare on this phone does it mean that it has been factory SIM unlocked and does it mean it is worth more with S-OFF?
I really have no use for S-OFF and was wondering if I should sell it to someone that could put it to good use for development or something else? What could they do with S-OFF on the HTC Amaze 4G?
Thanks!
Dont sell and just share with the community. If its not s-off Eng then it won't matter anyway

It says SHIP S-OFF. Is that useless then?
Trust me it's not useless.. Just that the eng s-off is more valuable to development then ship s-off. Idk if anyone has pulled the partitions from ship s-off I know x pulled them from his eng s-off.

Thanks. THe previous poster said to share it instead of selling? What does that mean? Use development tools on it and share files or partitions from it? I'm not a dev. so it couldn't do much...
I think your best answer would be from one of our devs.. try pm'ing faux and nrg and get their opinion on wat to do

JuopunutBear and team have done it again. S-OFF for the EVO 4G LTE!
Root is required. Unlocked is NOT required... but supported! Support for Linux and Windows.

Cool.
Looks promising although since I've already unlocked via HTC dev what's the advantage of s off..as I understand we can already flash radios etc..also it requires root..how is that possible if u didn't unlock with HTC dev
I'm rooted but not unlocked with HTCdev. They are 2 different things.

So you're not using any type of insurance at this time?

I ran it even though I already unlocked and had no problem at all. But people keep reporting they are bricking so you might not want to jump in head first.

why would i want to pay for insurance? my phone is covered under 1 year warranty. i change phones every year anyways. i never buy warranty for anything
So does this essentially unlock the bootloader and give s-off?
So can I run this with an unrooted phone? I was reading the pre requisite and said you needed to be rooted/temp, which doesn't that mean htcdev unlocked?
I want to avoid htcdev unlock...

Its basically what every has already done except your phone will say S-off instead of S-on....no additional features. U can do everything u were able to do before.

Cool. Once someone has a write up or script to relock, unroot, unlock again with s-off and reroot so i don't get that red text on boot let me know. That would be the only reason i care about this.
Hopefully the devs didn't waste a good exploit that could have been used on a phone that needed it.
So I'm trying to figure out which root is the best one to go with. Any recommendations? Did some reading on lazy panda s-off and I'm assuming it's the best if not only way to get s-off. Here is the software my phone is on. I just wanna make sure I meet the prerequisites before I attempt this lol.

if you took the OTA then you are pretty much screwed and only have 1 option, HTC Unlock. you can use the Rawsomething method that makes it easy and automated, but no LazyPanda for you.

I flashed the radio when i was just unlocked last week, installed the freshrom that it refers to in the lazypanda thread and followed the instructions to the letter yesterday with no issues and now im s-off.
sweet! i saw so many people take the update, even PKMN rom asked if you wanted to apply the update.
I have hboot 1.12 so I should be okay right?

I noticed in the thread about LazyPanda s-off that there is a chance that u can brick the device? What's the probability of that happening?
Sent from my White Evo
It is unknown, but it is a temp brick and the unbricker has a 100% success rate.

I don't think you can S-Off yet with the latest. DirtyRacun may support it now I could be wrong. Watch Qbking77's videos on YouTube to unlock and root your device. Good luck and welcome.

If you are already on 2.09 hboot, I think you have to use the hboot downgrade method to brick your phone and install an earlier hboot which will let you run dirty racun. It is by no means easy, and I don't know if there is still support for that method.

Downgrading your Hboot doesn't brick your phone. I've been doing this with my OG evo

The only way to downgrade your HBOOT on this device IS to brick your phone (if you're S-ON, that is). I think you misunderstood. This device is much more locked down than the OG. "Forget everything you think you know."
But at this point, the downgrade method isn't supported (yet). I already bricked my Jewel trying it (granted, that was after the downgrade was completed successfully, but still).
The team that put together the downgrading tool is still working vigorously on confirming a method that will work reliably with the new HBOOT. Stay tuned.

^^^ This. The OG EVO and this phone are not the same. What worked on one won't necessarily work on the other. Just wait for an S-off exploit for the new Hboot, otherwise you'll end up with an expensive paperweight, like the Captain did:banghead:

Once you have S-Off can you go ahead and RUU to the latest one.

I know there are a few methods but a lot of them are outdated. I need to root my Sprint HTC Evo 4g LTE. Can anyone help me out? I'm not a complete noob since i've already been able to s-off and root my HTC One SV but I it took me a long time and two soft-bricks to finally complete it. Can anyone help me out?
Thanks guys, love this forum.

The root method is the same regardless of Hboot or software version (use HTC Dev). S-off is a different story. Hit the top link in my sig for more info.
There is a section included on how to get to the bootloader menu, and from that you can determine which S-off method to use.
