Hello, I have been facing this problem for a while and I'm running out of ideas. Yesterday I turned off my phone to removed its battery so I could switch the SIM card. However, now the phone refuses to even turn on. If I try to charge, the LED keeps blinking in a red color but it doesn't seems to be charging (I left it there for three hours and no go). I can't use fastboot either and Windows says something about malfunctioning driver or something like that (the LED won't turn blue. It simply keeps the flashing red). The phone is rooted and I have been using CyanogenMod 10 for a few months already. Any ideas?
I think you may have hard bricked your phone, you should sent it to a repair shop.
Have you tried switching the sim card back to the one you have used?
I don't think that just turning off to change sim card can create such problems....have you changed something else in it or dropped it by mistake...if there's any such thing please clarify that....did you changed some mods or tweaked your phone or build.prop before turning off??
Press THANKS if I helped,
Regards,
Abhinav

No, I didn't change anything prior to turning it off. I've made tweaks with Pimp My Rom before, but not recently. And I didn't drop it or anything.
did the phone have any overheating issues when you were using it? that might be the problem.
I don't think so. The phone would hardly go over 39ÂșC under normal use.
What about flashmode? Try to install all flashtool drivers for all modes again and connect in flashmode
Look how to unbrick on wotanserver only if u unlocked the bootloader

While Windows says "USB device not recognized", neither WontanClient nor Flashtool recognize it (I can't connect it in flashmode). I guess this means that the phone is FUBAR, right? :/
Well max damage tht cld happen is bricking.. I guess wotan is fr bricked phone.. Try it will connect even Windows dnt recognise.. Dnt make assumptions..

I managed to make the phone boot again. Somehow the battery drained completely when I switched the SIM cards, but I now the phone is getting too hot and the battery is draining quickly. I'll buy a new battery and see if the problem persists.

Hey xda crew!
i was hoping you might be able to help me out with this problem i have
I tried to root my phone recently using the "newbies guide to rooting x10" and well when i turned my phone back on it wouldn't turn on and just vibrated constantly untill i took the battery out.
after that i decided to try and reinstall software using SEUS and it told me that it worked. But when i tried to start my phone it again wouldn't start. but this time instead of vibrating the screen light just turned on and sort of flashed every now and then.
I left the phone on all night charging while the screen was doing funny things, in hope that it would eventually start up. but when i got up in the morning the battery had gone dead and all that was happening was the red led light was flashing.
I tried to get it back into flash mode, but because the battery was so dead all the phone would do was the red lights would flash when i plugged it into the computer.
As im not sure that i can claim it on warranty.. i was wondering if my problem lies in the USB cord/charger or the phone its self? or the battery?
Can anyone help me with this problem?
Would be a amazing help.
Thanks heaps in advance.
Well, something probably went wrong when you tried too root it, so it turned into a brick.
You won't be able to claim it on the warranty because you lost that when you tried rooting it.
Get your battery charged (maybe in someone elses x10), and search the forums here, i'm pretty sure that there is a de-brick guide somewhere, although i haven't tried it.
To get into flash mode, your bttry need to be on 50% charged... Your phone must've been booting all night, find a way to charge your battery mate, n then bfore flasing, take out ur battery, hold the back key n insert it back.... Hope this will b helpful...
maguyver it take an old charger cut the end off strip the wires now touch the red to the positive and black to negative of your battery and plug it in... i had to do it for my buddies droid x when i bricked it when it was it it reads as full charge but you only wanna have it plugged in like that for like 10 min tops

Guess there's not many to help in this issue. I just faced the same man. Don't know what to do. It won't go to flash mode, SEUS don't recognize, neither the flash tool. Reinstalled PC companion thinking the drivers have gone wrong but that don't seem to be the issue.
So im here with a bricked x10, lol but not funny ppl
Someone(recognized developer) in the forum said that the X10 can't b hard bricked. Also, i got this problem 2-3months back. But now its alright.
SEUS did't find the drivers for my x10. Then i went to my friends home(who also has x10) and flash my x10 using seus. I found drivers because drivers were already installed on my friend's pc.
So, i just want to tell you that:
Flash your X10 from that PC which already has drivers installed.
Remember your x10 can't b hard bricked. It will be semi-bricked.
Sorry for my bad english

I'm not a DEV
But I played and bricked and de-bricked my x10 a lot and I literally installled and tested almost all ROM's the dev's posts
So, this is what I feel would've happand.
First of all, u didnt mention if u were on 2.1 or 2.3.
Because rooting 2.3 is not as easy as 2.1.
Now, like what most people commented, you root must have been broken.
Also, what I feel is that your battery stats were wrong.
That means, your battery was not holding the proper charge what it was actually "showing" (charging is infact is software based).
Now, what you actually can do is, find another person who has an X10 near your place.
Put ur battery in his cell and check whats happening.
If its really out of juice, then use "his" phone to charge your battery.
Charge it to full and then put it back to ur phone and try starting your phone.
If the vibration thing is happening, then ur battery is good.
Now open flash tool, and remove battery from ur phone.
Connect USB to phone and comp, and press the back button and hold it, and while holding it, insert the battery.
From my experience, you should be seeing the green light now, and my openion is that u flash the 2.1 generic firmware and then rroot the phone first, install recovery and after doing these, install any of the custom ROMs available.
I'm using Wolf's ROM v 4.04 and its very stable.
All the best and report back if your problem is fixed.
Hi there.
Got my X10 bricked.
How that happened:
Yesterday put my phone on vibrate/silent mode, shile was at cinema. Battery was about 15%. Later on I ffound that phone is off, thought it happened because of low battery. When I got home I've putted it on charge. Red light flashed few times. After about 2 hours I looked at it and no light was there. Phone didn't turn on. Took battery from another X10 (fully charged) and nothing happened. Tried to connect it to PC to reflash it, but no green LED appeared and PC told me, that unrecognized device found. After few PC restards even this disappeared. Just silence. None of buttons pressing configurations helped.
Tried with no SIM and SD cards. No change.
I have latest ROM on it and xRecovery.
Any ideas of what I could do?
hey dude one thing for ya.. you can never brick your x10 its not those old phones it a computer based/linux phone.. If you go through the forums you can find the info of how to unbrick x10 .. try Pc companion or go to sony website and try SEUS( Sony Ericsson Update service) it'll fix your phone up.ill do my best to post a link for ya if i can find it soon
here u go dude. read through this link and you'll fix your phone..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=828398
Thanks. But thing is that phone doesn't go in flash mode. No green LED is on. On first try I got "unrecognized device" from XP, now it's just silent on phone connection.
i think its more in hardware related because as far as i know eh you cant brick your phone. and battery drainage is far related to bricking..so i guess its a hardware problem..maybe you sat on it or something..because bricking is moreon software related.
try this
*remove the battery
*plugin charger to your x10
*hold the power button while inserting your battery.
just give it a shot..
It was in my wifes bag while that happened, but she has her phone just beside mine, so not shure it was because of some pressing on it or whatever.
Tried what you told me - no result. Tried pressing/holding power bttn before, while and after battery insertion.
Again, there was red LED at first, when I've plugged in charger yesterday, but later on it disappeared. I've charged my battery on another phone. Now it nearly full.
Try all solutions before u send ur phone for repair. I had to send my in to ATT and they said it was probably a hardware issue. So i hate to say that but i had the same thing. Sorry to tell u that my friend.that red light is a killer.

my x10 will only vibrate and the led blinks green, but the phone won't start.
tries SEUS, pc companion, pc suite, flash tool. nothing helped.
any suggestions?
Well, mine won't even vibrate.
Voelker45, so you got replacement or they repaired your phone? Could you tell me wich part it was?
I bought my phone on ebay, so no way to send it back. And it was in August 2011, so anyway, I have to work that thing myself.

Install SEUS and run it. Select x10 and it will install drivers on your phone. Then plug in your phone and try to repair.
As I wrote before, x10 does not enters flash mode, so no way to reflash.
And looks like it's really hardware issue. Something with powering.
Ok, thanks everyone. Since I bought it on ebay and it would be unreal to send it back to seller and we don't have SE service centers here, I'll fight for my phone till the end)))

Strange thing happened:
Connected x10 to charger without battery. No LED turned on. Left it for a few mins, pluged in battery. No result. Took usb plug out and ! phone turned on. As it was without SIM cars, I turn it off, took battery out, putted SIM in, battery in and... again, it's not turning on. Tried repeating that way - nothing. Must be some hardware connection problem near battery. Will disassemble phone tomorrow.

Me again)
Strange things keep happen.
Here is the story:
Finally, got some star shaped screws yesterday and took apart my phone (thnx to McKebapp).
Non of IC were with readable names) So later on, after few hours of serching I found Xperia X10 scheme files (!!!). So the most probable faulty part would be Qualcomm PM7540 - power distribution IC.
Anyway, it was to hard for me to understand all that stuff in scheme, so I gave up(.
Assembled my phone back again. And just to... em.... have it done, lets say, I took out battery, pluged X10 in charger, pluged battery in. But it doesn't turned on again. So I took USB plug out abd - tadaaa - screen lightened.
Waited till phone loaded, turned it off again, pluged SIM and SD cards in, turned it on again - and it did! It turned on!
So, night passed and it still works.
Btw, yesterday I've rebooted it few times and it still was ok.
I don't know what was the problem, it could be bad contact, but there is no wires between battery and power distributing IC.
Anyway, X10 is back again)
Yesterday I was writing an SMS when the phone went into a continuous vibrate. I removed the battery and when I replaced it the phone would not turn on. Tried chargin it over night but no use, If I try to turn it on the red LED flashes 3 times then nothing else happens.. Any advice or do I now have a useless brick? any way of perfroming a master reset using a hardware button like on the X1?
p.S. Im on CM6.1.3 Rom, had no problems for the last month with it. I would post in the Dev thread but I dont have enough posts here.

Charge your phone. If you've got xRecovery installed wipe battery stats.
I've tried the red LED process a number of times, but it doesn't work. Cant get phone on to enter xrecovery. I have an old x1 and charged the battery fully on this and then put it in the x10, but no use.
I tried to repair using SEUS, the green LED turns on when I connect the USB this way but the repair always fails, refleashing through flashtool also fails. Anymore ideas anybody? My phone is over a year old so I dont think it would be covered under warranty to get it fixed :-( :-(
Hi [After many tries and errors i finally updated with seus and the problem was solved, thanks to all for helping]
i know there are loads of threads up about the X10 being dead but i dont find those problems and solutions any good for my problem so here it is.
I started getting weird boot loops, and the phone started and shut down by itself. Now it wont charge, and it wont turn on.
Things ive already tried:
Tried taking out the battery + sim and sd card, holding the power button for 5sec and then re inserting the battery. ( didnt work )
Tried connecting it to the computer so i could update with pcc ( didnt work )
Tried holding the <-------- button while connecting to computer, ( didnt work )
Tried leaving the battery for a couple of days so it would get low and then trying to charge it ( didnt work )
Tried charging the phone without the battery plugged in ( the green light went on for a while then stoped. :S )
so right now, it wont turn on, it wont charge. What can i do ?

You can also charge your battery with external charger or put it in some another phone and charge it.
After its charged, flash stock firmware using flashtool or use pc companion or seus to go to 2.3.3
Similar problem, no solution thus far
I have a similar problem as the OP, but nothing suggested has worked, my situation a bit more unique (or dire depending on how you look at it).
My phone was working fine about a week and half ago, it had been hanging a lot if I remember correctly and I had to flash a few times the last couple of months. I had just done a flash and the phone was working perfectly so I left it on my desk a couple of days maybe. When I got back to it it would not turn on or charge. I tried everything I'd learned, taking the batter out and leaving it for a bit, leaving it charging for a whole day. No matter what I did I could not get it charged or recognized in USB. I bough a new battery and it arrived today, left it charging for a couple of hours, but nothing's changed. I would hate to have to buy a new phone if there is a possibly simple solution. Anyone?
No LED's whatsoever, the phone is just stone cold non-responsive. Thanks in advance.

AW: My x10 is stone dead
Take an old micro usb ,, cut it ,, you will see 4 cables
Green and white for data (pc connection)
And red +
And black or grey -
Take only red + and black -
Then take the battery out of the phone connect the cables plus + go to plus +
And minus - goto minus - ( you can orientate by the battery
Then put battery in with cables connected do you understand?
My english is not so good xD
My mother have the same problem

First off, if this has already been addressed I am sorry I couldn't find anything about this.
My wife's Sony Xperia U has been behaving quite weirdly lately and is about to be thrown in the garbage very soon, it is (or the battery is) most likely 87.35% dead but I want to ask here in case it would be something else and could be fixed before she buys a new phone.
Short backup story, she works at a farm and gets a lot of dust and stuff on her phone, and once when she cleaned it up it died for 2 days and the water indicators are now red (duh). It wasn't booting up or charging, the red DEL wasn't lighting up either. But then after a while I toyed with it (literally torn it open because I broke a screwhead and had to force it open to see if there were any apparent damage, but I didn't break the components, just forced on the plastic frame), I didn't find anything, but when I closed it down I tried to plug it in... And it charged. Then it worked perfectly fine for about two weeks. Two days ago it died again.
Here's the real problem: When the battery is completely depleted I can charge it (the red DEL shows up and all) but as soon as it got enough charge to boot up I am unable to charge it in any way whatsoever. If I boot it up the DEL won't show and it doesn't charge, if I don't boot it up the DEL shows for 2 seconds when I plug it in then it goes off and the screen shows the Sony logo for a few seconds then turns off. I am no longer able to charge the phone until we wait for the battery to be depleted again, then I can charge it (after over 30 minutes of trying). I did a factory reset but no changes. Oh and computers no longer detect the device, it worked last week but not anymore.
I suspect that the battery is the issue, however it does charge completely when I plug it in while it is depleted so it is not dead (could be damaged though). Since it charges sometimes it must not be the USB port (I have inspected it and cleaned it, looks fine). The cable/charger is all right, it works perfectly fine on everything else (and we did try another cable to be sure).
Does anyone have any idea of what could be done to fix this if it is possible to do so without buying/changing parts? The phone is no longer under warranty and my wife doesn't want to invest money in the device, if it can't be home fixed then she'll buy a new one. I know it is most likely that nothing can be done but I'm still hoping since she really loves this device and I want to fix it for her if I can.
TL;DR: Phone is all right, battery is most likely almost dead, I need to know if it can be fixed or not before we buy a new phone.
Sorry for the long post, and sorry again if it is obvious that nothing can be done (I still hold on on my hopes, just in case). And yes I'm Canadian, sorry for being sorry.
Video
In case anyone wants to look at my issue here is a video of what happens when I plug the charger in when the battery is charged and the device is turned off. You can see the red DEL for a few seconds when I plug the cable in.
If anyone needs more information (in the event that there is still hope) feel free to ask, of course.
I didnt think battery could do such a mess like that. Im afraid your phone charge controller had been damage by the water. Could you enter fastboot or flashmode?

Just tried, but after the DEL bar turns green nothing happens (the phone either boots regularly or not at all), I have read that it needs to be over 70% charge and it is around 40% so I need to wait for it to be depleted to charge it again to 100% (because for now I can't charge it at all as I explained in my first post)... What would you suggest me to do once I can enter flash mode?

Haha yeah I meant LED, DEL is in my native language and I switched them up, sorry! I have fully charged the phone now, and I can't seem to enter flash mode (or w/e the name), I am supposed to connect the USB cable to my PC (but not to the phone), power down the phone, press and hold volume down then plug the cable in, but the only thing that happens is the LED bar turning green for a few seconds then nothing (if I keep on holding volume down then the phone boots normally, if I release volume down then the phone shuts down after showing the Sony logo).
On the side I am trying to download the Oneclick root thing I've heard about, see if rooting the device and installing a new ROM can help...

Seems like you dont have proper driver on your pc. Btw if you succesfully rooted your phone and in case you had unlocked bootloader, i suggest using latest nightly CM11.

It seems that the version of my wife's phone cannot have its bootloader unlocked so I can't root it, however I did use the provided program by Sony (PC companion or something) and have upgraded the device to Android 4.x, it has been working fine for nearly two days now, I hope that it will hold. Last time I had "fixed" it it had stopped charging after about a week for no discernable reason.
I was unable to enter flash mode but I still want to thank you as it were your advice that made me think of upgrading the phone.

Good to hear it. Hope it will stay that way. Btw, if you are unable to unlock bootloader you still can root it in case you had sim-free phone. After you root it you can still install custom recovery and other custom rom that can be use on stock bootloader.

Question... How were you able to update the phone through PC companion if the phone is not being detected and only charging when connected to the PC?

Sorry for taking so long to answer! Well when the phone's battery is full it gets detected by my computer so I could upgrade it. But unfortunately it did not fix the issue. The phone would work as normal for a while then suddenly die and I have to wait a couple of hours before I can charge it up and open it again. So I guess it is officially dead.
My wife just got a new device (Moto G) so I guess that all's good now. She was able to back up her pictures and data, gladly.
Thank you a lot for your help!

Oh well its a paperweight then haha. Seems like its a problem with the phones board, sony has really gone to the dumps after parting with ericsson. I never had any issues with my X10 back in the day cept for bricking it myself time and again with bad flashed lol.
Yeah, what makes me sad is that she really loved the device (Sony's UI and all), she wanted another Sony but there were none at the shop and got the Moto G but she seems to like it too! I got a Nexus 5 to replace my LG Optimus L7... Damn thing was slow as hell! Now it's almost faster than my 1300$ laptop haha!
