Rafael's & Hell Lock's Kernel have the issue to read Contacts from SIM, but the Stock Kernel can read SIM Contacts.
Try to flash Stock Kernel
or Try these ROMs based on Stock Kernel

Friends, i flashed the ics cyanogenmod rom by lupohirp..
But the problem i am facing is that when my phone starts first time after booting, it doesn't detect/read my sim card.. my BaseBand turns as UNKNOWN... then i have flash my cyanogenmod rom and everthing works fine on it...can somebody help plz and tell me what to do about this UNKNOWN BaseBand issue..?
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
You are on the old basband and that's why you get unknown!
So you can check out dk.notor tutorial on how to change the basband or go to the first page in the generalCM9 topic and folow the instructions(can't provide links now but you should be able to find them)

Bro, how do we check if we are on old baseband or new baseband..?
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
And how to switch to new baseband...?
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
God i told you what topics to search for and you can read them.
If you had any rom except these ones cm7Nightly/cm7.2 N-series/cm9/official lg 2.3 then you are on old baseband and you have to move to the new one-read how.

K.. thanks paul.

Good luck, also don't forget to put franco3.0 testing kernel if you decide to stay on cm9-it will perform better-you can also find it in the first post on generalCm9 thread

@pqul678..I found how to upgrade baseband but i can't find the General cm9 thread..

Friends, i have to switch to a rom(cm9 by lupohirp) that needs new baseband, and i am currently on old baseband.. i have big doubt.. should i upgrade to new baseband first and then flash new rom or should i first flash new rom and then baseband.. plz tell..

It doesn't matter wich you do first

I don't want to be mean, but I think you should stop asking so many questions and have some faith in yourself
If you follow the instructions in that thread, you will have the new baseband in no time.

If you don't know how to do that, it might not be a good idea to root. You need to do more research. Keep in mind that you, and only you, are responsible for your device.

Root via cf-root of cf-autoroot, after that try kernels.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
try all the karnels and see which one suits you more
and these kind of threads aren't allowed
Best kernel, and best rom threads are not allowed as it's all subjective

Search for baseband unknown or imei. There are many threads here. One thing you can try is delete everything in the system/etc/init.d directory and reboot.
