Im sorry for my english
Stop asking if Ubuntu can be ported to phone x or y we don't know the operating system hasn't even been released and even if it was we still wouldn't know what you can do is find out if any of the devs in your forum wish to try and attempt porting Ubuntu

Yes, it's very possible. Basically you just need to be able to boot Linux and have the basic hardware drivers running there. If you have seen Android on a device, this means it can boot Linux and thus run Ubuntu.
The Toshiba TG01 (tsunagi) is very similar to the HTC HD2 which runs Linux and Ubuntu smoothly. If I recall correctly I gave somebody a hand who attempted to boot an HD2 based Linux Kernel on their tsunagi. You could try the search function to find details and reconstruct it.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
the SBB (Swiss Railways) finally released a wm port of their popular application for the Iphone. The screenshots look great, however I can't test the app because it should be downloaded through the Zune Software, but it doesn't recognize my HD2 since it isn't wp7 (argh). Could someone download it and make a cab? The database isn't limited to the Switzerland, thus it would very useful for everbody living in the Europe.
TIA
http://mct.sbb.ch/mct/en/reisezeit/mobiletools/sbb-mobile-wp7.htm
PS. A workaround might be to fool the Zune Software into thinking the HD2 as a WP7 phone. Anybody tried on that, perhaps by tampering with the inf files of the HD2 drivers?
umm, wp7 is completely different code. I don't think there is any chance to port this.
well...
no chance that a soft for WP7 goes on WM6.x
by the way, you could :
- download the java application
- use the mobile website : http://mobile.sbb.ch and/or http://www.cff-mobileworld.ch/

That's so sad. I am fed up to stick on the HAFAS offline app. I thought that wp7 was only a cosmetic update...
What's the problem with the offline application provided by ZVV? In fact I consider it far more useful than any online version since it works even if you haven't got any network connection. And it covers entire Switzerland except some unimportant cable cars and the like. No other platform has got this, not even the Iphone with its countles apps.
well... which app do you takk abour, altea? offline app is better for me too, even if they take more place. But the given link in first post is for windows phone 7, what means not windows mobile 6.x compatible. If you have another soft, please share the link!!

Ubuntu 10 worked like a charm, Ubuntu 12 is slow because of Unity, but non-gnome gui worked as fast as on Ubuntu 10.
@synapsea, this is not a dual-boot, Ubuntu is running alongside Android OS, and you cant expect it to be fast

I honestly dont know, hope that someone with more experience answers that question. But i'm pretty sure, to begin with, you would have to have unlocked bootloader.
As for dual boot (2 OS, only 1 running - unlike the example above when both are running), i read somewhere that it's not possible with Xperia phones, as they are apparently lacking some feature that enables dual-booting.
btw. Ubuntu is not running as an emulation, inside a program, it's running side by side as far as i know
With this thread, I like to give my (and maybe your) request and wish
for KDE plasma-mobile ROM, for our device!
I'm making this poll, to make visible if there's interest in this ROM. Means,
maybe find a willing dev to code it.
Note: This ROM is still new for phones, but KDE is in strong
development
About:
For those who tried Linux's desktop enviroment KDE,
they will probably know how awesome KDE is.
When I first read about it, I was truly fascinated (https://www.xda-developers.com/plasma-mobile-is-a-fully-open-source-smartphone-os-from-kde-e-v/)
You may check out their site, if you're curious: https://plasma-mobile.org/

- Would love to use it, KDE is awesome -
PS: I am no dev, and I know this will probably first be possible, when kernel sources are released next month.
Yes we need this rom
still need the official kernel from Xiaomi though

Samsung announced a new feature with the Samsung Galaxy Note 10, the ability to access Samsung Dex on a Windows or MacOS device. This in my opinion was a game changer as it could allow users to use the insane power of their Galaxy Note 10/Note 10+ devices on inexpensive hardware. Samsung released a client for MacOS and Windows but as usual left us ChromeOS/Linux users out in the cold. It turns out that there is a way to hack it together using nothing but open source tools (no Wine). Once I got this working on my Ubuntu Desktop, getting it to work on my Chromebook was trivial (not x64 only with Crostini). You dont even need to have your phone rooted.
What Works
-Keyboard/Mouse
-Shared Clipboard
-Drag and Drop of APK files to install them
What Does Not Work
-Audio does not route to the desktop
-Right Click does not work
Full instructions with screenshots -

Awesome endeavour
Your work is highly appreciated. I was planning on buying a note 10+ or 20 then discovered LoD was discontinued. Do you believe your method "could" work on the note 20? Really glad to see this as I was about to buy the note 9 and run it on pie(9). I use Linux primarily and my laptop just died. Having LoD would be awesome when this pandemic clears. Again much appreciation Keith.
Edit: after a reread I'm back to the note 9. Still no LoD.
Hello,
I need 5.1 or higher to run in my Galaxy Kzoom (SM-C115) that is stuck with Kitkat 4.4.2 from lack of Samsung support. I also need to keep my Kzoom since in the 7 years since its release there is no other phone at any price that can take pictures as good as it does.
Unfortunate and lame (Come on manufacturers!)
I know that a Note Neo 3 has the same chipset: Exynos 5260 Hexa and can run higher versions so maybe porting one of those ROM's is the best approach.
Rooting has been worked out for Kzoom but no ROM 5.1 or higher:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-galaxy-k-zoom-katkernel-3-4-104-005.2798321/
This person pulled off a slim KitKat ROM: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...custom-rom-for-samsung-galaxy-k-zoom.3172166/
Let me know if anyone with MAD Skills can pull this off as its beyond my abilities and I am willing to pay for a stable Lollipop ROM.
Thanks

Challenge accepted. PM me!
Seems I am in the same situation as Freedomfliyer1 - loving my Galaxy K zoom for its camera and hating Samsung for neglecting its updates ;-)
Since Android 4.4.2 stupidly does not enable the implemented TLS1.2 by default, many apps stopped working. And now my beloved offline navigation went to Lollipop as minimum requirement.
Thus I would love to get hold of a custom ROM based on a more recent Android version for the SM-C115 - and would put some money in a crowdfunding hat for it, or contribute as a beta tester, or in some other way....
Let me know what's neeed to jon the bandwagon.
