Format your sd card from settings, or you can format/delete all files when your tablet is connected to pc via usb from your pc

Complete Wipe of SGS2

Whats the best way to do a FULL wipe of the device? including ALL user data/files/rom leftovers/battery stats/binary counter/everything!?
I am talking about as clean a slate as possible.
*2767*3855#
Extra wipe probably overkill .
Connect phone in mass storage mode and format the phone drive .
Boot to recovery wipe cache Advanced wipe dalvik cache .
Mounts and Storage format system data and sd card .
Use Odin to flash stock firmware as phone is empty .

Thanks Guys appreciate it!

Flash CWM Recovery. Then select every option called "Wipe xxxxx" in every menu and submenu. Then flash a stock rom.
I have a question by full wipe u mean-
in cwm format system ,data,cache
wipe cache, dalvik cache. Anything else.I dont want to lose sd card contents so i did not do format sd card.Is it ok when installing a new rom?

if u wipe with this way u just loss contact and apps that u installed them on your phone but other things like musics, movies and photos .
thanks button
wipe data factory reset and go to mount and storage and format system
To me complete wipe means complete not part wiped .
System Data Cache and internal SD card .
Though no need for wiping SD Card unless data corruption on it .

Wiping by means of formatting won't destroy all of the data, formatting an ext4 partition simply overwrites the file tables. With the right tools it is still possible to retrieve lots of your personal information from a re-formatted partition, including stored passwords, pictures, etc.

All the named procedures does not, don't they?
So either old bootloader and jig or easier use triangle away.
Erasing user data there is an additional option: settings-device-storage-erase USB-storage.
Full wipe. How??

I also do this when the instruction says "full wipe". Aside from this I also format the internal SD(to delete extra folders created from the previous ROM) since all my installers are inside the external SD.
Aside from the above instruction, I also read some posts that you have to mount to a specific folder(not internal/external sd) and clear/format that location. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks in advance.
I do this:
Wipes:
- Factory Reset
- Cache Partition
- Dalvik (Advanced)
Format:
- System
- Data
- Cache
- Internal Storage (No SD)

Could you care to elaborate on how to do the ones in bold?
What I normally do is that I mount points like /system, /data, /cache, /emmc and format all of them. I'll do all of this using ClockworkMod Recovery.

[Q] SD format question

Hi, i have a 8gb SDcard and since i'm gonna pass form CM7.1 to CM7.2 i wanted to ask you a few questions:
1) I have a 500mb sd ext partition, will a /format SDcard from CWM5 cancel the partition?
2) Since i'm using s2e, would you reccomend me to manually uninstall apps and s2e before wiping /data and formatting the SD card?
Thanks

No, your sd-ext parition will not be removed by formatting sdcard.
2. No it is not recommended, just backup your apps using Titanium backup and later you can restore them.
You need to partition only once unless you remove it manually.
/format sdcard will remove all data in fat32 partition
/format sd-ext will remove all data in ext partition
no need to do format sdcard for upgrading from 7.1 to 7.2. just do factory reset, delete cache, and dalvick cache.
no need to manually uninstall S2E.
Thanks guys!
I am not interested in restoring apps, i think i will make a clean install after flashing the rom.

AFAIK, S2E is handling the sd-ext. when do factory reset, delete cache, and dalvik, and then flash new rom, the sd-ext also being formated.
but some application folder (e.g yahoo, titanium) still exist in the sdcard.
if you want a clean install, you can format sdcard, but you must reload the flashable zip rom to the sd card again. Then do factory reset, delete cache, delete dalvik, and flash the new rom.

Thanks again! Well maybe i could format the SD after flashing the rom, couldn't i?
yes you can.
My experience, when I accidentaly format my SD card, I still can turn my Android on.
start up will recreate .android_secure, Android, and LOST.DIR again.
Guys...SD card is not associated with a rom -_- Remove your sd card and the phone works fine, right? android secure and lost.dir are directories that the android os makes on mounting of sd card..Try formatting your sd from the pc and and then insert it in the phone, now take it..you didnt reboot but you will still see android secure and lost.dir...Android makes them in between the mounting afaik.Flashing is not related with formatting sd card except choosing the zip file ofc
Why the heck is it that after I format my SD card... My efs file is gone????

Format system

Guys, when flashing a new rom, some requires format system. Will this format your phone memory storage and delete everything?

flashing new rom requires only to wipe data/factory not format system

If you are rooted and have CWM Recovery:
1. Boot into recovery
2. Mounts & storage
3. Format sdcard
_ full wipe does not format internal SD.
The phone uses a single partition for it's app/data storage and internal sdcard.
So all you can do is delete all the contents ("rm -rf /mnt/sdcard/*" in Terminal) but not format it.
Enter this code but ###WARNING### there will not be any other dialog or yes or no option, after you enter the last "#" it will start to factory reset. I tried it and it cleaned out my internal SD card.
*2767*3855# Full
factory reset (Don't dial
it does not ask you to
confirm unless you have
problem)
Read here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827817
Or, go here Megawipe
Copy the required zip to your SDcard and reboot into CWM recovery. Install the zip and your sd card will be completely and utterly wiped.
WARNING ... make sure you have a flashable rom on your ext sd card before you do this because your sd card will NOT be accessible after you do this wipe!!
Remember the warning above!!

In ClockworkMod, - mounts and storage>> - format /system

[Q] Completely reset i9100

Hello,
i really tried to find answers around before asking.
I have tryed different roms on my i9100, cm7, cm9, rr, miui. Now i have a tonn of folders from apps that are not even installed on my phone. Now what i want is to get rid of all the trash in my phone, like leftovers from apps i installed with previous roms and make a clean install of cyanogenmod 9.1.
How do i do that?
I would really appreciate any help. Tutorials, links, everything you guys can give to help me out.
Thank you
full wipe, install cm9, erase internal sd card
I normally do the wipes in cwm and format usb storage.
do the following and nothing of the old files will be left.
reboot to recovery
wipe data
wipe cache
mount and storage
format cache
format system
format data
mount cache
mount system
mount data
flash the rom
wait for the installation

Do this step by step :
1. to format internal and external mmc, connect your phone in mass storage mode and format each drive with windows format tool (right click on drive icon -> format)
2. to format flash memory go to recovery wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalviq cache
3. Install rom
