My Galaxy S3 has become very slow to load the contact list when it has not been in use for 10 minutes or so. If it has been used more recently it pops up straight away. Any thoughts on what could cause this?

Hello everybody! I'm a newbie when it comes to these things, so please bear with me
I recently bought a Galaxy Grand, however, it seems to have a problem - it hangs up once every day on an average which requires a boot by holding down the power button for 5 seconds or more (sometimes even requiring a battery removal).
It seems to happen at random times, sometimes when the phone is being used, sometimes when it is just lying idle. The main problem is that when it is actually hung up, people trying to call me will hear the normal ringing tone (with which they assume my phone is ringing), but my phone neither rings, nor stores the call log on reboot!
So in effect I would not get to know if someone called me or not, which is not a good situation to be in!
I am trying to get to the bottom of this, so what I did was install CatLog to monitor the activities of the phone. As I have been made aware, Jellybean does not support logging programs fully unless rooted (and my phone is not), so it shows only basic logs. However my phone shows crazy usage (almost 70 entries per second – mainly something like this over and over (full log file attached - till a hang).
02-14 12:23:37.544 I/brcm-gr ( 6506): [gralloc_lock]: new usage 0x933
I tried the same test with an S3 (jellybean), and that showed around 1 entry in approx 10 seconds (which I assume is normal).
Can you please help me figure out what the problem is? Do you think this is a hardware or a software issue? I have attached a log file with this message, that goes all the way upto once instance where the phone had hung up.
Some other points to note:
It seems the phone hangs up more frequenty when the GPS is on
The phone does not hang up in the 1st 3-4 hours after rebooting
The phone has not yet hung up at night (coincidence, perhaps?)
Thanks a ton

Hi everyone, bit of a long story this one so feel free to skip the next couple of paragraphs.
Got a new Samsung S4 mini and at the time was using a Samsung S2. So when the new phone came I wanted to get some stuff from my old phone to the new one. So I tried with the Smart Switch app, I downloaded and installed it onto the S4 without any problems, but when it came to trying to get it onto the S2, I wasn't even able to find it in the play store, because the version wasn't compatible.
So off I went to settings, to try and install the S2 into the latest Android version which downloaded fine, but for some reason it was failing during the installation stage. The phone told me to do it via KIES instead. So I got KIES onto my PC and tried updating the phone via that. This was when even more problems started, it seemed to update, but then on the phone there was a message something like "updating android apps" and it got on the final couple of apps and it never installed, it was basically frozen (I left it a while, maybe not long enough), so the installation of the apps was disrupted when the USB was taken out. The screen stayed the same so I just turned the phone off and tried to reboot it but it wouldn't power up at all.
I can not enter download or recovery mode, the phone doesn't even switch on. It's as if the battery is completely dead.
Long story short: Can I retrieve photos from the internal storage of a dead phone, somehow? I'm not fussed that the phone is/may be broke. All I want is the photos from it so I can transfer them to my new phone.
From what I've read over the last few days, updates etc shouldn't delete things like photos. So it's really annoying that the photos are there on the phone, I just can't get to them.
Hi,
Since a week or so now, my Samsung Galaxy S3 with a rooted Android 4.1.2 "sort of" freezes randomly. And with "sort of" I mean that animations and such (can) keep running, it just doesn't respond to any kind of imput anymore. I had it freeze on a youtube video, but the video kept playing till it was done (but it didn't continue like it would afterwards, so the process definitely froze too).
I have no clue what sets it off. I've had it freeze while using navigation, while browsing, while typing, while taking a photo, while turning the screen off (it will just stay on forever), anything. Sometimes it freezes 5 times in 5 minutes, sometimes it freezes only once a day. In all cases, the only way to get it back to life is by taking the battery out and putting it back. Waiting doesn't do anything.
I thought it might be a memory card problem, but I unmounted the card and got the problem again just now.
I figured I'd download an app that writes logfiles to see what is happening, but all those programs don't work anymore with the current version, due to that the programs only have access to their own logs now.
Does anyone have a clue to what might cause this, or a way to troubleshoot further and try and find the solution?
Thanks!
5 times in 5 minutes, or not for several hours. Tablet will not accept any touch or non-push button input. Press the sleep button and it goes black then comes back fine. Touch the home button, still no touch input after. Using preloaded software or playing downloaded games. Contacted Verizon and Samsung and their response is " remove all apps and use for 24 hours to see if it freezes" Really? 24 hours of Flipboard? just to be able to send it back for a week!
So SM-T807V
5.0.2
Often during Madden Mobile, but during other apps when Madden is not running at all.
Plenty of RAM plenty of storage, did 3 factory resets to try to resolve. Not rooted, no other alts on device.
I enabled dev mode and have several bug reports with the time stamp of the freeze noted. I propose it as a challenge to anyone who can read the bug reports to figure out what is causing the freeze! Happy to upload reports, please let me know if anyone has any idea how to fix/diagnose problem.
Thanks team!
OMG!
Me too, I have galaxy tap sm-t807v , it is also freezing time to time, I hope someone find a solution for this problem.
Hello guys, I have a Samsung Galaxy A10 and since today that I'm having an issue with it. Every 3 seconds there's a lag spike in the operating system only. In apps its completely normal no lags at all. For example if I continually flick the notification bar up and down i get a lag spike every 3 seconds every time. It happens the same with the navigation buttons on the bottom, keyboard, basically anything related to the os. But in apps I dont have this issue. I think it all started when I plugged in the charger and i got a warning that was water on it, but there wasnt any water that warning sometimes pops up when the cable slips a little bit and gets halfway attached. I restarted the phone multiple times, it seems fine on boot but quickly goes to the same problem. The phone is not rooted, it's original firmware and all. Can anyone help me out here?
@crazyon3
Try this
Uninstall apps which haven't used in last 30 days. No need to worry, you can always install back when required.
Delete all images and videos of WhatsApp and similar which are just forwards. It will be a big chunk usually.
Move all personal pics and videos to cloud (Google Drive). Enable auto backup. Delete device copies for > 1 week old files.
Run SDmaid app. Uninstall it after that.
