[Q] Need some help before buying MICROMAX CANVAS 2 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey guys i need some info before buying the
canvas 2
is it having good sound quality i.e. speaker and
voice quality over 2G & 3G
what about the 8 MP camera i know it wont give
that awsome quality but is it equal to 5 MP xpera
sola 720p????
Can it run HD games
Does it give the dual core performence or its just
a trash.
Guys i have to collect money for buying this
device and i would like to know about this
device....

Speaker voice quality has been above par for Micromax phones! No need to worry about tha! 8 MP cam will be pretty decent considering it is a Low-mid range phone. It definitely can run all the HD games available in the market. It is a quad core phone, so the performance will be pretty good. All these things i said based on using previous micromax products. But the only thing that doesn't want to make me buy Mircromax, karbonn etc is they have no xda forum support which is kinda sad given that many developers are from INDIA! Currently i won an XS and i'm pretty happy with it. Will buy this phone for my mum!

[Q] Should i buy LG OP1 or Dell XCD35(ZTE BLADE)?

I have seen games lagging in OP1 so shud i opt for Dell XCD35 or OP1 is great ? plz help folks .!
Well, Blade has a bigger screen and a nicer resolution but the processor, ram and gpu are the same. Plus you can't say it's better-looking.
Some games are lagging on the stock ROM but if you're thinking about modding your phone, the performance issues will be solved.

Well if you really want hd games then I suggest that you should save mor money and buy a more powerful device. This one is not for hd gaming, it's a budget smartphone...
More browsing, chatting etc - ZTE Blade
Games - o1
Cos they share the same chip but Blade aka XCD35 has a higher res screen ... so what lags on o1 will lag on the Blade ... But to be honest, none of these are meant for bleeding edge gaming ...
I'm an owner of an LG P500 but i suggest you to buy ZTE Blade. I wanted to buy it but in Italy we don't have it
ZTE Blade has a nice community like LG O1? There's a lot of ROMs like the ones to O1? Buy the phone just to buy without not even a little community is not so good.
Look by this side too. Now, by the posts above, make your best decision based in what you need and the support you will receive post buy.
Keep in mind that Optimus one P500 have bad sound quality, it makes all the time a backgroud buzzing/static noise, the noise is present in the phone speaker and in the headphones. I can't use my P500 as mp3player because of the loud background noise (it doesn't have anything to do with the headphones I use).
I wish I knew before I bought it.

Never heard of that before. Mine p500 never had sound issues and either have read something like that.
this depends on your standards, maybe some people don't mind having a background noise.
the speaker background noise is not audible in noisy places like in the street.
google and you will find some threads about it.

I so wanted to buy the ZTE blade, but it just would not ship to my country, so at last I ended up with my O1. Though I'm satisfied with it, it's true that it lacks in terms of sound quality. :/
Is zte blade same as that of dell xcd35,coz it looks same but in gsmarena it shows step has 512mb ram and dell has only 256 MB ram..and someone here said zte has an arm 7 processor, but I cannot see that in GSM arena...

my p500 also sounds good. i aint had any sound issues...
Well, upon looking up the Dell's specs a BIG minus strikes me:
256MB DRAM
v. all the Optimus ship with 512MB DRAM, which can make a difference.
All else being equal(i.e. same SoC), I prefer the screen size/res of the Dell...
i had/have both. I had the blade (oled screen) for about two months. The display broke while i was loading my car.
You couldn't see a scratch from the outside, it's just the displays are very sensitive and the blade has a cheap body.
Aside from the better resolution of the blade, i'm much more happy with the p500. It takes a lot more beating, seems to be a better package all together and the casing is higher quality.
The original blade has 512 MB ram, just like the p500. The newer blades only have 256 MB but some of them can be "repartitioned" to use the extra ram. However, this is dangerous and if it fails, you brick the device.
Yeah Install a customr ROM and the performance issue will be fixed. Mine was fixed.

[Q] Need help choosing a new phone!

I need help deciding which phone to buy ... the following big screen phones are available here in Egypt and are within my budget and have good reviews
1. HTC Desire HD
2. Samsung Galaxy S Plus I9001
I found reviews favoring Desire HD over Galaxy S I9000 mainly because updates and Samsung GPS issues
nothing on it vs Galaxy S plus !
also I am worried that the Desire HD is gonna be a legacy device soon and I wont be getting support/updates easily.... on the other hand Galaxy S plus doesn't have many updated/custom roms... Desire HD has more RAM but Galaxy S plus has the better processor and better battery life.... I am torn here!
so which one to get... I am also open to suggestions for better 4+ inch phones within 350$ price range and btw.. I don't care much about the front facing camera or camera flash
Thanks in advance
would any moderator be kind and close/trash this topic.... It's irrelevant now
thanks

Its a great phone with great specs...
it has two shortcomings:
1. Non expandable memory! (though there is otg support)
2. Pathetic sony ics software!
Rest is good...brilliant phone except those 2 drawbacks!

Pros:
Low price dual core phone
multicolor light bar
front cam
ICS
5 MP main shooter
Mali 400 GPU
Bravia Engine
Cons:
Avg. pic quality
Only 4 gb user accessible memory
Not upgradeable to official Jelly bean
No external memory card support
3.5" screen but looks kinda small 'cause of 16:9 aspect ratio
Thats all i can think right now.
If you can live with ICS then instead of U go for Sola-great phone but if you crave for JB then go for P.
Here's a HEADS UP
Sony will release a 16k INR priced budget phone with a 4 inch display (FWVGA) and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean in the next 2 months, wait for it and BUY IT! Better than any 2012 phone
This phone will pack a Dual Core Krait and 1 GB of RAM as well.

Great bang for the buck, bought mine for 170 euros brand new last year. Lack of storage is not an issue for me, the only thing i wish it had is a bit more RAM (380MB is a tad small, at least real 512MB would be fine)

a lot of people like me had to get it repaired because the touch screen missed some letters etc.
really disappointed, I didn't expect such a low-quality component on a sony device.

Really good phone _for_it's_price_! I mean every game I tried on it is smooth-semi smooth. To be honest on Gingerbread, the games performs much better than on ICS. Not just because there are more RAM available on GB, but I think the ICS driver for the GPU is a littlebit off, and it presents much slower/laggier gaming experience.
Not to meniton Camera... Ah, yes. So on ICS there is only MONO audio recording while recording video, and on GB the stereo is quite good! It's even got surround, if you watch the videos with headphones on, you will be surprised that you can easily know where is the sound coming (binaural recording, someone?).
To be honest I think Sony not made qiute a good job with ICS. So for me this phone is better with GB.
The manufacturing quality is good, really good. If you not get the cap off the phhone, it will never get lousy. Screen quality is awesome too.
Sony showed me that they have really good designers. OK, it's my own opinion, but I prefer sony design over any other brand's.
So far I love this phone, and the LED bar is just the tip of the iceberg
The phone specifications are definitely great however I was quite disappointed after ICS update, it took them so long to release it and it simply looks ugly for me. I rooted it, disabled a lot of programs so I get ~125 MB free ram and now using Holo launcher with stock lockscreen. Very nice bang for the buck.

Source? And how is that better than any 2012 phone? The Xperia S, Ion, Acro S, V, T are all better
All I know this laggiest phone I ever had even on GB settings lag and games perform way worse than they did on Live with Walkman.
Best phone for GB.
if you can tweak it a little and get rid of all the useless apps that sony gives in it, its quite a beast! at least for the money you pay for it! There are some great light custom ics or gb roms for it, works great whith those.
Mine runs better on ICS..I didn't tweak even a bit. Its close to jelly bean for me.
I m using generic .54 build by pipi..
Awesome phone and love the media apps!
Just a little tip guys, Enable FORCE 2D ACCELERATION in dev settings and your phone will fly.
When I bought it, I was thinking it will get nice ICS, and later good JB update. Now Im disappointed - ICS is laggy as hell, camera quality and speed is poor, game performance is low, even with ~150 free ram there are trouble with some games. Old GB is wayyyyy better.
I make mistake and didnt check bluetooth before buing - its only 2.1 and theres no way connecting phone to elm327 car adapter.
I regret selling my GalaxyS...

in terms of design CHD is really good .but with double the processing power and ram the KNIGHT is really strong competitor to the flagship phones from other manufacturers .Also 32 Gb onboard storage and 16 mp camera counts . the icing on the cake is the yamaha engine for best audio output which CHD lacked very much to our liking

Buddy obviously there are mods and workarounds available for everything! But there's a reason to call them 'workarounds', they are used when you don't have that thing/feature pre-available! Ofcourse you can install Audio MODS for BETTER audio but that'll never be able to even compete the in-built Yamaha amp!
Ofcourse you can use micro-sd cards to increase your storage BUT let me tell you that inbuilt memories are a lot much faster in speeds and a lot more stable than sd cards! and dude! its in the box pre-built! NO EXTRA COST!!
Similarly you can always use any other camera application as a WORKAROUND! But a 16mp cam specially designed to be HUGE will be better than our HD's cam in any way!
And if you wanna talk about support than correct me if I'm wrong, every phone has ZERO support on its first day! and moreover the community support for ANY device depends on the worthiness of that device! Our HD was better than every Canvas phone which made people(incl. devs) to buy it and support it! and same will happen with Knight too..
Even I'm a user of this lovely Canvas HD from the very start of its release! and I know what this beast is capable of when huntered on its ass! But this doesn't means that the further released canvas devices can't be better than our HD! And its quite obvious that Canvas Knight will soon enter the local retailer and online shops both! So I find no problem in purchasing it!
Peace. :highfive::good:

Yes you are also right............ But MMXNewscaster tweeted that it will be available on micromaxinfo.com plus it said that there are only 830 pieces in stock which will get over very soon........ Its great that you will buy it, but don't sell your CHD it is also a beast as you already said !! And yes Canvas Knight is better in terms of specs than Our CHD, but before its release our device was the best......... And for me its still the best with best community support....... See in coming months our device will get Kitkat and Cyanogenmod....... Our devs have already ported Cyanogenmod 10.2 based on Android 4.3.1 for our device, they gonna release it real soon !! About Community support for Canvas Knight...... Lets See !! But I bet that its community support will never be that much great as of our beloved CHD !!
I too am a big fan of Micromax smartphones and using a Canvas HD myself. Dont know why us Indians go for foreign brand names in all spheres of daily life with our phones being no exception. I hear some people crib about the quality of service at MMX service centers but I have myself visited two different service centers for two very different hardware and software related problems and my experience with MMX was better as compared to other brands like HTC or Samsung.
Anyway, the specs of the phone mentioned sound very interesting in this price range (below 20k). But a hands-on experience is something I would prefer before buying this one cuz I find the Canvas HD is giving me more than I currently need and going for a new phone just for the luxury of it may not be worth the money. SO waiting eagerly for someone nearby to actually buy it so that I could test it with my own hands..

Man, as others are saying R3 isn't comparable to Z5 Compact. R3 is budget friendly offering, while Z5 compact is high-end.
If you still wanna compare, let's see.
SoC - R3 Pro has SD616, while Z5 C has SD810. You know, 800 series of SD is high-end, while 600 is mid-end. Both are octa-cores, but Z5 has four A53 & four A57, while R3 Pro has all A53s. Also, clockspeed is low in R3 Pro.
RAM - R3 Pro has 3GB, but Z5 has 2GB. R3 won. Doesn't matter unless you do hard multi-tasking.
GPU - Adreno 430 in Z5, Adreno 405 in R3. Slightly better in case of Z5.
Camera - Z5 has a lot better camera. Although specs may seem same, but quality is better in Z5.

Thank you for taking the time to respond! I realize that the Sony is better in almost every way, but what i'm honestly looking for is someone who has experienced both? The sony, owning it myself is not in my eyes a flagship, its above average. Sure it has a 820, but the most current fw is not the fastest it could be, this compared to my girlfriends Wileyswift Fox, a uk based phone maker, also a great value/cost device in my mind.
Camera, sure it takes great photos, but its sluggish in starting up, or taking rapid photos. And i'm not a big photo maker anyhow, occasional photo of my nieces or my dog or my girlfriend. So I don't really need THE GREATEST photos. You know?
So in that sense i'm very curious about this phone. If its comparable to the Fox one i'm going to be damn excited coupled with the 4100 battery. I am playing more games lately and i have been needing a powerbank. So thats would be a big up for me. How is the heat when it charges does anyone know?
Also curious about ROM support. From what i have read there appears to be some good support seeing as this is out longer then the 3S Pro. Only really read up on that device AFTER ordering the 3 Pro. Anyhow, couple of roms that I noticed were looking good.
About the GPU, how much is the Sony better? I maily do 2d games and have yet to find a 3d one that will make me comftorbale with touch input. I did also order a gamepad for phones, but that will be maily used for emulators and the like.
Thanks for all the input.
All say redmi is budget.
I'd be happy with the redmi over any other phone to be honest not even taking price into consideration.
As far as hardware for money it is OP
As far as android it self, it may not be perfect but it's damn near close.
Almost bought a galaxy edge, but now I don't have a reason too.
It looks like redmi 3s is waterproof too http://youtu.be/s1i9R8qoD9U

About all the stuff you've written and asked, I would like to answer it in simple way -
You won't notice any much performance difference between the two phones. Forget SoC, forget RAM. If you need better camera go for Xperia Z5 P, if you need just a camera which takes grainy and noisy pictures indoors, go for Redmi 3 Pro. You can see, my only concern is camera. But wait, MIUI seems terrible to some users, some love it. While Xperia's UI is admired my many users, as it's closer to stock. Well, you're on XDA, so you might install a custom ROM. I hope, you got the idea. BTW, if I was you I would not spend 320$~ on Z5, as it really is overpriced. You can easily get Oneplus 3 or G4 Plus by adding more amount, if you don't care about big screen.
I've recently owned the z5c, z3c, lg g3, moto x play, z3 and now the redmi 3 pro. I prefer the redmi 3 pro. It's great value, performs well, has good mic and sound, amazing battery life, and runs very smooth. Not running marshmallow but it suits my needs. Runs everything perfectly. Provided it supports the band you need i don't think others are worth the excessive price. Z5c was not performing well, had poor battery life, and my call audio echoes. The only gripe with the r3p is the camera isn't the best.
