[Kernel][JB][YP-G70] Mercurius v5 - Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, 5.0

From me:
Hello, this it thread of the Mercurius kernel dedicated for Player wifi 5.0, for jellybean roms.
I took name from greek god of speed
The aim is to provide a daily kernel which also will be a speed demon whenever you would like to(for gaming etc.).
Please do not ask any questions that are aswered here, also keep that topic clean. Please report feedback. But you can write anything his as soon as your post is connected to kernel

-Well said. Generally it improves opengl es2.0 performance significantly for me
Q: Why my phone freezes/reboots/is unstable at overclocked frequencies?
A:Overclocking is not a obligatory feature. If you find any of frequencies unstable, then please install voltage control from market and mess up with voltages. Also wirte in the topic to hel me make kernel that will work for as many users as possible.

How is this different from Mevordel's one in CM10? I thought you were working on that.

Yup, I am still doing it but I have just created separated topic to make it clearer.

Don't count on me I am more like copy&paste modder, not developer. I am just learning.
I can only improve existing kernel.

I think is not stable enought, this is because you get worst results.
I found less freeze (almost none) for my overclocks over 1.2GHz but much more launcher redraws, app crash, slow and laggy UI .Don't ask me why this happen .
Under 1.2GHz if I mess with voltages (even a bit) I got 100% a freeze.

Rc4 released!(19/11)(screenshots)blackbird firestorm rc2

hello guys,
its my 2nd day with blackbird(optimus net rom ported by mattof93) now and it seems really promising!
quite impressed with its performace,responsiveness..
initally it was slow, but after flashing paulo v6 touchfix kernel it became really good!
only big bug im suffering from is that usb mass storage doesnt work
however we can go to recovery and toggle usb there and use it!
other than that really small bugs expected to be fixed like autofocus, not switching on nce battery drains to 0%(remove battery and replace) !
so here im sharing a few screenshots of the rom!
i tested neocore yesterday and score was somehwere around 60-64fps (without sound) !mind its a stock modified rom..
games like asphalt 5,dungeon hunter, nfs shift, hero of sparta etc work flawlessly and quite smoothly!
most imprtant it has darktremors a2sd working really well!
have a look at it and if u like just grab it from dev thread ..
guys please vote !!poll on top of the page

Sorry for being this irritating 'questionare' but could you test asphalt 5 for me?
what's next (RC3):
rom partially deodexed
custom framework
some changes to scripts in init.d and build.prop
new kernel
androidusero1p500 could you add a survey to decide which kernel will be used by default in the RC3?
these are the options:
rome kernel by zacks (better performance)
franco kernel (best compromise between performance and stability)
paolo's kernel (the only kernel which solve the scrolling "bug")

I'm using firestorm n was clocked @122-787 interactive /smartass(dun remmber xactly wich one i was usin).. paulo v6 touch kernel!with darktremor a2sd..
I get minimum 60-62fps ..with ram running at 200mb ..(don't prefer killing em)..
Also I'm using autokiller memory manager pro(plays with minfree also)from market ,it has an option called adanced tweaks too..could that be the reason?

Ok.
Im running firestorm using paulos v6touch kernel at 480/729 smartass, OC using setcpu.
Im also using zepellinrox's v6supercharger, aggressive settings.
The neocore came upto 56~55..The gaming is superb especially HD games.
So, will autokiller memory manager mess up with v6 supercharger settings?
p.s. - Whats the ETA for rc3 ?

Just check out Kernel Tuner *root* on Play Store. It has an option for GPU Overclocking. I have tested it on my Xperia S ( Adreno 220 ) and it works fine Haven't tried it on my mini though.
actually theres none xperia mdpi or hdpi kernel with oc gpu. adreno205 simply cant be oc.
the discussion to oc it is since the desire hd days, but none succeeded with good result.
raising the gpu freq manually in kernel source made phone lag.

Thanks a lot. Didn't know that. For OP - if you want better 3D performance, just search for new adreno libs and flash via CWM. Also, add this line to build.prop - debug.gr.swapinterval=0
This uncaps your FPS limit by telling the GPU not to wait until the entire screen loads. Many people say that this causes tearing of the screen image but it works absolutely fine on our Xperia 2011 range. It gives you a massive boost.

[KERNEL][YP-G70][3.0.xx] Mercurius Reborn - DOWNLOAD AVAILABLE

My aim is to make kind of minimalistic, debloated kernel which will be perfect for daily usage and it will be speed demon whenever you would like to play some games
Please respect my time spend on doing that kernel and read at least those few opening posts
You probably would like to have the best kernel possible so please left here TONS of feedback and opinions, suggestions, etc
I won't write that my kernel is super and the fastest and that every feature/update give +50% performance, it is stupid attitude.
FEATURES:
*BFS (brain**** scheduler) - doesn't give too much cpu boost but make performance more stable
*fsync disabled
*o3 and ofast optimiaztion - I will stick to classy, old, good toolchains, I won't use LINARO ones because I don't see any point in doing so
*removed slowdown in downloading files when device is locked
*forced fast AC charging (device charges faster via USB)
*only available iosched is SIO
*440mb of ram - I won't fight for every mb 440 or 445 doesn't really make big difference and it is huge value already, but I will try to expand it in future
*20% UV for LCD
*changed readahead for optimal sd performance
*LOAD_FREQ (4*HZ+61) avoids loadavg Moire
*nonblocking for entropy tweaks and some entropy changes
*debugging diabled (gpu too)
*frandom
FREQUENCIES (cpu,gpu,voltage)
1520mhz - 253,3mhz - 1375000mV
1320mhz - 220mhz - 1300000mV
1096mhz - 219,2mhz - 1200000mV
800mhz - 200mhz - 1075000mV
400mhz - 200mhz - 1000000mV
TO DO:
*rework voltages, they suck as for now
*rework cpu frequencies - I don;t like removing 200mhz but was needed to fix SODs
*rework lowmemory killer and ram management
*find and add good scheduler or tweak on of existing ones and delete rest of them
*add BLN (backlight notification)
*tweak touchscreen - I have to find optiomal values
*other stuff
I now there are many things to do yet, but kernel is really fine to use for now. I have limited time because I have my finals ATM. cheeres and peace

Short answer/opinion:
Voltages should be higher to support more unlucky devices (like mine), we can undervolt next; overvolting kernel default values instead of UV to reach stability is not safe imho.
Frequencies like: 200, 400, 800, 1200, 1500, aren't good? GPU, asaik should be: 200, 200, 200, 220, 250, no float.
And about SoD (maybe can help): I'm currenty using untouched jackpot's kernel with range 100~1200 (stock voltages); SoD appear rarely, but not "real SoD", if I push some hw button for some seconds the device turns alive. I experienced real SoDs immediately after undervolt all the freqs. This make me think that is not a low frequency problem.
Where did you cherry pick BFS from? I haven't been able to find the 3.0.X patch for BFS so I've never added it

I changed voltages a little bit, will uptade soon in OP
I will rework frequencies sometime but I don't think 800-1200 is good idea
no, I know what is the reason for SOD, partially

Where did you cherry pick BFS from? I haven't been able to find the 3.0.X patch for BFS so I've never added it

I think mathkid95 repo
Maybe I uv'ed too much, check if it work for you ppl
Overclocking on sultan kernel always causes my device to reboot randomly or sod.
Any chance of this being different with your kernel?

Nothing stops you from trying
Hard to say if we don't know the reason of such bad behavior.

BTW, KOala, your kernel doesn't have fastcharge. The commit you cherry-picked modified the mach-herring.c file, not mach-venturi.c; to fix this, manually copy the changes made in mach-herring.c to mach-venturi.c.

What is it with people and NOT READING? I believe the OP states that download links will come later. In other words not available now! Read, people! Read!

My apology...I only had a short break and a small screen to boot. Chill.

saw that already but thank you
I will fix it too

Yay glad you brought it back ^^ or should say upgraded he he. Love this kernel!
So far on pac rom working best. Getting a lot of free memory even with multitasking!
Better than sultan kernel so far as well as far as speed smoothness and other problems.

Pity...
Also giving me random reboots when overclocking more than standard.

My device underolts well so I may choosed too low voltages. I will update kernel probably today. Maybe it is just your device

Overclocking is not a universal feature; not all devices can handle the same overclock. Your device's overclocking abilities will be exactly the same between my kernel and KOala's kernel (unless our GPU frequencies are different from one another).
Does this kernel contain android1234567's WiFi fix?

tested on cm9.1 latest nightly and no difference in gaming performance.
default cm drivers are pretty good. i tried adreno v3, newer stock drivers from xperia s from 2013 and now this one.
v3 is the worst of all and a ram hog.
cm9.1 default drivers and the new xperia stock ones seem to be identical performance wise. best results for me on cm9.1: stay with the default ones.
games tested:
loco roco for expensive 2d accelerated gfx
real racing 3
most wanted
dead space
retroarch pcsx-rearmed

I couldn't be able to find that ROM with a search. Can you post me a link?

It's possible CM include new driver by default, but if i don't go wrong i've had read somewhere in the forum that CM team is used to patch some libs to get better benchmark results,so if you get same point with my driver it's not so bad use them
Inviato da me!
Thread closed, on the OP you could find the thread in use, please go to that one for all the related discussion about the drivers.

Gabo
