[Q] ZTE Grand X (MTP connection) - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I'm n00b here. I'm owning ZTE Grand X (Macedonia, T-Mobile) but I'm unable to connect my phone to my laptop and access the phone storage?
I installed adb and the rest of the driver package, enabled USB debugging in the Developers options. When I go to the Storage, Unmount preference is disabled and description says "MTP function is active". When I go to the device manager under Imaging Devices I see the phone as F:/ drive. But I'm not able to access it or see it in My Computer.
I'm running on stock rom, no root access.
Any pointers?
Thank you

Try a different USB cord. Also, check zte general section as opposed to atrix as it could be a known issue...

I tried different USB cord, I even tried different computer and laptop.

here's a link with some tips (which may or may not help!) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2077174
Are you able to access recovery? If you don't get anywhere I'd think about trying a factory reset
how about using the 'unmount' function and see what happens?

Samsung Galaxy S3 not recognized (with drivers)

I have installed Samsung USB Drivers manually and also tried Kies to install the newest drivers, but my Samsung Galaxy S3 still isn't recognized by my computer. What can I do?
EDIT: It only works sometimes, so when I plug it out and in like 10 times, maybe I'm lucky and it will connect once.

I have the same problem. My VSGS3 works with my W8 laptop but not my W7 desktop (at all). The only thing I can assume that it would be is MTP issues with Truecrypt (my desktop is encrypted). I cannot get it to work at all.
take a look at this thread...

dont seem like there is a solution yet.
Really???? S3 Not Recognized?
Maybe I missed something in this thread but is this really the case??? The S3 cannot be recognized as a USB storage device by Windows? I accidentally left my SD card out and now have videos I need to transfer to PC, but cannot via email or any other means I can find. Anybody have a solution? I have installed the Samsung drivers but still not recognized . . . HELP!!!

You can use MTP mode to copy the files to the computer.
The device will appear with a phone-logo in 'My Computer'
Just plug Samsung USB cable into USB port on a PC with the Samsung USB drivers installed and cut and paste as many GB as you want .SD Phone or EXT SD card via Windows Explorer as normal .

This problem is quite depressing Has a restore fixed it for anyone?
I use mac OSX and after searching for a month or so, I couldnt find a solution to connect via USB. So now I use 'Air Droid' app from Play Store. Its pretty good and simple!! Plus, you can do alot more stuff like send or read SMS from PC.. Dont need to connect via USB anymore
I found that installing that rootkit installed the drivers to connect via USB - didnt root it just installed it for the drivers. THANKS!
I am having the same problem.
My Galaxy S3 charges when connected to computer via USB.
But is not detected in USB Debugging or regular mode.
Which windows version are u using. Try installing pdanet.exe on ur pc

You must know what windows you use, 32 bit or 64 bit? Download Kies through Samsung website, make sure got right software.

If you are using x64 Windows 7 this will EXE file can be found here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Samsung\Kies\USB Driver\SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.exe
back this up and then you can remove KIES. This is all you need to have your phone connected without ever really needing KIES.
Or you can use the driver provided by the TOOLKIT that MSKIP has designed (thanks - love it).
Cheers,
try disabling usb debugging
it worked for me

nothing has worked for me. I have not tried the toolkit but I installed drivers from the TeamEpic's easy root as described by QBKing77 and those have not worked since I installed twrp
One more to this incredible situation
experienced the same on my win7 64 bit. I removed it on the faulty usb port to another one and then luckily the driver installation went fine. Weird but worked.

Unable to use "USB Mass storage" on my Galaxy S II

Hello All,
I got my new Galaxy S II yesterday and it came with ICS. I am trying to connect the phone on to the PC as Mass Storage - but as soon as I connect my phone, my PC (Which runs on XP) says "USB Device not recognized". I tried USB Debugging, enabling Mass storage under Settings->More->USB utilities etc. Nothing works. I even tried with a different cable - no luck. Can anyone help me to fix this issue? Thanks a lot.
Read this -
http://www.jayceooi.com/2012/03/14/...storage-on-android-4-0-ics-samsung-galaxy-s2/
USB mass storage was removed by default in the ICS upgrade. Now the S2 uses MTP, similar to the Galaxy Nexus. Windows 7, Ubuntu & OS X can read it, but XP doesn't have MTP functionality built in. I guess it can be enabled though, don't know how. In any case, USB mass storage is still accessible, follow the link.

I tried this post before - as mentioned earlier in my post, I had tried this option of enabling usb mass storage - still no luck..

[Q] Phone not detected, but charging and USB tethering working

This is probably a common problem, I saw lots of threads but I can't find any solutions to it, and I really want to make my phone faster i.e. root
Phone: LG P990 (Optimus 2x)
Problem:
Phone not detected by the computer when connected through USB.
What I tried:
1. Factory reset (only data)
2. Cleaning the port with a toothbrush
3. Uninstalling and re-installing drivers
4. Replacing the cable I was using with the OEM one (I lost my original together with my charger)
5. Plugging into different computers and USB ports
6. Checking and unchecking the option of connecting through mass storage only
7. Enabling and disabling USB debugging
What's so incredible about my problem is that the phone actually knows that it is connected to the computer - the USB tethering option is available and it says that USB's connected - but the USB connection icon on the status bar for mass storage doesn't show up. I'm not sure if it's a software or hardware problem. So any ideas how to fix this?
Bump.
Android version: 2.3.4
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9
Firmware version: LGP990-V20d
Please help!
Just some updates.
See proposed fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1981359
My computer showed the unknown device message when I chose CP UART. I'm working on the rest of the fix now, and hopefully the problem can be solved.

No rom installed s-off have recovery cant install rom

I have s-off a recovery installed but i didnt put a rom om my phone to install after the wipe. I have attempted to us the sideloader but adb wont regognize my device. I have also tried multiple usb ports and another pc and nothing is working. any help is appreciated!
With the phone plugged in to the computer, what is shown in device manager for devices? Is there a yellow exclamation point beside one of them? If not you may have to load a different driver manually.
If you can't get sideload to work, you could always by an otg cable, load a ROM on to a flash drive connect the otg cable to the cash drive, and do it from there.

If you have twrp just mount USB storage and push a ROM to your phone.

ok well in my device manager it does show my phone and it does show a triangle next to it and it doesn't detect my phone automatically. How do install the drivers myself and where do I get those drivers. I have tried to do the sideloader thing but adb does not detect my phone. and that otg cable looks cool but how exactly does it work?

Delete current drivers and Google the correct updated drivers for your device install them restart your computer. Plug your phone in see if it's recognized.
In twrp recovery go to mounts and storage select mount USB storage. Should be able to put a ROM on your internal storage.

Its a little cable that plugs into your phones charging port, and on the other side there is a spot to plug in USB items.

This forum is now closed. hyphidragon and I were finally able to figure it out. I would really like to thank him for all the time he put in to helping me out. The solution was to flash a older stock hboot and then to run a program that returned it to stock s-off a couple builds behind. If you have the same problem and need help just give him a message and he'll be sure to help you out. Thanks for all he work guys!
