When I go to the stock Video app and try to play a movie, it just has a black screen. It never used to do this. I uninstalled the update, thinking it'd revert back to stock (even though it's already stock?), but it uninstalled the entire app. I managed to get the stock Videos app back, but I still get a black screen when playing videos (videos taken with the camera and other AVI files). Any ideas?

Ah, thanks for that. Someone in IRC got to me quicker. I replaced both VideoPlayer3.apk and Videos.apk but still no luck.
Fixed it. I changed my device to an E973 in my build.prop (so I can get Bell Mobile TV). Changed it back to E970 and it works!

I am hoping this is in the right section, since it would be dev or hacking to get what I am looking for.
I am currently using P3Droid's pre-rooted 2.3.3. Video recording on the camera is limited to 640x480.
Verizon and Motorola's sites both list "720p video recording" as a feature.
What happened to the 720p option?
Can the camera be modded to re-include this option?

When u press menu while in video or camera mode and bring up the settings u should have a choice of which video resolution u would like to use. Unless you don't have the same camera.apk that came with hour phone it may be different then. It should be there though.
Thanks for the reply, however, it is not there. I the highest resolution I have is 640x480.
It's not a problem for me alone evidently, it is listed in this issues thread as well:

The only time I lost being able to GD record((or choose it)) was when I changed my camera apk due to flashing a rom. I pushed the old camera.apk back into system app ..
And it was the camera.apk that I had saved from the prerooted gb update.
Im sorry im not ofit much help. Maybe try sbf and reflash the preroot. Im curious as to whether there might have been different versions floating around. Go mine from a link at droidforums.net I believe.
When I get done work I will see if I can send you a copy of my camera.apk to see id it helps after u push it into system/app if you would like. It would be around 8pm just check ur private messages here
I am using P3Droid's pre-rooted GB SBF. I looked over the forums over there, and cannot find any mention, but I did find mention of it in the thread above. I wonder if I can find a stock camera apk...how would I install that? I am sure it cannot be installed just by opening it.

I will see if I can get that to u on my break today.
It is REALLY easy if I have root explorer. Best app I ever paid for.
Just need to place the apk in the system/app folder and change the permission for it. I will give details later in private message.
Will it harm anything to use the Froyo camera instead of the GB? I am running 2.3.3...
Oh, and it won't let me thank you again, so thanks!

Haha thank you. I don't believe anything bad will happen from using froyo cam. Just to be safe make a nandroid backup before u do it.
Also long press the camera you have and go to change permission just to see which boxes you need checked when you put in your new camera.apk.
No issues here same rom 720p is still the default as well as being selectable, just to throw a monkey wrench into the works

Same here, not sure what OP has going on. Standard GB 2.3.3 X2.
Okay. I was trying to just upload my apk into this thread but I can't seem to choose the file using my phone. My computer isn't working. If I can get to a comp I will do it asap or if I can find another way.
Im having issues recording 720p. I can click the option, even in the pre-rooted gb update. My issue is that I can not get good quality. After 15 or so seconds the video and audio become out of sync and the video "skips" for like 50ms and sometimes longer thus causing issues when uploading to Youtube and Facebook.
Sorry for Hijacking your thread, but this was already started and I felt it was appropriate. As to your question, it sounds like you have an incorrect camera app. You MAY need to flash/inject the camera/camcorder/gallery .apks.. To my knowledge, they all opperate together, because the options work off each other. Have u froze/deleted any of those .apks?
I wouldn't advise updating the Netflix app. I did yesterday and now I only get audio and no video. I'm running CM7 beta. Can anyone using stock or another rom confirm if yours is working. I saw in the app market comments that others were having problems as well but haven't seen anything over here.
I have stock gingerbread and I don't have any video issues. Although I was getting like a fast forward audio/video thing when I started a movie. It corrected after I stopped and started it. I like it better because they fixed the orientation situation.

Well I guess it's a cm7 problem like the HBO to Go app. Damn, I love the rom but this needs to be fixed. Hopefully I can flash a backup to get it going again.
yup i had the same issues. i just re-installed a backup of 1.4.0 and it works fine again.
Well, I did a cwm restore from a backup I did 2 days ago. I opened netflix and gave me an error about my device being deactivated, I just clicked through the ok's and it logged me out. I logged back in and all was well. Also, after reviewing the bug reports on CM7, I came across an interesting fix that may work for plex, I'll post the link below in the hopes that it will help somebody.

No I didn't. Didn't work on hbo to go. Figured out it was a work around for plex only. The settings are found within plex I believe.

Confirmed. Netflix released another update and it is now working on cm7, I have tested and it works.

What's in this version:
Support for Android 3.x devices.
Available in the USA, Canada and Latin America.
Supports alternate audio and subtitles.
Fix incompatibility with CyanogenMod 7 ROM devices.

I'm running a rooted at&t stock atrix g4 and have no problems with Netflix.
what gives? it worked before, all of a sudden, doesn't work. what i mean is, when listening to music on youtube, the audio would still play after the screen is turned off, now, all of a sudden, it doesn't do that. any help would be greatly appreciated.
and this is for a friends amaze 4g
thats kinda vag is he ona custom rom etc
nope, fully stock
Same problem here. I hope it is nothing to do with the update that I recently got.
I am on Pinnacle 1.3.
Mine never did thst.. n after I would have to refresh page just to get the video to play again

If you just view the Youtube Update option in Market, you'll see tons of people complaining of this after the last Youtube Update.
So your friend updated his Youtube and that's the culprit. They changed how the app works. Has nothing to do with the phone.
Yeah i updated 2 and i hate it .....
Sent from my HTC Amaze 4G using XDA App
I can't seem to recall youtube not working while screen is off.....
Maybe because the screen doesn't die while the app is active.
Or its just not seeing the difference between audio and video

Old Youtube APK
Could someone that knows what they're doing pull the apk for that "old youtube"
incase we update over and update over and update and then lose it forever?
I don't fully understand how it works but I assume it's the same thing like people pulling the apk for the old market right?
Just thought it would be a good idea to have the "old youtube apk" floating around on here so if a time comes when we need it we already have it.
Thanks.
Oh yeah, if that's NOT how it works...I apologize.
I have the app downloaded, paid for the video so I can watch it on my computer. But on my Note the video won't play. It just shows a little puzzle piece with a question mark, spins for a while, then dumps me back into the app. Anyone have luck getting this video going on our Notes yet? Might not be compatible
Seems to be working fine for me, what exactly is happening to you when you try to use it?

Thanks, a re-install of Flash fixed it. I did have Flash installed, but it was restored from TiBu, so perhaps that was it. Although all other flash in the browser worked just fine. Oh well.
Funny thing, I tried to play the game after I uninstalled Flash and it said "Flash is required to play MLB at Bat videos".

lol, classic flash on Android, you never know what's going to happen
Works for me
I use the March Madness On Demand on both my iPhone and Note. The only thing is there is about a 20 second difference between devices. (Ex. shot clock it at 10s on the iPhone and at 30s on my Note)
Just out of curiosity i went ahead and tried the Lg G3 camera tweak to test out the fps improvement. I follow all directions given and was left with a broken camera app. So using my past experiences with the S3 (lol) i downloaded titanium backup and backed up my camera app before i even attempted. After i finished with the tweak i ran the app and it was unresponsive so i undid the steps and restored the camera app with tb. The application now works however i dont get to use the entire screen as seen in the screenshots, also i can no longer record with the camera app. Any help would be much appreciated.
Yes i have root.
