Can someone help with HSPDA phones ASAP - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
I am thinking to purchase at&t or T-mobile samsung galaxy S3, samsung galaxy s3 mini, iphone 4, 4s or 5 immediately before I go back to my homeland. I know these samsung galaxy S3 and iphone support HSDPA network. My homeland has only WCDMA 2100MHz network. My question is will these galaxy S3 or iphone works on WCDMA 2100 Mhz network. Thanks in advance.

HSDPA is the data connection protocol for 3G networks. WCDMA is what 3G is called, and 2100 MHz is the frequency. You need to look at a full specification list for the carrier variant of the phone you want, and check that it supports 2100 MHz frequency band. You'll see this info and supported 2G and 3G bands right at the top of the specification list in GSMarena. If the phone supports 2100 MHz, then it will work in your country. HSDPA/HSUPA is to WCDMA as GPRS/EDGE is to 2G GSM networks. They are just data protocols. You need to look at the bandwidth specifications.

[Q] EU(UK) galaxy s2(i9100) support ATT 850/1900 UMTS frequencies?

I've seen this blog.
http://blog.clove.co.uk/2011/04/12/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-umts-frequencies/
However, with our experience in the industry we have seen that almost every device launched in recent years within Europe has been ‘optimised’, with the American 850/1900 range locked down, leaving only 900/2100 for the rest of the world. As we are based in the UK it is for this reason we have taken the tentative step of advertising only these frequencies.

yeah, UK clove store said EU galaxy S2 doesn't support US 850/1900
network. (They said that may be US 850/1900 UMTS frequencies are locked.)
But, I find google news.

Speaking about release dates we do not have a specific one for the GT-i9100 in the USA but we can confirm the FFC has authorized the use of this particular smart phone on the 850MHz and 1900MHz GSM frequencies which means the first carrier to offer the Samsung Galaxy S II might be AT&T. These two frequencies account for the AT&T 3G network but they also match some Canada operator’s frequencies so there is a big chance the Galaxy S II will land there too in the near future.

Follow this news, EU galaxy S2 using US GSM 850/1900 networks.
Who is say that TRUE?
i'm very confused.

It should work.

So, only using ATT GSM network?
ATT UMTS network can't use?

That first link (that I provided earlier tonight I think) - read it to the end please, Clove has all the info on that page, just finish reading it. sorry for the tone , but I think you did not pay enough attention - there are comments to that blog post that say clove confirmed with the manufacturer and local distributor that all 4 bands are present.
I'm confused here
I have SGSII ordered from Clove. I plan to use it with ATT sim card. Have I made a mistake? Will I be able to use it? Do I need to cancel?
I hope it works well with AT&T since I intend to get this phone.
My current (imported) GT-i9000 did not properly support AT&T and has very poor call quality and call drop issues.

Although Clove originally said they doubted it would support 850/1900 3G+, they did later confirm their stock would be quad-band 3G. So no need to worry about support for NAM 3G.
Once someone get's the GS2 in USA on ATT, can you confirm that it indeed works on Edge AND 3G?

That's because the i9000 is only tri-band UMTS and only supports AT&T's 1900 frequency. When it gets to an area where the 1900 H/3G signal is weak, it can't switch over to the 850 UMTS simply because its hardware doesn't support it. So, then the phone call drops. You'll notice if you switch the i9000 to 2G/Edge, you'll never get a dropped call... because it's quad band GSM.
Also, ever notice you never get dropped calls when stationary and on H/3G? That's because with a solid 1900 UMTS signal, the i9000 will never search for the unsupported 850 band.
(And yes, I have confirmed all of this as I also own an i9000.)
i9100 supports quad-band UMTS with 850/1900 H/3G, so you will not have the frequent dropped calls anymore.
Here are the frequencies for AT&T: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AT&T_Mobility#Radio_Frequency_Summary
Frequencies used on the AT&T Network
850 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE 2G
1900 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE 2G
850 MHz UMTS/HSPA 3G
1900 MHz UMTS/HSPA 3G
700 MHz LTE 4G
So, the i9100 International will do almost all. Except LTE.

[Q] Can S II Use At&t 3G Internet ?

Hello Guys !
SII Network :
Network
HSPA+ 21Mbps/ HSUPA 5.76Mbps
EDGE/ GPRS Class 12
Quad band GSM 850/900/1800/1900
Quad band UMTS 850/900/1900/2100
Do At&t 3G networks work on SII ?
or just Edge/GPRS ?
Thank you ALL! AND SORRY FOR MY POOR ENGLISH
AT&T:
Quad band GSM 850/1900
Quad band UMTS 850/1900
Yes
It works, plenty of users (myself included) are currently using it on ATT 3G/4G network.
You should have searched a bit on the forum, this is a new thread that is unnecessary!!!!

German SGS2 in the US?

Heya
A buddy of mine, who's located in the US, is hunting for a SGS2.
One idea was, I buy one here (=Germany) and send it to him.
Question: Will the german SGS2 work fine in the US with his US sim card?
He mentioned something about "boost" or "sprint" being the carrier he has a sim card of.
Of course the device would be unlocked and all, so that wouldn't bother us.
If it your buddy has a "Sprint" network contract he needs a 4G/CDMA phone. Sprint has a specific version of SGS II called "Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch" (SPH-D710) .
2G Network CDMA 800 / 1900
3G Network CDMA2000 1xEV-DO
Announced 2011, August
Status Available. Released 2011, September
Hmm, but that'd mean he'd need special FWs/ROMs and couldn't just flash all the ROMs and stuff floating around here, right?
What carrier/network/whatever would he need to be able to use a "normal" I9100?
delete....
Samsung Galaxy S2 (international) has support for
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
Samsung Galaxy S II T-Mobile
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 1700 / 2100
but I believe T-Mobile also suport HSDPA 900
AT&T: Samsung Galaxy S II AT&T
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
Sprint: Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch
2G Network CDMA 800 / 1900
3G Network CDMA2000 1xEV-DO
So the international SGS II should work best in AT&T networks. And maybe in T-Mobile. For data 3G network is important.
3g will not work on t mobile with international version... don't mislead people. In order for 3g to work on t mobile both 1700 and 2100 freq must work... one is used. For upload and the other download.

Thanks guys! This helped, I think.
Looks like he should get an AT&T SIM and all shall be fine

Rogers SGH-i727r question

Hi all,
I'm currently agonizing over which version of the SGS II to get (international, LTE, or Nexus). I was playing around with my girlfriend's new SGH-i727r (Rogers LTE version) this morning and noticed something interesting on the debug menu - it clearly lists all 5 WCDMA bands:
WCDMA 850
WCDMA 900
WCDMA 1700 (!)
WCDMA 1900
WCDMA IMT2000
I suspect this is a pentaband phone, even though it's not advertised as such.
Thoughts? If this is true, it would be a huge plus in its column, as the screen and pentaband are the two biggest features of the Nexus I'm interested in.

Question regarding 1700mhz band

So I read around that the hack for the Samsung Galaxy Note I717 to get the LTE 1700mhz frequency working on T-Mobile (U.S.) and Wind/Mobi (Canada) is available.
My question is, would this or any hacks work on any LTE1700mhz band phone to work on AWS carriers running on HSPA mode?
Like the HTC One X AT&T version for example..
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
4G Network LTE 700 MHz Class 17 / 1700 / 2100
which is the same specs as the Note in terms of bands it uses...
Anyone knows??
