Capacitive buttons light always on - HTC Amaze 4G

Hey guys
I just recently noticed that my Amaze capacitive buttons light has been staying on all the time. Even when I press the power button once and the screen turns off. Sometimes while the screen is off, the lights in the button seem to flicker. When I power off the phone completely, it turns off but the button lights stay on. Only when I take out the battery do the lights turn off. I tried using the screen filter app that can turn off the backlight for these buttons but it didn't help. This started happening after I flashed the CM10 nightly. When I switched to Speed Rom 8.0, the problem still continued. I installed Android Revolution Rom recently and the problem hasn't gone away. Any one know how I can solve this problem?

On speed rom 8.0 u have a tweak to turn them off completely or download kernel tuner and turn the capacitive light to 0%

I think there is also a modification you can make to turn them off in the build.prop I think. One of those scripts I can't remember which.

Already tried the mod and didn't work. Lights remain on. Even did the tweak that Speed Rom has and that didn't do anything either.

OK on speed rom 8.0 here is what you have to do click on energy tweaks, misc, capacitive light, always off, then click on reboot on top right corner check out the pics I made for u...

appreciate you going through all that work to get the screenshots, but I did exactly that in speed rom and it didn't do anything to the lights. I am running Android Revolution Rom now though.

if you still have the issue try this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.deskangel.kblight&hl=es
i use it for remove screen bleeding from capacitive buttons specially in the night or dark places e_e

An App to turn off softkey backlight?

Anyone know of an app or mod that allows you to turn off the softkey backlight when you want? I read on my Vibrant at night & those extra bright softkey lights are hard on my eyes.
does not exist for any GALAXY S.

Really? I had Captivate with i9000 reoriented kernel and those softkeys were lighting only when pressed. So if you tap screen, softkeys do not light - perfect for night reading. Solution that I see - to find a i9000 reoriented kernel for vibrant.
I know there is one called "BLN" (Back light notification I think), the paid version lets you schedule when the lights turn on and off. I have mine scheduled to turn on at five in the morning and off at seven at night. But I think it's just for notifications and not turning them off completely.

Unfortunately BLN doesn't turn off lights completely. But we can ask developer to add such feature .
Anyway there should be some sort of hack for kernel to turn off those keys.

This is correct I know of no Galaxy phone that can do this either Sorry
This is disappointing. I know it can be done. Because there are plenty of members here that have turned off their BLN keys on accident by using SGS tools, and messing around with it.
So I know the script is there. Just, nobody has done it yet.
Dev,s anybody???
Come on- Let's do this.
Thanks
Bump. I would like this for the Samsung Fascinate. Anyone?
Have you try 'Keep the lights on' in market by Guardian Bob? When toggle Off, the lights stayed off when you tap the screen. Atleast it is for me, I'm on Bi-Winning rom.

It's not the app, it's the ROM. And they come back when you tap the keys directly. I think all 2.2.1 ROMs do this.
Same issue
The key lights really bother my eyes at night....has anyone figured out a solution to this problem yet......please help thanks

Not sure how you would go about this but I really want to ask why? Just because? Or is there a practical reason behind it?

that should work, you might have to disable then re enable when you reboot

some places (with stock, or builds that work like stock) if the light sensor "sees" that it is bright enough the home, back, ect will have the backlight turn off. but i can't see the buttons unless the backlight is on.
i'm using the gummy rom so my button light are always on.
This App ROCKS!!!!

[Q] Capacitive buttons don't light up

I flashed fluxi kernel on CM9, then installed a newer CM9 build which replaced the kernel, and now the capacitive buttons don't light up when I touch them or the screen.
Any solution?
Under Settings>Advanced>Sensors "Enable keys backlight" is enabled?
Bye

Hold menu button for a few seconds and then let go.
Thanks. It is enabled and holding the menu button does nothing.

Did you leave the phone on charger overnight? I did.
Now, most of the times, my capactiive keys do not respond. Sometimes they do.
When they are not working, they do not light up either no matter how many times they are touched. However, if i touch the screen area at that time, they light up according to duration (like 1.5 seconds). But still, touching them does not make them work.
I have tried the screen code *#2660# to update the fw of capacitive soft keys. Made no difference.
I've always been charging it overnight, the lights stopped working after flashing CM9 over CM9+fluxi kernel.
Also, the buttons work, the light behind them doesn't.
Well imo, you should flash stock kernel and start over i.e. root, then flash CM7 latest nightly. Stay with it for a few days.
I suppose full wipe should fix it, I was hoping for something else, like messing with the liblights file
Try siyah kernel. Using ext tweaks you can set a timeout for the capacitive button. It lights up when you touch the screen or the button not like the other kernels where you need to touch the button so that it would light up.
Edit: In case you try siyah kernel, make sure you download the one for sgs2 not sgs3.

Thanks but I might as well flash fluxi kernel. The problem started because I wanted to return to CM9 kernel (hence flashing CM9 over CM9+fluxi). I'm looking for a solution that will allow me to stay 100% CM9, without full wiping my phone.

I think with cm9 kernel (for now maybe) you don't have the option to have a time out for the capacitive buttons or similar to what i have explained earlier (the one where when you touch the screen the capacitive button lights up blah blah). Either it is permanently on or it is permanently off (using the 2nd poster's advice).

"Enable keys backlight" is ticked. When I untick and then tick it again, the lights work only as long as I don't turn off the screen. If the screen is turned off and on again, no lights as usual, though the box remains ticked.

It's been a long time since i tried stock cm9 kernel. During that time the button lights are always on. I think i tried it one time and you're right. Well, siyah is working for great for me.

Is there a flashlight app that will keep the LED on after the screen goes off?

Is there a flashlight app/hack for the evo 3d that will keep the LED on after the screen goes off?
This and the keyboard are the two biggest things I miss from my My Touch Slide. :crying:
The Rom I'm using zr3dx has a flashlight built into quick settings that stays on when the screen is off. I don't know if it is included in Leedroid Tweaks or was added by Drop (the Rom dev) though.

If you are rooted, any room with flashlight from status bar pull, or if it has leedroidtweaks(comes with flashlight widget from status bar) you can turn the flashlight from there...hit the power button the flashlight is gonna turn off for a second, then turn back on, until you go back to the pull down settings and turn it off...
search for Flashlight on market, ive downloaded it and led stays on even when screen goes off
Thanks for the info. I'm glad to hear it's not a Evo 3D thing.

Every app I tried (20 or so) goes off when the screen is locked. Thus the post.

I agree. Maybe the ROM you are using goes into such a deep sleep that it shuts off the LED when you turn the screen off.
try this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=droid.pr.coolflashlightfree
I've tried a few, but always go back to Tesla led. It does flash off for a second when the screen shuts off, but it will come back and stay on.

[Q] Notification LED

Does anyone know how to use the front key lights as notification led's on our L9 since we don't have one? I found out how to use the camera flash as one but that's the back of the phone and i don't like facing the phone screen face down on anything in fear of scratching the screen.
If there is not a method already around somewhere to do this, how hard would it be to get this working? I think it would be a great asset to our L9s!

Use LG Notifications from Playstore. It's free but requires root.

Please try the NOLED app. Probably a better option. Tried on my HTC Glacier. Works.

How does it behave for you? On my L9 nothing changed at all once installed and enabled :/ What settings did you choose? Do they flash after the screen turns off for awhile after the notification, and stay flashing until they are read??

I just chose the default settings, and it flashes the front key lights till the message is read. Maybe cause I'm using P760 V10h on my P765.
The app is a battery drainer since it wakes the cpu up each time the buttons light up.
Im hoping they can program this feature into future roms for the L9 where it just causes the LED's to blink until the screen is turned back up when a notification is received. Not sure if its possible to program the blinking to run without waking the cpu?
That was another concern of mine, but if it was integrated into the rom in such a way to not wake the cpu then battery life would not be affected as much.
