SIYAH KERNAL (Q&A) thread for siyah q&a's - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium

There is a siyah discussion thread in general......and its KERNEL, not kernal

Which would be safer to use, the siyah kernal flashable zip file or the odin .tar?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium

You can use either, I personally prefer using odin, I find it having less chances of acting funny...recoveries can sometimes act buggy especially CWM..but its upto you...

Thanx, just flashed siyah v1.8.7 with odin, went as smooth as better!

It seems you flashed the wrong Kernel. Go to http://galaxys2root.com/ and follow the steps to install the Zedomax kernel if you want to overclock your phone. Make sure you are looking at the AT&T Galaxy S2 section!

How to install cm9 on sgs2 gingerbread?

Just a question. There are numerous sites on the internet that tells you how to install cm9 on sgs2. Others say that you dont need to flash a leaked ics. Others need you to install . Please help thanks.

Go by the guide on CM9 website. I played it safe and flashed the tar version via PDA in odin. Once that's installed you can then update to latest nightly. I've never had any issues with that process. All the best.

So sir did you install first a leaked ics or not? Thanks

Erm not sure I'm a bit of a flasher- holic. More than likely I was on a 4.0.4 based custom rom. If you do full wipes and format system then flash via odin I'm sure you will be fine as that's what I did. Please read CM9 guide though.

I went from stock GB to CM9 nightly without any problem

I dont have a computer....i need a flashable one through recovery
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Saurom is your only flashable GB build in this section..
Check the super thread at the top of the general section, and scroll down to the roms.
Read "carefully"....before flashing...
Saurom is a loaded version of 2.3.6 with many extras ....I like it ...g
Hmmm. Do you happen to have a backup of your stock ROM (gingerbread). From before you flashed a custom ROM? If so then all you need is the stock kernel and modem. I have a flash able zip for the stock recovery I can give you, but no longer have the kernel and modem on hand.

I dont i bought it with ics already on it

Well, your only other option is trying Saurom. Its about the only GB ROM you can flash. Otherwise you'll need to find a computer you can use to use Odin and follow the steps in the link I posted above.

PS kernEl
What's the first rule??
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Why don't you read the rules?
You mean search before posting? I already did,the mentioned siyah kernel does not support cm 10.1as per the XDA thread but the source site says the kernel will flash but dual boot will not work,I just wanna over clock,ninphretamin3 kernel is not supported either, that's why I asked...

Yeah, you could've just checked different kernel threads
Always read, read, and read some more! From what I "read," people have been able to dual boot using siyah. You just have to use cm10.1 as the first rom and sammy as second.
Yank555 kernel got my device into super slow motion, somehow got it restored, running on siyah v1.8.7,runs brilliantly...
