For me personally it seems quite ugly and looks like a metro style ripoff.
Looks nice, I'd really love to use it on my hox+.

I'd be more worried the m7 device looking that ugly, lol! Looks like regular sense to me, maybe a few different options but I'm sure nothing ground breaking that you'll need 4gb of ram and a 2.8ghz quad core device to run.
Looks much better, and elegant. No more gradient notification bar.

That would be crazy if the HOX and HOX+ were not upgradable to Sense 5. It would mean only M7 and yet to be released phones and maybe just the Droid DNA would run Sense 5. Now timing on release would be my bigger concern. So if the M7 is coming in April, based on HTC's history, when would people expect the Sense 5 upgrade to come after that? I'm assuming we would get the Sense 5 upgrade in conjunction with Jelly Bean 4.2 and there won't be a Sense 4+ release on Jelly Bean 4.2
In terms of looks, I personally like Metro, but the screenshots here make it look like a bad knock-off. It's probably just the getting started screen/widgets, hopefully the finally product with live widgets look better.

There was a "rumour" that ONE series wont get SENSE 5
Sense looks just slightly different. I wonder how much is actually different.
The M7 looks so ugly though. I was considering maybe swapping my HOX+ for one after I heard the rumors, but now that I can see it there's no way. I mean what is HTC thinking putting the recents button in the center? Why aren't they using on-screen buttons? Why does it look just like a WP8 device?
I was hoping for more from the next flagship device.

Got the same thoughts... X+ looks much much better! Why the hell they rearanged the buttons?! They should bring back search button instead of multitask

I think metro looks better than anything android has to offer. I'm only not there yet because of some app / carrier support. So I'd welcome sense 5.

I can't stand the Metro UI... so ugly, looks like a big stack of lego-like squares with text in them. Much rather see a nice background image of my choice and hide the nuts & bolts for access when needed.

Theres no doubt our device can run it. HTC are taking a more minimalistic approach to sense 5, as they believe sense has become too bloated. Obviously this will lead to a reduction in resource requirements.

I kind of do. But I understood that going from HTC to Samsung would (IMNSHO) be a downgrade in the user experience.
The screen size & battery life along with CM/AOSP/AOKP is a good decision for myself.

Yea, the windows GUI was hideous. I remember running android on my Tilt2 from the SD card. Didn't run great, but it made the decision to just get an Android phone when they went to Windows 7 a no-brainer!
That, and when I saw the Dell Streak with a 5 inch screen, I was in love...

God I hated Sense on my Evo 3d. No copy and paste from the dialer to start. Remove sense (install a clean rom) and Caller ID breaks. Plus a whole bunch of other small annoyances that add up to a whole lot of frustration. Maybe the new version is better but I'll never go back to Sense.
Sense ui.....=HTC bloat.....imho
Loved the 4 htc devices I have used, but they sure ran nice on CM....g
I think htc lost their way. I loved sense on wm6.5 on my hd2, especiLly the hacked ROMs that increased the icons. I preferred that GUI to their android GUI (which was based on their wm GUI originally). I have most of myold devices (all the way back to a Psion Orhamiser!) And its clear HTC once had really cool devices. Now they are ME TOO. No real differentiation. Samsung is winning at the moment.
But watch out for ASUS. They will appear from nowhere in the mobile market with outstanding devices (much like they have in the notebook market and now the Microst tablet).

Hi all. Engadget has just released their review of One X+. Just wanted to share.
http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/31/htc-one-x-plus-review/
They basically say;
- Sense has improved and runs a bit smoother.
- Front camera has drastically improved.
- Battery life is same as One X.
- There is only one color option which is black matte.
- Photo and video quality is same as One X and they think it lags behind the competition.
- The processor is faster and it shows itself in real world usage.
- Camera lens is still prone to scratch.
- Taking photos is even faster.
- Volume is significantly higher with Beats Audio enabled.
and so on...
So basically not really worth upgrading once the one x receives jelly bean?

It's a personal preference. It brings faster performance, 64 GB storage, probably less problematic hardware than One X (remember wifi, screen problems of One X) and more.. They just say if it was using S4 Pro it would have had better battery life but still it's a lovely phone.

I would buy One X or One X+ only if I like Sense. Well, I do but I couldn't buy One X since it had hardware issues when I was looking for. Maybe HTC solved these issues, we will see but right now if I had a solid One X without problems, I wouldn't buy One X+. If I had GS3, I would still buy it because missed Sense as I'm using GN right now.

I am planning to get a new phone and i cannot decide between the One X+ (international ver.) and the LG Nexus 4 (N4).
I want:
Extremely Smooth.
A nice UI (User Interface) to brag about.
A future proofed phone
Hard Gaming
Downloading - Wifi g/b/n optional /a
Above average battery life - lasts a day or more.
And lastly, i will not root my phone as soon as i get it - but i might think about it. But, it may be unlikely.
For:
I would get a N4. but, i hate the fact that i would not be able to get HTC's awesome widgets. - Weather...
The N4 is basically similar to Apex Launcher.
Against:
I am getting tired of the sense interface. It is very similar to Gingerbread. - which makes it kind of boring.
Nexus has the new gen specs - flagship processor, 2GB Ram..
I am actually happy with my current HTC Desire Z - rooted with ELITEMOD. But the thing which annoys me a lot is the battery life - 7-8 hours minimal use - no games.
Other phone suggestions are welcome. Not LG, GS3, iPhone.
PS. I like touchwiz, but the SGS3 is not a option.
I dislike the name LG, so it is not a option - Yes i am picky. With a exception for the Nexus series.
...A decently new phone which WILL get the Jellybean update.
Update:
If you are reading this in 2013, I recommend getting the HTC M7, Nexus 7, or if you are in the main stream get the S4, or the New Samsung Galaxy Note (not the note 2).
Rumours say the M7 n the new galaxy note will have a camera which is above 10 megapixels. Rumours also say the HTC M7 will have a tegra 4 processor.

How about the Razr HD Maxx?
3300mAh battery, so plenty for extended gaming sessions, and it is due to get Jellybean very soon. Might not be cutting edge enough on the specs front though with only a dual core S4 & 1gb ram.
I've only had my One X+ for 8 days and haven't done much gaming to be honest, but I have noticed that extended periods of browsing can chew through the battery, so gaming would run it down even quicker ( depending on your screen brightness level I suppose )
Tbh if the Razr had an lcd / ips screen I would have one now instead of the One X+ as I hate amoled screens. That was the only thing that stopped me picking one up.

For me it's how they can over saturate the colours, and that whites can look more of a grey / blue colour than proper white. You do get deeper blacks with an amoled screen though.
It doesn't bother most people to be honest, and a lot of people like the over saturated look, but I personally prefer the more natural image quality & colours of a good lcd / ips screen.

1.7ghz Quad
Amazing SLCD 2 "best display on the market"
Jellybean 4.1 with sense 4+ on top.

64GB Memory, 55 available to the user.
Nexus 4

Decent 720p display
Mediocre camera
Very fragile glass back
32 or 16 GB memory.
Idk why you ask when the specs are all over xda. I mean the nexus 4 will be smoother, and sense is too in your face, but I'd go with the HOX+. Sorry Google, but HTC has probably the best build quality for its phones out there, no argument can be made. Samsung and just about every other manufacturer uses plastics that make the device feel cheap.

Just to chime in
I've been kicking around the same decision re: Nexus 4 vs HOX+. Having a Nexus 7, I love the look of stock Jellybean. Not a fan of the Sense Graphics/Themes and find the look dated (as mentioned in this thread already). If there was a foolproof way to install AOSP on the HOX+ and get the Google OTA updates, that would make my decision for me. If anyone knows of this option, I'm all ears.
Not to hijack the thread or anything. If I have to start a new one, I will. But since the OP original decision making process may require this info (really reaching here) then it could be answered without a new thread subject.
On another note, the reason for my leaning to the OneX+ is: Design: the feel of this phone in the hand is second bar none. Screen: Superb. Storage: Huge and therefore, lack of SD not a concern. Second Iteration: the kinks have been worked out of its construction, quality appears very good. Camera: One of the best 8mp on a smartphone with good camera software to boot.
Negative: Software: UI Design looks old, less sophisticated to my eyes. Updates: with stock Sense 4+ they will be slow and most likely stop before updates stop rolling out for the Nexus 4 stock.
Get the HOX+ its a no brainer really!!!!! Its the best device out right now!!! Even better than the DNA. I just got mine today, coming from a HTC ONE X, this phone is perfect. Its got 64gb of storage, jb, and sense......what else could a guy want?!!!! Its the perfect device in my mind.

+1 zound knows better by the way, zound how's the overall shift to X+?
First of all i would like to say a huge THANK YOU to the developers that have put their time and energy into the DNA.
Secondly i just wanted to inquire if there would be any possibility of the DNA getting Key Lime Pie (when it releases of course) with the assistance of the talented developer repertoire?
There's a possibility i'll win the lottery tomorrow.
So I would say yes, there is a possibility.
With HTC's track record and this being a Verizon only device, I would bet on no. Not to mention that they have already shifted their focus to the M7 which seems to be headed for a multi-carrier release. I'm sure they will go (almost) all-in with the M7 since it might make or break them in a lot of ways.
Just my opnion, but like was said above, anything is a possibility.

Which would be a shame. I was thinking about picking up this phone outright. The M7 doesn't impress me at all.

I'm not so sure VZW will be getting the M7 though.
and to the OP, we most likely won't see KLP officially on our phone, but considering the M7 is mostly the same hardware as the DNA, It SHOULD be easily ported. I had a rezound that had ICS and Sense 4 long before ICS was officially supported on the phone and that phone NEVER officially got Sense4.
not to mention someone already has Sense 5 on their DNA (sense 5 being released with the M7)
Has Key Lime Pie actually been talked about anywhere besides rumors though?? just curious.

What doesn't impress you about the M7?
The only "con" I can see is .3" smaller of a screen than the DNA. Other than that, it is mostly an improvement over the DNA.

If you already have the DNA, you shouldn't regret it. I doubt the M7 will be a night and day difference in performance. It all depends on Sense 5 for noticeable performance gains imo.

i dont regret getting my DNA. its an excellent phone. Key Lime Pie is slated for a release sometime in May, so i was just wondering if the DNA would get it in one way or the other. I mean, my OG Incredible got a Jellybean port lol
Since i believe htc +verizon just upgraded tb to ics any thing is possible..
Fyi my son just got dna i think battery life is a little disappointing again much like tb

Your son most likely has it on full brightness and playing games all day because if you're comparing the battery life with the tb...oh man... But battery isn't bad at all

Yea, it doesn't have any of the red accenting (or anything similar to that) that gives the DNA it's premium feel.
Also, I believe that the DNA will get KLP since its so popular and such a super phone.

Yeah I am very interested to see how sense 5 is. I like 4+ but I hope that the scrolling from screen to screen isn't so heavy. That's the only reason I use nova prime on this phone.

HTC just verified in their Facebook page that their One X (and others) will be getting a Sense 5 UI update (excluding some HTC One specific functions). What do you guys and gals think? Will we get it as well seeing how our phone is kind of a sister phone to the One X? Will we already have a new Evo and Sprint won't continue to release updates for our handset? Or will we only get a hacked together version of it from the One X build thanks to our awesome developers.
Does this extend the life of our phone? Will it hold you until the next Evo?
Here's the source by the way:
[Update: Confirmed] HTC May Upgrade One X, One X+, One S, And Butterfly To Sense 5 UI
I was just about to post this, you beat me to it. I had all but assumed we wouldn't get it but now I'm holding out hope we will. I sure hope so!

Nevermind, just realized that it was updated.
Don't they have to continue support for so many months? I would say we probably will but it will happen around Christmas

I think if this is the case, then they're moving forward with their plan of Quality of Quantity.
Well, call me the pessimistic one, but I don't think so. I'm satisfied with a port, honestly.
If the camera is as good as they make it out to be then I will gladly come back. But initial comparisons to the Lumia show its still not that great.. Can't wait for some reviewers to get their hands on it.
Blink feed looks pretty neat and I like the new sense layout.

I bet they will release it after the one launch. Just like they did for the 3d and ics.

Hopefully we do get sense 5...i don't think it's worth the $600-700 to get the HTC one
Are there any Sense roms with Sense 5 yet?
It'll be a gimped version. That's a guarantee. Just like sense 3.6. I'll take it, though.
Meh. There are tons of apps that do the same thing as BlinkFeed but allow you to add your own sources. I do like the fact that Sense 5 makes use of Roboto though.

After reading a few reviews I am starting to become convinced that the EVO LTE is capable of doing many of the things/features that HTC is trying to sell us with the HTC One. The HTC One camera reviews out there have been horrific so far in regards to the hype HTC is trying to sell us on.
I am at the point now that if a Dev in due time can create the same theme and features that the one has then there is really no reason for me to upgrade and bail on my EVO LTE. I also heard the HTC One Screen is not as bright either.
I have absolutely no faith in the possible Sprint/HTC Sense 5 Update.
This further proves my theory that HTC pretty much tries to sell us on that "this is the best phone yada yada" that they will support with updates and innovation galore only to see them pull up the red carpet and good china silverware after a month or so of the release date moving on to the next phone to bait us with leaving us hanging for the promised updates and innovation that never materialize.
^^^ they have to support a phone for a least 18 months so you never know if we'll get the sense 5 update but it is very possible

That's as far as Android version goes. Not Sense UI is concerned. That's why the EVO 3D didn't get Sense 4 when it went to ICS like the 4G LTE had.

Didn't they get sense 3.6? No older phone before the evo lte got sense 4 because of the image chip

I'm guessing so, the evo design got Sense 3.6.
But now that 3.16 kernel source is out I'm willing to bet we get an update to sense 5.

Right, but they could've developed Sense 4 for the EVO 3D, and left out the image chip features. If we get Sense 5, it'll be a more watered down version like that. They want to sell these new phones for those features as well.

Sense 3.6 is sense 4 but without the image sense chip software in it. Its not water downed but it just isn't capable it run that software. True we might get a water down sense 5 but not many features will be missing
